First off, because the government wants to kill VPN entirely (because it allows you to bypass the anti porn law) and second, your ISP knows how much data you use with a VPN. It just doesn't know what that data is. Not only that but you actually use a lot more data. Roughly 10 to 20 percent more. So downloading Onirism would now cost roughly 7€ with a vpn.
>>572685892>Could a vpn get around that bullshit?no, since all your traffic still goes through your ISP even if it's encrypted so only your VPN knows what it is.Your ISP knows you generate hundred of GB of data, they just won't know that it's dolphin porn.

I'm looking for games where you can pick/make from a variety of character types and run through dungeons with randoms online or solo. Here are some negative examples:>Dungeons of SundariaUnfinished MMO converted into a solo/multiplayer game using leftover assets/content that is somewhat feature complete with eight big dungeons but there was no final bug/balance patch and the dev team dissolved.>FellowshipFew ugly premade characters with few dungeons.>Legends of OldSingle player Everquest-like that was turned into a poorly supported and balanced dungeon spammer.I want to open a game and queue up with some randoms to run a dungeon. That's it. There's gotta be something GOOD out there.
>>572706208What makes it stand out is that it's a really fucking good spiritual sequel to aria of sorrow and symphony of the night. It has the same overall movement and combat feeling with significantly better designed boss fights, it solve Aria's mana problem making you able to actually cast spells at a reasonable rate even in the early game. The powers feel unique and interesting enough that they're worth testing simply to see what they do. Even the controversial aspects like the 3D graphics are used interestingly. It has that thing that no metroidvania other than castlevania can quite replicate.

Bloodstained nightmare mode flawless bosses done.Surprisingly, my strategy was basically the same as my first playthrough. Sequence break to bloodless. Except this time I knew what I was looking for. Weirdly enough, the hardest boss was the first boss of the game. Spoilers of the other notably difficult bosses, Alfred, he was surprisingly hard to do damageless due to his unpredictable nature and very fast throws, Dominique is insanely agile and fast but she doesn't have much health, same strategy as Zangetsu, stay the fuck away from her but keep her on screen., O.D is both harder and easier. He's notably more aggressive and throws a sword at you during his time stop but he needs to claim back his sword afterwards which leaves him open for quite a while., IGA wasn't noticeably harder, he's just always hard mode. The game becomes pretty much the same as regular hard mode when you reach the library since you start getting some major stat boost... Not that different from SOTN now that I think about it.

>>572681075What a great callout. It really is the part of Arrival where a bunch of scientists figure stuff out offscreen. The feeling when the pure math builds into actual communication is amazing. and then it tells me I'm only 1/4 of the way through
And uuuhhhh ship review I guess. Page 1 is the tutorial ships, given how you only need to reach sector 5 to unlock the next one, save for the elites. Their theme is that they're essentially demos of what the ship itself and related race has to offer, but having Advanced Navigator and a good loadout as training wheels. Even the MV Augmented is a demo, of obelisk gear. Nothing fancy, nothing flashy, just some good easy ships to ease a newbie into the world of Multiverse. The odd one out is the Flagship. Yes, you can fly the end boss. And surprisingly, it kinda fucking sucks. It has borderline zero upgradability. Sure you can level up the shields and artillery and whatnot, but that's it. No new systems, what you see is what you get. It's powerful for sure, but that power absolutely craters at harder enemies where aiming and system breaking become paramount, and the flagship can't do either. This thing is not making it to the Nexus, it's not even making it through the front door. Its B and C variants fare much better as they have drone and weapons systems respectively, so there's far more variation in build.

Playing through Undergrounded. I was looking forward to it after playing the demo a year ago. Unfortunately, they didn't address the main complaint regarding the canary talking too much, though there's at least a sprint button now, which makes backtracking not a huge slog. What surprisingly bothers me most is the music, it's pretty bad throughout, and they don't have many tracks despite each level taking multiple hours to complete. But I'm enjoying the variety of puzzles and arcade minigames, and the story's working for me, so I'll see it through. Two levels left after about eight and a half hours. The same studio is making that new SAO game this year, it'd be cool to see other studios allow small teams to work on cheap projects like this.
>>572865968Same. I love how it feels like a dream. Sadly >>572862141 is right.
>>572868789I thought as well, but it looks very different.
The Rhyme cruiser is fittingly weird, even on the beacon map.And I will never, ever spell rhyme correctly the first time. Ever.
>>572890572its weird, because the vast majority of hitboxes are smooth and perfect. then you have some of the worst fucking offenders in the entire series
>>572891585I think that's because of Adaptibility. That thing ruins the whole game.
>>572892957Personally I like itPoorly explained and could be fine-tuned. But rolling is so busted. Majority of ds2 is trying to fix problems we had in demons and 1. So 2 says if you want to roll through everything like before, youre gonna have to invest in it. I think its a better system. personally, I think we see just how bad it got to counter rolling with FromSofts other hidden indie title; Elden Ring.
>>572893705I see your point, but it also makes it a pain in the very start where you're so slow.I'd rather not talk about Elden Ring, this game has potential but it's ruined by Bloodborne and what ultra fast combat did to From's games.
I'm trying to not use the wiki, but damn. I need a lot of stuff to finally feel at ease and it's expensive or dunno where to find it.
>>572898282thats the best part of the game for me
>>572899310I'm just a bit frustrated, all the cool stuff I found so far cannot be wielded, so I wanna raise my strength and my dexterity, but I also have little HP, stamina, and agility.
>>572900531Levels come easy, so don't worry too much. You need half the strength for Strength stats, but the full amount for Dex. I'd recommend Dex first. Very light spoiler, but if you're going for a strength build, you don't need to invest that many points into Dex at all. 20 is overkill.I don't know if you've played the game before or if you familiar with certain things. However, there's two covenants in Majula. Be cautious and read very carefully.
>>572900868Nah, I don't want strength. All my DaS1, DaS2, DaS3, Elden Ring and related games have been strength builds. This time I wanna go for something I never do, so dexterity, and NO SHIELDS. This time, I'm trying to play the game "for real", without hiding behind a shield for 90% of my playtime. And I'm not trying the Covenant of Champions. I'm not insane. I'm too shit to try it.
>>572901591Ah, seems you've played it before. Yeah, I didn't know about the CoC. It's hilarious to find people complain about the game and then we have to tell them they joined the "hard mode" covenant. Have fun with the dex builds! I'm more of unga bunga alpha male. I don't think I've ever done a Dex build or a power stance build either. I think when I reinstall the game sometime this year when I check out the mods, I'll do a power stance Dex build.Godspeed, fren!
>>572902448I'm a complete sucker for polearms, so I tend to prefer spears and halberds, but they're so slow that, out of practical consideration, I'm always more or less forced to have a sword or an axe. This time, I wanna go for a Dancer-like build: dodge, roll, and dual wield scimitars. But this time, I'll actually level up, instead of using the ring that prevents you from getting souls.Usually I go full Phalanx.Big shield, spear, and a lot of poking.

