The answer that 3D gacha turds don't want to hear because old habits die hard is that in Endfield, you can very feasibly just team build however you like assuming your operators are synergistic with each other. No set up is really monumentally leagues more optimal than the other. Even if there is a team with uber DPS output (looking at you Rossi diehards who won't shut up), there's no actual application for it other than speed-running Rhodagn a few seconds faster than your peers.

Touhou games are great shmups and Arknights is a great tower defense game, you can't even go and buy a tower defense game for full price that has gameplay as satisfying as Arknights especially when you factor in IS and other game modes. The reason Arknights has lasted so long and done so well is because it's a great video game and Tower Defense is a good mobile-friendly genre where you aren't losing anything. And a large part of the reason every 3D gacha game has terrible combat is because they focus so hard on making them vaguely playable on a mobile device, with Arknights you don't need to compromise like that, it just works. Augment that with great character designs, good world building and incredible music and it's no surprise it's so succcessful
i can't get more than 45. it's definitely a skill and build issue. i'll just build my wulfgard later.
