Every time I've tried to play BG3 I always end up losing interest part way through Act 2 because my whole team has come online by that point and every combat encounter ends up playing out largely the same way. I love additional encounters and tactician enhanced. You can give enemies new items, subclass features if they lacked them by default, and you can even give them extra actions or max hp.A third way to mix the game up and make it feel fresh is the AMP+REL mod, although I don't neccessarily recommend this one if you haven't finished the game normally at least once. It removes the hand placed loot in the game and swaps to a semi-random loot table system, and has a way to buy chests from vendors and spend tokens to open them for semi-random loot. It's a silly mod, but it does mix things up for people who have played a few times and memorized loot locations. It's for people who want to build on the fly based on what you find, instead of just knowing where the items for your build are. It's fun so far in my experience but I wouldn't do it on my first playthrough and it's definitely not a universally applicable mod.And last but not least is the 5.5e mod. It's actually got quite a bit of effort in it, the author is doing a good job. It adds several classes, most of which are from 5.5e supplements, and it also changes some of the Larian gameplay changes back to the rulebook if they were never in 5e or 5.5e.Also, act3 has a ton of fun bosses. It's a series of boss fights that allow you to test your build. There are silly story elements but act3 is fun for the big fights. So look forward to that maybe that's also enough to get you going.

With the former one you have something that ignites the barrel (Fire-based spells including Bolt, various Arrows like Flame, Smokepowder grenade, a thrown Torch or even a Candle) it explodes slowly afterwards and if there are more barrels in the impact radius they do the same. This is how all those huge nukes you might see on Youtube were built: stack a shitton of barrels near a boss without triggering dialogue or combat (the dumbass AI doesn't mind it), ignite it and watch the auto-win button in action.

Ah that reminds me, When I was playing my current playthrough, sometimes the party members were ending their turns before I planned to, so I thought I was experiencing a bug, but it was actually one of the difficulty mods making manipulating objects in the world or in your inventory take an action.One of the fun self-imposed challenges for the game is to never use "magical pockets" during combat. Making sure each person has the items, scrolls, and potions they will use in their own inventory is a part of the game, and magical pockets makes that go away. It's also closer to the rulebook: rummaging through your inventory like opening a bag of holding and searching for a particular item is indeed an Action in the rulebook, but it's not in bg3.So I was happy to see the mod author had the same thought and implemented that change to match the rulebook. I think it was the 5.5e mod since that's the one that made several other rulebook-adherent changes to bg3's systems (like shoving is an action) but I'll have to look at the changelog of the others too later to be sure.It's been an absolute blast to play with more difficulty mods and mods to make the game adhere to the rulebook. For a long time the only mods we had were outfits and character customization, it's really great to have classes and rule overhauls. A Dark Urge who embraces the Urge rather than resisting it would be closer to a beast acting on instinct than an individual with moral agency. Their evil would be divinely predetermined in a way that severely limits how much room the player has for actual roleplaying. A murderhobo remains a murderhobo, no matter how much spin the narrator might put on indiscriminate killing. The Urge only has meaning in contrast to a moral framework - without it, it would cease to be an urge, and instead become instinct. I've always maintained that an evil-aligned Tav - say, a ruthless githyanki or drow, or even your run-of-the-mill wizard - is ironically a better starting point than the Dark Urge for an unapologetically evil playthrough. Their evil would be of their own making. Their cruelty would be of their own design. The Dark Urge is not simply "Tav+" as the FAQ in the OP has historically suggested, a better version in every regard of a blank slate. A Dark Urge who actively resists the Urge and might overcome it after great struggle or tragically succumb to it is a compelling template. As is a Tav who can choose to be evil.