So is Tears of Metal a rogue like or a rogue lite?>only one life>very hard to recover health>any death sends you back to the main menu>but every campaign also get you more stuff to upgrade your island, army, and character, so there's permanent upgrades to buy>>572915568Sorry, I started all my Souls games as a hobo.Whatever builds and plans you have, nothing can compare to the feeling of finally being able to hold a real sword in your hands, one that isn't broken or in chipped.
>>572918379>rogue like or a rogue liteidk if there are any commonly agreed upon definitions but imo anything with a lot of meta progression is automatically a roguelite, so for example something like Barony is more of a roguelike than Dungeonmans. Then again ToME has what could be considered a kind of meta progression and I'd still consider it a roguelike
>>572919394There's meta progression in Tears of Metal, so it's less of a roguelike than Barony.
>>572919903I would say so, yeah. Anyway is the game fun?I don't love the artstyle but the concept seems interesting
>>572920338>is the game funKeep in mind I'm atrocious at these, but so far, yeah. However, get a gamepad, I'm playing it on my keyboard out of laziness, and the control scheme is weird, Ctrl+F to use your ultimate, space to block. It's does feel like Dynasty Warrior/Samurai Orochi/whatever these games with dozens of mobs are called, but there is some limited army customisation. Don't expect Mandalore's Kingdom Under Fire game where you can evolve your troops, it's just "pay money and raise stats".What I do like is that, like all these rogue games, you can either play safe and rush toward the boss, or you can dilly dally and get more loot, but then enemies get buffs. And these buffs are randomized: sometimes they get an archer tower that will periodically shoot arrows at you, sometimes they get unlimited reinforcements, or more captains...I do like that the blocking window feel very generous compared to Soulsslops.Bosses are very tough, though. You can't wail on them like you're Peppino Spaghetti having a chat with the Noise.

>>572922017Could be that the game isn't as stable as it used to be on newer hardware. Is it 2003 or 2004?
>>5729221232004. I thought the assault rifle would make it obvious, but there are probably mods to port 2004 into 2003.And I fear it's very likely.Through to be fair to >>572858498, I did technically fall out of a map since I waited until my body disappeared.
Finally played Rimworld after it's been recommended to me because I like emergent gameplay or "dynamic storytelling".I uninstalled it within five minutes. I was overwhelmed with all those options, had no care to what I chose, and that UI was confusing as shit. I assume there was going to be a lot of reading. I guess I'm autistic or some shit, because i have no problem reading an entire thread or through wikipedia, books, short stories on the internet, but reading in a game? Na. Unless its books IN the game, then I'll read it.
>>572922017>But my friends don't want to play Void Crew, don't want to play Barony, don't want to play Vintage Story...I tried Barony with my group but it didn't work out well, only one of my buddies had the right mindset for it but even then I realized I had more fun playing it alone and taking my time grinding levels tbqh. As for Vintage Story I didn't even propose it, my friends constantly play survival slop (even garbage ones like Valheim) but there's always one or two guys playing 3 times as much than the others on the server and doing 90% of the work so I end up feeling useless. It's too bad because I think that with the right group VS in multiplayer would be amazing, and it's a much much better survival game than most of the ones that my friends tend to play
>>572223717>>572314086Interesting things have happened with the new expansion. Had what I thought was a normal scan alarm go off, thought nothing of it. A second. Ok, I've been out here a bit, maybe they just go around and scan everyone on patrol or something. I get to the 4th scan and check the console to see if I've gotten any contact. Nothing. Last message I have is the ship I'm connected to letting me dock on auto. Then I get a line on the log telling me I've got a warrant from k-leg. Look around at different things, try to figure out why, what I did, etc. Then, I get a "Hey, end of shift is happening shortly and you've got unpaid things, you should get that cleared up before end of shift." Oh, I didn't realize I could do that while out in the black, cool. Then I see the fine from k-leg, (5k for refusing to undock for boarding). Double checked the log at that point. No hail at all from anyone since the docking with the derelict. Alright, fine, I guess I'll pay it just to get it over with. Went along with planned cannibalism. Moments after undocking from the parts pile the hail came in. Prepare to be boarded. Had already paid my fine, sure, board me all you want. I've been in trouble with the law before in my backstory, so I didn't want to rock the boat. They said surrender, I did. Brig. Fines amounting to another 20k. Alright, sure, capitalist dystopia, nickel and diming the little guy. Get dumped out in the station but without my ship. Interplanetary Uber got me though. Get back to my ship and the cop is now stuck on my ship, as his is gone and he can't just fuck off into the black. Dock back to the derelict since I was mere meters from it anyway. Wait a few for cop to head on to derelict and blast back to kleg. Sell the equipment I'd salvaged in addition to installing the flooring and walls I'd brought back. Head back out to the same parts pile and the cop's still there...
>>572922942I thought I got a good dynamic with my friends by only playing with one of them at once, and alternating between games I know and games he knows so that we trade places being mentors. But then we hit the end of the content in Dragonwilds and he's been resisting my attempts to drag him back in with excuses like "but I have a job now".And for Void Crew, Barony, and Repo, well... My fault, I should've asked if anyone else was interested before I got them.
I feel like a hipster because /v/ is too mainstream for me
>>572923464actually, anon... you're just getting old. The old v is moving on, the younger generation is taking over.
>>572923043...so I locked my door and went into minimal power mode. Forgot to mention the hissy fit and extra fines they hit me with when I attempted discussion prior to getting them off my ship. Cunt cost me like 80k total now. Ripped out all the conduit and half the walls from one of the cargo bays. At least I think that's what these nearly empty hallways are for. Got to watch the officer just kinda wander around the ship doing normal idle NPC stuff until a few moment prior to that screenshot. Saw what I thought was some micro-meteor action. But it was just one streak and it's one of the few things I've heard decently while wearing the EVA suit. They checked out permanently instead of taking the Uber back to k-leg. So anyway, I've got a new expansion. Let there be light. Now to move things around and ponder transponder uninstallation risk.

