I think that I took this game for granted.Before I knew about /esg/, I installed Eversoul during it's launch month. I played it for a while, really liked Linzy, and thought it was a neat little game. However, it didn't seem worth sticking around for. I mean, it's an autobattler! There are better mobile games out there! So I uninstalled. This was probably back in mid-2023 or so.Then, a few months later on a whim, I posted pic related; the famous Flat Salvation pic, to a buddy. He instantly downloaded the game, himself. Not wanting to leave him hanging, I reinstalled. Then I found out about /esg/, which had quietly existed while I was off playing other games. Thanks to /esg/, the second go hooked me. The music, the art style, the animations, the dedicated mission to give every single soul her own love story (eventually), it all just clicked for me. The game gave me a deep sensation of comfort whenever I idled on the main screen, no matter which soul I set up to stand there with me. Eversoul never made me feel rushed to advance the story, beat higher-difficulty fights, or even answer my everphone if I didn't want to at the time; it would all be there when I was ready. Sure, there was powercreep. Sure, there were paid packages. In my case, though, I only ever threw money at the game because I liked the new souls being released, even if they seemed underpowered, and wanted to make sure I pulled them. I never cared too much about how strong they were, because strength didn't feel required to enjoy the game.Eversoul put forward a different promise than other games of its kind. Instead of making every new character an essential part of your fighting roster, Eversoul promised something else. And that promise was that you would fall in love. I really enjoy tryharding raids in autobattlers. It was really fun making strats in the early raids before stuff got figured out, and people here were talking mad shit to me because of my score and that really put me off to the point that I had to quit. Wasn't interested in the whole pits vs jammies thing though, I caused pits to be in top 10 for a few raids. Don't know if this place got better after that.
