I can understand the Iconoclast position of being more pragmatic and being less strict with the Imperium dogma's, but there is literally no reason why you would keep around Idira, Yrlet or Marzifag regardless of your alignment.
All 3 put everyone else and your entire crew in danger or can't be trusted at all.
I hope there's a much better reason to actually have xeno allies that make sense.

>but muh dead crewman, muh warp threat
dont use warp travel either then.

Yrilet is your way into having good relations with Eldar. Janus proves having Eldar as your gardeners + early warning system against drukeks is the best thing that can happen to a RT dynasty.

Keeping Marz as anything but a pet doesnt make sense i agree.

Her premonition clearly worked out so well for the previous RT lol. I'd rather not have a ticking time bomb with an unsanctioned psyker who is more dangerous than helpful and is not even remotely comparable to how necessary warp travel is.
Keeping Yrilet after what happens in Act 3 is really retarded but before that makes sense.

Every time I have played with Idira after Act I or whenever I can replace her with someone else has always resulted her killing herself or even getting the whole party killed. Gameplay wise, she's literally been worse than having no one so I almost never bother with her psychic powers.
I kill her every single playthrough as a result.

WOTR has QoL and general improvements that might make Kingmaker seem even more rough than it already is
I'd recommend starting with Kingmaker, but there's honestly no need to finish it if you end up not liking it, since they're not connected at all
>>
>>572939505
Is Kingmaker's story and companions make the game worth playing? WotR has a really great power fantasy story, does Kingmaker make you feel like you are an actual head of state?
>>
>>572940353
Yes, as the name implies, it's a game about your rise to become king.
You start out as a baron as the reward for beating the current ruler of those lands in act 1
>>
>>572940353
I don't really like most of the companions, but I know that some do really like them
The set-up for the story is good, and it's quite varied. How much you'll like the story is going to be up to you, but imo it was good
Worst part of being a head of state is kingdom management, mostly because it's made to be as awful as possible
>>
>>572940723
>mostly because it's made to be as awful as possible

>boosting the economy stat doesn't actually improve your income any more than other stats

Probably yes, but she would be deeply annoying about it. Minthara would evaluate it like a field ration for officers: warm, compact, savory, portable, protein-heavy, and structurally efficient.

The egg would help. It is recognizable, practical, and not overly sweet. The Canadian bacon gives it a salted, cured-meat quality that fits a martial, travel-ready meal. The English muffin is plain enough not to offend her. The cheese is the risky part. She might initially view it as suspicious surface alchemy, then grudgingly accept that it improves the whole thing.

She would probably dislike the branding, the wrapper, the cheerfulness of McDonald’s, and any implication that breakfast should be “fun.” But if it arrived warm and properly made, she would finish it.

I think her actual verdict would be:

Egg McMuffin: 7.5/10
Hash brown: 9/10 if crisp, 3/10 if soggy
Coffee: acceptable only black
McGriddle: absolutely despised
Sausage McMuffin with Egg: possibly preferred over the original

The key point is that Minthara would enjoy it, but she would refuse to admit she enjoyed it. She would call it “adequate,” ask who commands this “McDonald’s,” and then quietly order another.

Dogmatics believe warp miracles happen because the literal emperor literally heard their prayer and cared enough personally to intervene, iconoclasts recognize that belief = warp magic and can be used to defend against chaos. Heretics believe the emperor is dead therefore the only true path is submission to warp demons

I was asking for opinions in the summer sale threads about Rogue Trader vs. DoS2 and one guy said Owlcat basically values quantity over quality. Just piles and piles of okay "things" to do instead of anything really exciting or well done.
>>
>>572945874
>Owlcat basically values quantity over quality
Obviously I haven't played much of Rogue Trader because it's just too sloppy out of the gate, but that's very true based on WOTR. Constant nonsense encounters, constant novels of not very good text, random encounters, save scum design, etc. Quantity over quality is the best way to say it. DOS2 is much, much better.
>>
>people didn't bite the bait so now he's replying to himself
lol
>>
>>572946378
larian mindbroke him
>>
You'll notice they always avoid replying to whoever is supposedly replying to themselves, to avoid the rigmarole where they post a screenshot showing they aren't replying to themselves, and then the accusing party has to scamper away and mutter "y-you used the console" to themselves. If they would just enable poster IDs on every board it would improve quality immediately, and there's no reason they haven't other than they actively want the site to be as faggy as possible.

It kind reminds me of my fanfiction days.