>>572923159in the past I had a great time playing a bunch of games 1 on 1 with a friend but nowadays there's always someone else wanting to join in and we'd feel like jerks turning them down, also my friend group has this deranged thing of always wanting to be all together in the same voice chat (even when playing different games) so communicating properly becomes impossible. Sometimes it feels like I'm the crazy one for wanting to immerse myself into a single player game instead of playing it while hearing half a dozen people babbling in the background

Also, I'm sorry.I did try to fight that boss fair, but after 4 deaths because of dodge latency, I gave up.
>>572927065All the character inventory ui etc systems are more or less directly lifted from neoscav. The game engine follows neoscav core design principles, same kind of unified object system based on conds/condowners, although it is greatly expanded from neoscav's limited scope. It is only reminiscent of SS13 in terms of the milieu and depth/complexity of systems, though those are different.
>>572925661Are you sure? The amount of autism you face really make it feel like you're playing with other humans, or even Am*ricans, rather than with bots.
YAY! Now I can say I beat this game for real. I almost never used gels throughout the run so I had 27 of them before activating the console. It's also the first run where I manage to drop the twin mount and it's quite op.
>>572918379It'd definitely not a game /rlg/ wold care about. If I recall it plays like Kingdom under fire heroes rather than Rogue.
>>572919394Tome is sidegrades. It won't really make the game any easier to change the character gimmick if you don't understand the systems. Unlike buying permanent damage boost for future games or.other typical meta-progression.

I'm planning my Icaru's food buffs, don't die.
Lady Ethereal is giving me trouble. I can't seem to avoid the big AOE in phase three. Tried doing the charged parry and being in the air when it hits but can't seem to avoid it. The second phase three starts you get one swoop attack from the left, then one from the right. I can parry those, but then immediately get hit by that AOE. Am I missing something or just keep trying?
>>572965593You are supposed to bounce off those two parries in order to gain some height, then you can dash for some extra time
>>572959921This is it, this is the run. It's handed me three different weapons and several augments for free, and I'm well kitted out early in the game with a BL2 and Hacking I've not had to make compromises to obtain. If I can't win this run I can never win pretty much.
Used a webpage to plan your Icarus' meal plans to get all the buffs depending on what you are doing. In Icarus the difference between not having food buffs and having them is fughuge. Like having x4 times the HP or stamina, or 50% extra the ranged/melee damage. Which stacks with armor, suits and, suit, weapons and armor mods.
Has anyone here played around with using claude code or other models on games in order to modify them? There's a game I knew my mother would like, but it's not available in her native language. Turns out that 30 mins of fable was enough to translate and patch the tutorial and the description of every mechanic, so I am now what I assume is the sole owner of a Spanish-translated copy of Cursed Words in the planet. I'm really curious as to what else could be done
Hollow knight is some fake difficulty redditor bullshit. Zote the mighty just walks you to the corner in two seconds and then you are just at the mercy of if he’s just gonna trample you or jump and let you out and he kills you in three hits. Feels like I’m playing sf6.

Playing new Voices of the Void update and holy fuck is the base now a complete trashheap. I guess they tweaked it for the people that enjoy the cleanup, but to me it's actually to the point of being overwhelmed and not knowing where to even start. Not helped by everything being changed enough to need relearning.
>>572982043At fucking last, I've beaten it on hard. I feel like I can completely move on to multiverse now, didn't want to touch that with unfinished business left over, but now I have a hard victory with every cruiser on A / B layouts.

