People who don't consider chapter 5 the best chapter so far I'll never understand. This Is the first chapter where It felt wrong to seal the dark fountain and despite thinking I had long since became jaded and cynical I got really emotional over It. These flowers are living things and for the first time In their lives they were able to Interact with others, try things, and be who they wanted to be. Maybe this is old news, but I think Kris started distancing himself from Noelle because of the Soul, which probably took control over him around when Dess went missing. The soul is what let him close the fountain, thus making it not an active threat. It also explains why Carol and Asgore already seem to know about it.Having your actions decided for you, and living in your own body as a silent prisoner sounds like absolute hell. I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to maintain relationships considering all the bullshit we make him do.Maybe that's why seeing Noelle and Susie together hurts him so much. He knows that one of them would have been him if he was just allowed to just be himself unambiguously for once.That's why I like the scene at the Holiday Manor in chapter 4 where we just see Kris taking a few minutes to drink some chocolate milk, and play the piano. But then he's told that he needs the soul for what they're planning, and he's devastated.I really don't have an idea why whatever plan Kris, Carol, and maybe the Knight are doing can't be explained to Susie and Noelle. Maybe Asgore was letting himself be captured, and that's why he didn't fight back.The best part is that I think all of the answers to these questions could be brought up and resolved in half a conversation. That's the thing about this sort of theory-driven story as opposed to something like Five Nights at Freddy's or Dark Souls. Those two are intentionally incomplete stories meant to be figured out, while Deltarune is a naturally incomplete story meant to be speculated on while awaiting the answers we can be reasonably confident are coming.