You'll come across stories that follow all the rules, have good length, and are about characters/settings you're into but for one reason or the other the words just dont pop off the page. Then you'll also find stories that are full of grammar mistakes but are fucking exhilarating to read.
>>
>>572945874
I wish DOS2 didn't bore me every time I play it. I don't even know why it does.
>>
>>572946849
Lots of writing is fine if it's good. But Owlcat doesn't write anywhere near well enough to justify the volume.
>>
>>572947034
One thing I'll say is watching videos of DOS2 already made me dislike the narrator.
I really hope Divnity's narrator is a female voice and not a m*le one. Although given how much more popular Larian is now post BG3, even if it's a m*le one there will probably be mods to replace it.

Yes, if you play a story heavy game and complain about a story heavy part of the game, you would best be served by going back to Madden and Fortnite, games more suited for your archetype. Most crpgs make you do an entire new playthrough just to see any story expansions, so I really appreciate that this crpg puts them as separate adventures entirely. We'll be going through those later of course, but for now let's enjoy the main story.
>>

One cool thing they've added since launch as an accessibility feature is the ability to skip certain portions of the game that might have been offensive to more "urban" audiences that expect their games to be more about collecting rings and coins and less about exploring a narrative. I know I know, narrative is a core part of the CRPG experience, but we have some gamers these days that can't even spell CRPG, and they need to be accommodated too. But for this playthrough let's go with the full experience.

As a CRPG, VTMB2 really hits you with the choice and consequences right off the bat. The first choice is a pretty major one, whether we'll have a dick or a vagina. This will impact things like our voice, how certain characters react to us, the availability of certain blood resonance types and a lot of other stuff. For now, let's go with a female character so that we can roleplay a lesbian. I'll be making her hair blonde later.
>>
That option is not available to new players actually.

Just as well, sometimes a game can be TOO accessible. We'd all be better off had there been more of an effort to gatekeep things back in the day. Afterall, I can't play Madden and skip the football, why should Tyrone Hoodball be able to skip the roleplaying here?

Annnnnnnyways, the intro to the game is pretty neat, and gives a good preview of how good the voice acting is goign to be (really good). I also like that it foreshadows story events that aren't clear the first time, but you notice the second time. Based!

The opening to the game is pretty neat, and probably better paced than the original back alley shootout in the first one. I really like that you can see your body in first person, and that the game doesn't swap you around just because you tried to punch someone. It doesn't do as well with first person immersion as Cyberpunk, but its up there.

I also really like the reactive crosshair, so you the player get a hint that Phyre the character has detected something via the Inspection feat, but without it being so garish as a blue glitter sparkle all over the screen. Clever way to signal things to the player without breaking immersion, which is pretty important (to me) in a CRPG.

More CRPGs should have a codex. These games usually have a lot of lore, and if you aren't familiar with the ins and outs it gets pretty overwhelming pretty quickly. Who the hell is Iomadae? Who is Lolth? Why?

That said, I do sort of miss the old inventory system in the first game. Once you're about half way through a twenty hour CRPG obviously you've picked up a lot of items, and having items and quests and people and lore all jumbled together is a bit of a mess.

you control a country not a character, their traits are randomly generated stat buffs and even if you try to pretend you're playing as your king/leader he'll die 50 turns into the campaign while you keep going so it's not like you have a consistent main character
by that logic civilization is way more of a crpg than total war

Her romance is good because its extremely well paced. I didn't post the brother talks because I wasn't sure if it was bullshit or not, I suspect I will find out soon enough (and then there would be a lot to discuss there either way), but they pace very well her being vulnerable with her putting up a wall and calling herself a whore to try to disgust you and push you away. A modern game would have used the bodycount as a quirky throaway to show how independent she is, but here the matter is actually taken seriously both by the characters and the writer.

Obviously, her behavior is extremely toxic, only some characters could romance her, the majority could not, but its easily the most invested I've been in a crpg romance. Even if I were to not romance her, however, I would still want to help her, so it is kind of a shame all of her personality is basically locked in secret for players who either did not romance her or failed her romance in one of her various traps she sets to sabotage herself.

Stealth is much more fun here, a bit like Dishonored. You still have the crouch sneaking and assassin attack from behind, but also just more options from the better movement and verticality. And like any other CRPG we must now pick our class. We'll go with Tremere this time. You're not quite locked out of character development options if you pick the wrong clan, but it does make things easier or harder to obtain, and changes how different characters will react to you.

Like any other CRPG you invest your XP into different skill points, here disciplines. In some ways this is much less advanced than the original, in some ways more. There's no skills for sneaking or lockpicking, it's all disciplines, but the disciplines are much more fleshed out. I would prefer something like the first, but there's still a lot of room for character expression here, and the disciplines are less same-y.

Each rank also gives you different appearance options, which are much more in depth than they were in the first. Different characters react negatively or positively depending on how you're dressed, and it's not a simple tier upgrade. This is one area where the sequel actually outshines the original, and probably the biggest difference. There's a lot of little changes baked in here, much better than paying Fat Larry for an extra point of soak.