>>572987779you got to believe in yourself anon, like i believe in youIf you opened up his arena, do you think you'd have enough room then? And you could have left to come back later, upgrade your weapons? dont mean to come off as an asshole though fren
>>572989157Crap, maybe. But the problem were the big guys. I can defeat the ones with a sword and shield, but I cannot beat the ones with a two-handed mace. And no, I couldn't. I wanted to progress further and he was in the way so I was impatient.
Weird, I got strength and dexterity but I still can't powerstance falchions. And bloody hell, the Heide Knights are bullshit.>yeah bro let me two a two-hit attack without any windup that I can do in the middle of your combo
>Have 1.5x the max required stats of your equipped weapons.>not just strength...fuck.
The only soulslike I've enjoyed is Remnant. I've played bits of DS3 and Elden Ring and ~kinda~ like them, but they just didn't really grab me.Probably the novelty of walking up to an unfathomable horror and popping a .44 in its forehead.
>>572994109I tried many Soulslike, but honestly, I feel like they all focus too much on the difficulty and not enough on the exploring.Dark Souls 2 especially feel like a fever dream, with strange stairs, an elevator that leads into a volcano, and so many odd pathways. It's like that creepy doom mod where you teleport around the map because you keep forgetting you just did that. "The Thing You Can't Defeat", I think it was called. A dementia simulator.
>>572993281FYI, for powerstancing you'll need 150% of the required stat of the weapon. Unrelated, but ADP is incredibly strong.
>>572994829No, not the required stat, only the higher one.So I put a bunch of points into strength when I should've put them into dexterity or ADP or stamina or health or anything else.
>>572994109Remnant From the Ashes is one of my Top 10. Love that game. 2 was pretty much a better game in every way, but I personally don't like the leveling and all that it entails. >>572993281That's the kinda shit they did in Bloodborne. The "idea" is that if a player is hitting them repeatedly, the enemy has a "get out of jail" card, which is a fast as fuck attack. Cheap as fuck. I think Heide Knights are the only enemy that has it in DS2, though.
>>572994998A lot of Dark Souls 2 enemies have something like that. The big hedgehog enemies with the mace have a few slow attacks, but they also have a three-hits combo that has surprisingly little wind-up.If DaS2 had Elden Ring's counter system, I'd murder the fuck out of them.
welp
>>572994109I'd say you have to play the OG (either demon's or dark souls) to really understand the foundational aspect of souls game on the vidya landscape. I genuinely think none of the other games beat DaS in term of level design and how completely hands off and alien it felt at a time when games were progressively getting more streamlined. I don't enjoy souls games much anymore, I find them derivative at best and only Remnant felt like a breath of fresh air but I'd still replay Dark Souls any day.
Shield gun.Good.I wonder if they use it in competitive.
>>573002389If I had to rank UT04's guns, I'd put it dead last, behind the translocator. But the bio gun is still beneath it.
>>573002976Oh yeah, it's very unreliable because it only fires automatically when it's fully charged and there's some latency, so it happens sometimes that despite being fully charged and being in the enemy's range, it won't fire. But I find the shield very interesting for a FPS. I still wonder what the death message if you kill someone with their own link gun bullets to be.Also you can block gravity damage with the shield gun, so it's nice.Biogun a shit though
every survival horror is like this...
>>573010874Just once I want to see the scientists treat their bioengineered murder monster with care and a reasonable amount of ethics.Like, sure, you're creating abhorrent monstrosities that will never know the light of god, but you don't gotta be a dick to it.
>>573011994The problem is that if they do that, there's no game.Monster (the manga) had a chapter about that, an evil psychologist who used to torture and brainwash kids is caught in Germany with 5-6 adopted kids, so you expect him to whip them for fun on a daily basis and the kids to be elated when they escape, but turns out, he realized that being a dick was stupid and that it was a lot more productive to raise them with love. He gets assassinated and they all cry his death.
This is it, limit #1. Weak systems, shit power, 6 crew max, and only two weapon and drone slots each. It's only going to get worse from here. I'll probably just go get the gatling gun, but I'm not sure how I'll manage the crewkill part...I don't think the extra subsystem from Lily's Innovations is gonna help much.
I'm bored of bloons, any good tower defenses you would recommend? Prefereably under $10
>>573018489Do you want a pure tower defense, or a RTS one? Or a first person one?
>lilyinno systems aren't gimped like the othersoof, major oversight.
>>573018816anything as long as it's not just a btd clone
>>573018916For a FPS tower defense, I think Sanctum? Haven't played it myself. For a third-person tower defense, Orcs Must Die is surprisingly fun, but maps are a bit too short: they tend to stop by the time you have solid defenses. For a strategy one, there's They Are Billions and all the genre, but they're very economically focused and turrets are "only" here to take care of the chaff, you're meant to use your army.If you have a potato laptop, there's Immortal Defense, where upgrades are extremely expensive but efficient. And then there's Defense Grid 2.
>>573019497I'll check em out
>>573018489X-Morph Defense X-Morph Defense X-Morph Defense X-Morph Defense X-Morph Defense
>>573019853Be warned I never played BtD so I have no idea how it is. Immortal Defense might be similar to it.
>>573020268birds eye view game where there's a path the enemies follow to the other side of the map and you place your towers near the path. If it sounds similar let me know
+25% damage on enemies born on a Thursday!? Omg that's so OP!
>>573020946Immortal Defense is exactly like that.
>>573019497>For a FPS tower defense, I think Sanctum? Haven't played it myself.I'll vouch for Sanctum. It's a pretty competent mazing tower defence with a lot of viable strategies. The downsides are that there aren't that many maps even with the map pack DLCs, and it's got a bug where occasionally it'll reset your graphics settings. I've heard of people having their progress wiped as well but that's never happened to me in my ~170 hours.
>>573025000 (me)It's also a kino game for getting out of bounds if you enjoy that. The maps are pointlessly huge and detailed outside the field of play, almost everything has collision, the devs were lazy with their invisible walls / kill zones and there's rocket jumping.
Okay so moonring. What's the gimmick of this game? All the steam page talks about is the lore. So you play as a "dreamless" who seek to become an "archon" to represent the gods. But what's the gameplay like? What makes it interesting to play?
>>573028351It's free, just try for yourself and report back so i don't have to
>>573028579I'm asking because I don't really have the time to play everything so I need to make choices. My backlog list is stupidly long.
Look Tully I'm doing my best, okay? I don't like it either.
Alright, Limit 2. Even worse systems, down to 4 crew, AND only 15 hull. If I can win with this, I'll unlock the best ship in the game.Tomorrow. I do not have any more left in me tonight.
Damn the Shock rifle pisses me off. I'm dead sure it deals exactly 45 damage per shot, and you spawn with 100 HP.So you juuuust above two shots to kill a fresh spawn.
>>573028351You didn't read the store page.>Moonring is a retro-inspired open-world, turn-based, tile RPG in the style of the classic Ultima games, but created from the ground up with modern design sensibilities.>The world's geography is hand-designed, but the deadly dungeons beneath the surface reconfigure each time you leave... or die.>Travel, trade, sneak, fight and sail the world of Caldera. >>573031720It's better to think of it as 3 shots to kill with change. iirc due to how the maths works a single small shield pickup won't increase your shots-to-kill from the shock rifle.
>>573032079HUH?>>573031863Wait there's sailing in Moonring? Tell me more, Windrose was a disappointement but I still wanna sail.
>>573028351>>573028579The gimmick is that it's inspired by old Ultimas. You know, the ones nobody usually cares about. Before Garriott started sprinkling in the extra details and trademark interactivity that later on became the basis for the immersive sim genre. So it's a throwback to garriott-flavored early RPG design, but it's not really focused or remarkable in any particular area. It has roguelie elements insofar that the dungeon layouts are basic procgen stuff and there is no manual saving, but permadeath is optional. Some notable differences from modern RPGs include things like no level/xp grinding, classes or builds. Instead, advancement comes from more meaningful unique things, something Garriott always tried to do all the way to Ultima 9. Also filled with archaic but modernized features like keyword dialog (which works as fluently as modern terminals/IDEs), very low fidelity sprites with limited color palette (which are made extra ugly by the game world's prominent moon system periodically hueshifting the entire world), lots of obscure stuff (but made more approachable by automatic journal for everything)Aside from the 80s look and feel, it's a fairly normal top-down grid-based open world RPG. You traverse the overworld map by foot or ship, explore places, talk to people, slay monsters, discover secrets. Bump combat with unlockable abilities. There's a decent stealth system too. The game world itself has some neat unique things like roaming fog that gradually turns everything inside it insane, the moons (there is no sun) and their impact. But being so 80s, every aspect of the game is fairly minimalistic and will probably leave zoomers or even younger millennials desiring more of everything.
>>573032227lol it's not a sailing gameSailing mechanics in Moonring are fairly similar to Horizon's Gate (wind system, ship cannons, boarding), except everything is more minimalistic. One ship type, two cannon types, no ship equipment management, no crew management, no bulk cargo trading, no fleets.
>>573033193Sadge.Back to Man O'War.
>>572994323Every one took the wrong lessons from Darl Souls 1. It wasn't cool because it was difficult or because the combat was great. It was cool because it was a weird janky 3d dungeon crawler with thoughtful world design, and it didn't conform to the streamlining trends of its generation. It was surprising and brutal, but also charming and clever.
>>573034110I love Dark Souls 2 because it manages to look and feel open despite being extremely linear, just by playing with the level design and appearance. What annoys with Dark Souls 2 is that the game is meant for people who played a lot of Dark Souls 1, and Scholar of the First Sin even more so.
>>573034110Too bad endless hordes of normalfags piled on the memes. They were fun, but now as a consequence there is an entirely new breed of retard that gamers frequently have to deal with.

