It's hard to have any excitement left for STALKER 2, it's been almost two years now and most people have probably just moved back to playing the original games.
>>
>>572321940
desu I'm pretty excited about the engine update.
it may be a shit show upon release, but I'm hoping for a performance improvement
>>
So, at what point in the game will the DLC be accessible?
>>
>>572324086
I have no idea man. yeah I know, real helpful
>>
>>572328074
They really should say this shit. Considering how they handled sealed truth with it being available only during like a tiny window between two consecutive quests, I'm sure most people are reluctant to play due to not knowing if they're locking themselves out but also trying not to be so far ahead that they need hours to reach the DLC once it comes out.
I hate it when games add DLC that slot so weirdly inside long-ass games.
>>
>>572324086
>>572328762
They haven't even given a definitive release date.
>Summer 2026
What does that mean? July? August? September is still technically Summer too.
It's going to be July in a day or so. I wouldn't be surprised if it got delayed until next year.
>>
>>572329225
>I wouldn't be surprised if it got delayed until next year.
Honestly man, considering how long they've gone without even mentioning multiplayer in spite of it still being mentioned on the store page, I wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point.

I'm quietly optimistic. I've been thoroughly enjoying S2 lately, after uninstalling it a week after launch and not touching it again until a few weeks ago. I see people still bitching about it and I think:
>"no that isn't right! it actually has great AI and there's plenty of stuff to loot and the weapon attachment system is fantastic!"
and then I remember I have like 60 mods installed.

It just needs mods. I went back and played vanilla SoC a wee while ago and remembered (controversial opinion) it fucking sucked too. A huge part of what stalker was in my mind was built around this mess of experiences built over nearly 20 years and hundreds of mods. I get the impression GSC seems to attract least understand that Stalker is bigger than them, and all they're really doing is providing a sandbox for the next generation. Pros;
>huge, seamless open world
>honestly some of the best sound design in a game
cons;
>performance
Huge problem that instantly locks out 70% of potential players. However it is improving.
>Lack of content
Another glaring problem. There needs to be STUFF. Hell, pointless stuff that clutters your inventory if you accidentally pick it up. Things to sell to traders. Rare chances to pick up a wallet full of cash, or valuable little trinkets that are easy to miss. More little interactions with NPCs, maybe some unforseen consequences, idk. At least 20 more guns, even shit ones. Variety is great and maybe I like seeing how far I can get with a 20ga toz.
This really is where the modders will shine though.

At least they added taking parts off mutants to sell but that took a long ass time for something that should've been in the game from day one (it was a feature in the other ones for fucksake). The maps just feel really big and empty, with only a few points of interest and just the same anomalies over and over. Some strange unique shit just peppered throughout the zone that serves no purpose beyond looking cool would at least add some flare to the large empty areas.

That shit's all over the fucking world you faggot. All sorts of little unique things.
>>
>>572544473
The standard anomalies found literally everywhere? That's not very exciting. I'm talking about having more unique shit like that tornado or the floating ball that gives you the succ.
>>
>>572545818
There's some quirky shit scattered about, but yeah certainly needs more. The biggest problem for me is the lack of shit to loot. Stalker basically invented looter shooter, where's my fucking loot?
>>
>>572546373
Yeah it's just too lacking in all those ways, there's just too many vast empty fields of nothing. No looting, no unique anomalies, just boring space. It just doesn't feel like there's much reason to visit a lot of parts of the map since there's nothing unique or worth going the distance to find.
>>
>>572545818
But that "serves a purpose"

If you look around through there's shittons of unique little things
>Containers getting warped like they're made of liquid metal exposed to a magent
>Floating trees
>Distorted root structures that twist into balls
>Insane swarms of bees that fly around city streets
They're all over if you look around. Tons of soulful little spots. And they've been adding more along with the patches. If you go back and read old patch notes on the official website with the FULL list? Sometimes a patch would have like 20+ "improved environment art at LOCATION". And going back to replay I'm noticing everything and everywhere has been gently beautified.
>>
>>572548728
>>572546373
>>572545818
>>572544473
Like there's even unique anomaly fields that aren't labeled on the maps that produce artifacts.

This is PEAK "did you even play the game"?
>>
>>572477229
I see it like an ex GF you randomly run into after you haven't seen her in years, she's changed a lot and what made her attractive to you is gone but at least you have the memories. S2 is complete ass but at least we still have the OG trilogy and lots of great mods to come back to. That said the franchise itself is dead to me beyond that. I don't care about whatever slop GSC puts out from this point forward.
>>
>>572344586
sg was more active than usual a few years back thanks to S2 development and pre release hype. Sadly S2 largely caters to the plebbit crowd and the modding scene never took off the same way it did with SoC so yeah the hype has pretty much died out with nothing to replace it.
>>
File: stalker sandwich.jpg (248 KB, 1061x775)

>>572321940
are they updating the enhanced originals as well?
>>
>>572496580
Vanilla SoC had some questionable design decisions (like a lot of things relating to the guns in particular) but honestly it holds up well imo. You can tell the graphics are almost 20 years old but despite that it has a unique aesthetic, color pallette, ambience, etc. that really helps you look past that kind of thing. If you're a veteran stalker you should know how to cheese the gunplay and should be able to land headshots with ease and know where to pick up the best gear. For me what makes the OG trilogy special is no matter how many times I've played through each of them I can start up a new playthrough and find myself having fun like it didn't matter (even on vanilla) and there's not many games I can say that about.
>I get the impression GSC seems to attract least understand that Stalker is bigger than them, and all they're really doing is providing a sandbox for the next generation
Problem with this theory is they wouldn't have released mod tools sized at 700GB if so. One of the biggest reasons stalker modding took off back in the SoC era was that modding the game was actually pretty simple. A lot of the OG trilogy is just basic config files, xml, lua etc. Stuff like level design and model imports etc is definitely a bigger pita but the once you had basic scripting knowledge you could do a lot with the game (just look at how much AMK changed it). Only a handful of people are going to be arsed to download 700gb just on modtools (plus the game is 250 iirc so thats nearly 1tb just for S2 stuff) that involve working with the pita that is UE5. Like I highly doubt the S2 modscene will ever reach a fraction of what the OG trilogy one is.