Odd things you find though.>>572934472It's... a colony builder, technically. You're scrapping to improve the ship you bought with near 1mil mortgage while also paying that off. There's a lot of maint to think about, you can repair (fix from being broken)/restore (improve buffer damage to prevent breaking) damn near anything. I spent a bit of time shitting around polishing up a job kiosk on the station in hopes that it would maybe clean up the graffiti on it. No such luck, but I did get faction rep for my effort. There's gasses and contaminants you've got to worry about. EVA suits and other gear have batteries that you've got to manage. You can set them to autotask and queue up a lot of different work bits, but some things can be done a good deal faster with things like dollys and carrying a case to pick up parts instead of doing auto haul one by one. The scale, for some things is bigger. Like, you can go around the whole Sol system if you can get your hands on the equipment to do so. Torch drive and a reactor for long term power needs. Enough resources (N2 for RCS thrusters, N2 and O2 for atmos, food/water/lodging for your pawn(s). You start as a single shipbreaker and can interact with any NPC you meet, little discussion game thing. The selections are tied to stats per person. Over time you can, for instance, smoove your way with an enemy you made in the brig to get access to the black market. Also: "They see us as: Crush, Friend". Even flying the ships is looking at consoles you'd kinda expect to see inside a slightly past spacefaring version of reality. I'm just really digging it.
>>573045056>N2 and O2 for atmosTechnically, you don't NEED N2.Nothing wrong with a pure oxygen atmosphere.

>>573045056Nav Console. Comms doubles as the docking controls. Have to bring yourself into docking range and line up ports while adjusting for drift.>>573045238Oh, yeah, overly oxygen ratio'd environments have a great bonus of pointing out where you've got damaged cables.
>>573045394Simple Mission or Operation?I only bother for a few iron tools and just jump directly to steel too. Which reminds me I should probably finish all the operations I have left.
>>573045743Completely forgot. But yeah, I grew tired of my save, but I have too much shit to move and Icarus has no sled or wagon, so I was tempted to call it quit and be done with sandbox for a while.
>>573045736The nav console customization system is kinda annoying, because half of the modules are useless, OR mostly useless with one critical feature that you don't get from anywhere else. That, and you can't rotate the modules. You need at least 2 consoles to fit everything you want on a bigger ship. But I guess it's not too bad since it provides redundancy. I guarantee you, the nav software WILL crash 2 minutes before docking and then your character needs 14 minutes to debug it.
so far all the stars seem impossible to get... am I just too dumb for them or am I knowledge gated right now?
>>573045736>Have to bring yourself into docking range and line up ports while adjusting for drift.Have they really changed it?When I tried this garbage, docking simply meant being within like 200 meters of a point in 2D space. There's no collision, no crashes, no speed consideration. Just aligning the compass.
>>573045736Note the target data and distance. I'm supposed to be able to get out here and do some shit with the asteroids in the belt. New tools and all that. Plus a bunch of weird, kinda spoopy shit on the periphery. It is in early access though, so there's more planned, but some of it is placeholders right now.>>573046161Do you regularly restore your console's internals? Mostly ask out of curiosity as I had that happen once and it took me a few to find the debug in the right click for the console. Also: with two consoles, how viable is having two crew members and switching back and forth at .25 speed? I've not yet seen anything to do with ship combat, so I guess I'll find out at some point.
>>573046645There's collision but it is quite lenient. Characters and ships can withstand impacts at highway speeds no problem. Going significantly above that will still destroy and kill everything. Also docking is a lot harder when you're dealing with orbital mechanics like chasing after a planetary cycler station instead of gently floating in the scrapyard where relative velocities are so tiny they basically round down to zero.
>>573031863That says absolutely nothing about the game itself.>Terraria is a retro-inspired open world, real-time, action-platformer inspired by MinecraftSee how that says nothing about the game?>Over 390 varied enemy types, from fodder to bosses>Over 5000 unique items
>>573045056>There's a lot of maint to think about, you can repair (fix from being broken)/restore (improve buffer damage to prevent breaking) damn near anything. I spent a bit of time shitting around polishing up a job kiosk on the station in hopes that it would maybe clean up the graffiti on it.Getting the feeling it's a weird mix between My Summer Car (everything breaks down instantly), Space Station 13 (lot of maintenance needed, even for menial stuff like tags), and Animal Crossing for the debt. And I'm sorry to say this, but it does NOT sounds fun.
>>573046730Ha, however this looks fun. I have a craving for realistic-looking consoles I watched Sseth's review about that weird Russian fleet game.
>>573045847>and Icarus has no sled or wagonThere are carts for 3 types of animals, and extra cargo saddlebags too. Unless bred and level up they are not too fast, but is still very good to move your base. And normal saddlebags for other animals that have a bunch of cargo slots, plus there are talents for when you level up your pets that give more cargo slots and weight capacity. Which with moas you can move fast more stuff than you can on do on foot.
>>573047339ohGuess I ran out of excuses.
>>573045847>>573047339>>573047527The cart has 72 slots and can carry 1300ish kgs without talents or breeding stats.I'm thinking of making a dedicated rancher character to minmax pets. I heard that with 6-8 maxed out pets you can leave them to kill bosses on their own without losses.
>>573046730>Do you regularly restore your console's internals?I restore the modules to 100% once and never touch them again. Ship's always at >99.9 condition except doors because they wear out stupidly fast between fastforward autorepairs. The consoles crash randomly regardless of condition. Usually at the worst possible moment.>how viable is having two crew members Not viable in any scenario. NPCs are too retarded to seriously consider using yet. They need too much babysitting. They won't even go to toilet on their own, they literally will get so full of shit they'll die of it if you don't micro them. They also have food water and hygiene needs, which isn't fun to fulfill with the limited amount of stuff sold on kiosks. They also waste a ton of the stuff if you don't micro them religiously.
>>573047598>NPCs are too retarded to seriously consider using yet. They need too much babysitting. They won't even go to toilet on their own, they literally will get so full of shit they'll die of it if you don't micro them. After my last experience playing Void Crew, that sounds accurate.

>>572983106First time ever interacting with Multiverse here, any experts present? What I want to know is, what's the OP shit? Like, what's the top 5 weapons, drones or augments I should be looking out for? I don't want to accidentally skip over the multiverse version of a Flak 1 or Burst Laser Mk2 simply because I don't know any better.
>>573049268>I think I just caught a meteorLucky. Nowadays micrometeorite impacts are so rare near 1036 ganymed that some players don't experience any before heading out, leaving them ill-prepared for their journey.
>>573049754There's a hard CURA task for a pretty dope defensive Omnidrone if your ship does drones. Ancient ayy tech is generally better than modern equivalents and looks like they're advertising monster energy. Anything with a lightning bolt symbol means it's upgraded somehow compared to a regular version. Elite weapons are generally better than non elite ones. If your ship has a crewkill method transports are guaranteed to drop upgraded loot.
>>573049268Scallywag came at me. It didn't turn out well for him. But now we're moving and no one is in control.
>>573050289I don't understand like 90% of what you just said, but I'll keep it in mind and understand it as I find examples, thanks.
>>573051031He begged for mercy. I went to my console. He demanded I give him the goods for the second time. I shot until his EVA suit broke and I demanded surrender. I waited for him to wander a bit closer to the airlock so I wouldn't have to drag the lifeless scallywag as far.LiDAR will be a fine addition to my sensor suite. Pull at the xpdr gamba while I'm here. Also had a CO2 sensor I snagged before coming in with the dolly for the bigger bits. Don't know if I'll risk the console with my estimated time to dilly dally.
>>573054659RIP Braden Mclean.
>>573054832He might have lived had he let me get to my console before flappin' his gums. Now I see I've got a bit of extra time as I'm drifting off this way and it looks pretty clear for a bit. I'm definitely getting that console now.
>>573055394But he didn't. Rest in space. Hopefully he's already dead.
>>573047339Are you the resident Icarus shill? I've been looking for you, got a question before pulling the trigger on the game: I'm a bit confused about the gameplay loop. I've heard all the base building is "temporary", you drop into a map, extract some resources and eventually leave to fulfill some mission to gain better starting gear for the next loop. But someone also said they added a persistent mode or something? Care to explain?
>>573055394What are you even targeting? Check your vrel/eta to oklg since that's your lifeline. If you're not floating away from it at an insane rate you can just cut power to your ship and spend as long on salvaging as you need without worrying about any immediate time pressure. Also always try salvaging transponders. They usually break but when they don't, they're worth all the brouzouf.
>>573049754Restarted a few runs early because of bullshit, mostly that one thing where you capture a rebel and then he either kills a crew or doubles fleet pursuit, fuck them all.I've sold my entire starting setup for this meme shit, I got a fire laser, a breach beam that's basically a bio beam as well and pierces a shield, a very fast firing single shot laser, and a repair bomb that costs no power which I got for free that lets me repair hull on demand.Going by normal FTL standards this is fucking insane and would be a guaranteed win vs the flagship on hard pretty much, but let's see how it does in Multiverse.
>>573056582>Care to explain? There are 3 game modes.>Operations:Original game mode, you have X mount of hours(from 6 to several days), each Operation has one or several steps to complete. You are dropped into a map with whatever meta-progression gear you have bought with the meta-resource. If you don't have any, you work without it. You do the main mission and then extract from the planet. The map is deleted.>Open World:>Persistent map in which you can do 3 types of activities. Simple Missions, Operations and Great Hunts(DLC).You can drop with your meta-progression gear, and leave and come back any time. So you can have a single player map, and move your character with your meta progression gear to a multiplayer map with friends, or one of the other DLCs maps.Simple missions are that, very simple missions like "kill X amount of Y" or "craft Y amount of X", and you get either one of the meta-currencies, or some random stuff like seed packets, or resources,. Operations are like the original Operation mode, but you can do them in a persistent map. So no need to use meta-progression gear and can just tech up and use planetside gear, without need to restarting.Great Hunts is a DLC type of operation, in which you track, hunt and kill a one of the special world bosses.Open World is great, because you can farm the meta resources without time limit or needed to grind all the tech level, same as for the operations and huntings.>Outpost maps: Which are just very small persistent maps, for building pretty things. Can't do much there.I would get this bundle that has all the content stuff and not the bazillion cosmetic ones. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/33857/Icarus_Prospector_Edition/
>>573056553Before I started dragging him, yes. He had an empty handgun in the crate he was carrying, and dropped a Knuckleduster when I stripped him.
>>573057730I'm targeting this derelict I was aiming toward when the gacha ball threw me off course. I was more referring to being able to check out fewer ships on a single venture rather than spending time on a single one. I've got a signal box set up to go down to minimal power plus a few lights for working in the cargo area. Also: when I took that screenshot, I was still locked to his capsule so I couldn't maneuver anyway. I totally tried for the xpdr, but to no avail. Was able to get the LiDAR, all his cans, a CO2 sensor, and a nav console though. With the cans I might be up in fuel, now that I think about it.
>>573057268It almost works as well as I'd hoped, but not quite. I thought the fast firing laser would fire fast enough to outpace the shield, but even with max skill the shield recharges slightly faster. With a weapons reloading augment it might be able to do it.
>>573057268light 1 is 4s, light 2 is 2.5s if I recall. shield recharge is 2 seconds I think.
One day, I'll make it out of this frozen hellhole I dread to see the flax requirement for the sails
>>573057642Neat, thanks for the rundown. Open World definetely sounds like my kind of thing. I prefer to play these games to build up something that lasts and continues to benefit my gameplay.>I would get this bundle that has all the content stuff and not the bazillion cosmetic onesvery nice, it's always such a chore with these kinds of games, to sift through dozens of DLC to figure out which of them are actually essential.

>>572808435>Reverse CollapseNTA, but thanks for reminding that this was sitting on my wishlist. This sale looks like a good opportunity to buy it.So far looks nice, but i literally only did the first mission yet. Also for some dumb reason decided to play on challenge+ so let's see when i regret that.
>>572770481Why did he do it?
Finished Rusted Moss, right length for a metroidvania imo and the movement and platforming were great. I didn't do 100% of stuff but I played the vast majority of content and did all the bonus areas. As for the things I didn't like the map is too barebones, there are no pins so good luck remembering where that one room you left for later was, and it doesn't even have the names of the areas (the names of the teleports are different for some reason). Also I didn't care much for the combat, the gauntlets were either trivial or annoying and some fights were just cancer like the side content section in webm related.Still a good game overall with a nice aesthetic, I'm looking forward to the dev's next title
>>573074029Can't you dial down in the same game if it's too hard?
>>573076457yeah, seems so. so at least i won't end up with a bricked save due to skill issue.I just saw a lot of reviews mentioning the difficulty of the game so i wanna see what's the worst it can offer.
>>573077960It's a game that got super duper casual mode for true casuals added because the casual mode apparently wasn't easy enough.

I don't think I have it in me to beat Eigong.
>>573074029Reverse Collapse is fucking great. Can't recommend it enough. One thing to note that you may not realize initially, upgrading an item that can be a material for a different item upgrades the end result too. So upgrading your grenades makes your trip mines stronger for instance.

>>573088826It got me a new ship though, so 100% worth it.
>>573088826Fire bomb is good, 1 power for starting fires. Can't go wrong with that.Crystal bomb synergizes fantastically with fire weapons, as it'll keep people from rushing in and extinguishing the fire (and keep anyone already burning, inside)Breach is fine if you just want to systembreak with a side of asphyxiation, but goes terribly with fireIf you have TRC, the Shrapnel bomb is my all-time favorite bomb. 1 power, does standard damage, AND 1 damage to adjacent rooms. Absolutely fantastic and is the reason why it was relegated to the 'busted shit' expansion.
>>573061643>very nice, it's always such a chore with these kinds of games, to sift through dozens of DLC to figure out which of them are actually essential.Yeah. Between the players asking for permanent maps, and more decoration content, devman made a ton of DLCs for buildfagging. But outside those three DLCs(Dangerous Horizons, Great Hunts and New Frontiers), it's just either decorations like new furniture or already existing stuff like dogs or furniture with a new a model. Things like sheep, cows, breeding and so on was added for free to the base game.

Decided to dive back into the 1999 Alice game again after dropping it few months. From what I can tell, there isn't a reliable way of avoiding damage, and once multiple enemies are close, you have to play aggressively and deal more damage than you take.Is there any other general advice going back into this? This game is a little bit hard.

Almost done with my first playthrough of AC Black Flag. It's a long shot with Ubisoft, but if the remake actually delivers on significant gameplay and level design improvements, then it might be one of the rare worthwhile remakes
>>573129290Oh? What's different?
>>573129778Main things are smoother parkour, a new combat system, and apparently tailing missions don't fail when you're detected anymore
>>573131498Oh, new combat? Does this rely less on counters? I remember this being a problem with Assassin's Creed, it was all about parries.
>>573129290>AC4 remakewhat? Did they also remake the previous ones or did they decide to jump right into this one for some reason?
>>573058472The wreck wasn't much, but got a few pieces of a reactor setup, 4 batteries, and this run's second nav console. Next aimed at the ? at about 8 o'clock. That other ? about 2/3'd the way there along that direct east dotted line ended up being another pirate. I locked my cargo door behind me and they shortly met me there. They got a good chop on my arm with a fuckin' cutlass first shot and I missed too badly from that point until I died a few rounds later. Autosave was just as I was pulling away from the wreck. Rerun, I slow to a crawl, get dressed, gun out, unlock my door and wait for them to dock. THUNK, wait a moment, see them drink something and head my direction. See them breach my airlock and make the shot. Still not terribly accurate. Moved a bit to be closer but hopefully not too close for the cutlass that was again brandished. They're down now. Yeah you def like you love a good gossip
>>573137641Alrighty, that one's got some pumps and a few more reactor parts, but I'm on the full side and need to leave some room on the floor for component repairs on the return trip.>>573138168When the other anon says anything he does mean it. That's a cartridge that goes in my PDA. There's cards (about 11, depending) in each the Nav Consoles that are in various states of disrepair. They'll all need to be pulled out and placed on the floor in order to be restored to like new condition. The conduits (yellow cabling runs) you see are along the "roof" of the ship. Each of them needs to be kept in good condition or they'll spark and have a chance to catch a fire, which is not something you want in a big metal bubble.

>>573140790>Dude, it's just a HP bar. I'm sure you know how those work.I literally don't. Usually, bars fill from the left to the right, but here, it's the opposite, and the green part starts from the right? Why?!I'm sorry, I'm just stuck on this because it confuses me.And Confuses said, "if you don't know, ask". Then he added "no, not with my daughter, you hobo".
>>573141084Read the rest of the post, you big ol autismo. It works exactly like a normal HP bar. Your mind is stuck deep imagining some weird shit that doesn't exist.

Especially since I remember certain skills/buffs/debuffs making your game more difficult if you have/don't have them.
>>573140605Yes, it depetes. At brand new, pristine condition, the bar is full of red and green. The equipment functions as you would expect it to. As you go about doing things, wear and tear happens to your tools that you are using. The act of piloting your ship causes wear on your hull. You can hear creaking as you apply thrust. It's usually not a whole lot at once, but it's something you need to keep an eye on. As it takes damage from whatever, the green will drop and cause a higher and higher chance of malfunction. Green runs out and the item enters a [Broken] status and will not work unless repaired, usually requiring some parts either mechanical or electrical, and some bits of scrap carbon fiber/steel/aluminum. Until you repair the damaged red bar, you can't restore the green bar.>>573140750Got back to station. Still have some stuff to repair up, but this was PDA files and already restored stuff the black market would take.
>>573142648Oh. You can do that. The career kiosk part of character creation has options to seek adventure (random CYOA bits), work on yourself (pick the traits you want with a time cost) or save money (useless waste of time) before seeking a ship.

The Farseer mod really helps with that though, makes ocean exploration more fun too.>my heart isn't fully into it because I know that if 1.23 will introduce riverYeah, I'm also always a bit hesitant to commit to a forever world because of stuff like that. Might ditch it again. And other than that only got a handful of QoL like making ore more visible with Jucy Ores>I've read that you can reset chunks somehowyeah, I did that. This world was created in 1.21It works fine, but can be fucky sometimes. For instance it re-randomizes resources so after resetting none of my map markers for ore deposits and fruit trees in reset chunks were accurate anymore. Lost a nice bit of exposed silver thanks to that, unfortunately. Also there are a few other things, like sometimes on a border between chunks that did and didn't get reset I would have half-lakes that cut off and turn into an empty valley suddenly. I'm just living with it right now, switching over to creative to fix some stuff by hand if it looks to jarring. But overall it makes me think that I should just migrate between big terrain gen updates. Also I think there is a way to copy selections between worlds, so if you built a really pretty base, especially on a flat-ish surface, it is possible to just copy it over.
>>573247574It has expanded in my direction. I'm in danger. I want at least one of those cargo pods though. I can just uninstall a wall near the airlock. Then I'm out of here. I'll bring a sample back with me.
>>573247218>>573247782Oh, speaking of settings, another thing I would love to try out, is setting my respawn radius insanely high. Because oftentimes nature is a lot more dangerous than they could ever be and I hate that I can't just camp out in the open by a campfire while exploring. Also I'm pretty sure getting lost and starving in a cave is also a bigger threat than the annoyance that are some drifters, at least once you get some armor.
>>573248051IIRC prospecting and story maps work differently if you have map disabledIMO no map + huge random respawn radius isn't a good fit for the game unless you play with story content disabled.>Also I'm pretty sure getting lost and starving in a cave is also a bigger threat than the annoyance that are some drifters, at least once you get some armor.LOLCope or ignorance?