I would peg the block around St. Stephen's to be about the size of the Santa Monica hub, and that's not counting the verticality. Reddit spacing is this, a space after a quote or reply. It's necessary on reddit, but not here. You and other redditors came over in 2016, saw people saying "reddit spacing", had no idea what it meant, and just sort of decided it meant linebreaks as though nobody on 4chan ever hit enter before. Because in WHF the elven split is the result of an actual civil war between the elves, while the 40k elven split is just a result of different ways to cope with the same external phenomenon

The druchii were "born" as an ethnicity specifically as people who were exiled from Ulthuan and want to do nothing more than slaughter every single high elf and take the island back. Druchii basically only exist to hate other elves.

That's a good question. Part of it is I like talking about video games, especially CRPGs. That's something that used to be easy to do online, but as the internet has shrunk and become more accessible to barely human pseudo-people - often seen here - it has become harder and harder to find. I can go to r*ddit where people are able to read a complete sentence without a meltdown, but then you also have crazy shit like pretending Veilguard is good because it has trannies in it. I can come here where people are a little more honest, but then you also have a large population of jeets and spiritual jeets.

Part of it is I just don't feel inclined to cede ground to retards. If you say something retarded, why wouldn't I point it out to you? What are you going to do, shoot me? I know most of you act like it's this huge personal investment to correct you online because it would take you half a year to type a whole sentence, but it's a pretty casual thing for sentient people.

It's good. I like it.
I remember doing that Gothic playthrough on /crpgg/ all those years ago. I am still ashamed I never finished it properly.

>a spelling mistake
Not what we're talking about, this is another example of you jumping to a very different conclusion. You do this because you're not very smart, and it makes using the English language to communicate with you very similar to trying to communicate with a jeet. Your problem isn't spelling or grammar, but conveying ideas and interpreting very simple ideas in return, a problem you've demonstrated repeatedly by doing things like assuming anyone is talking about spelling. You're stupid, in other words. And unfortunately most anons are, it's why you stick to communicating in monosyllabic grunts and "based" (see >>572969008 immediately defaulting to the projection script) and little cartoon doodles. "Look, the cartoon says I'm right, that seals the deal man!"

It's also why these threads are just so awful now. How can you possibly carry on a conversation with people who don't even get the language? You can't. All you can do is watch them grunt at each other about waifu asshole sniffing and whatever else enters into their monkey brain.

>>572969494
I walk into retard alley and lament that retards are allowed to live, yes. There shouldn't be a retard alley. That could have been a nice alley, if only someone would round up all the retards and send them to internment camps.

>>572969662
>hours ages ago
Oh man, look at that, it's mister aloof who totally came back after such a long time, what do you know. He's definitely not an anon who's been very angry all this time, he just got here. I hope it gets better too anon, but I don't see any way for that to happen without you picking up an extra 20 IQ, and that doesn't seem likely. It seems more likely you'll be complaining about sentences and waifu virginity tomorrow. And tomorrow's tomorrow. Forever and ever. "I uh, I didn't even read", I know buddy, I know.

What are you fags arguing about today? It sure ain't crpgs far as I can see

I pointed out the various ways that anonbots are kind of dumb, and they became very upset about it and are running through their scripted replies. I didn't read, I just got here, I am aloof, and so on.

>>572970186
Where else would I go to mock retards? Genius valley? Normal guy beach? Retard alley is the best pick for retard mocking, retard. Although your language would be a little more precise to describe it like being marooned on planet retard. It's not like I can just go to a different site and find better people talking about CRPGs.
>>
>>572970206
No, even that was more a proxy for the way very stupid people become hiveminded anons.

>>572970350
Of course. "You're wasting half a holiday by posting on this website!" proclaims man posting on this website. "I'm not mad, you're mad! I'm aloof, I said so!"

>>572970416
VTMB2 is as much a CRPG as anything else. There isn't a soul here who could give a coherent definition of CRPG that encompassed every game you regularly discuss here, and not just because there's hardly a soul here who could spell CRPG either.

>>572970423

You have greater patience than I do. I got rid of her on my first playthrough. In one of my later playthroughs I once again tried to sit through her story, but couldn't do it and gave up even faster than on the initial try. Sometime you just have to accept the fact that you can't stand a character and move on. No need to torture yourself

Oh, interesting, so the issue was not the english language as you claimed here? >>572968418
"struggle with the foundational concepts of the language" - Which implies an issue with communicating with foreigners, merely a language barrier!
(Remember you raised this point to counter this >>572968001 , so you claimed the issue didn't lie with disagreement owed to anons being too low iq, but with a simple language barrier)

The issue is one of comprehension and IQ? It would seem like you have moved the goalpost (twice), because you could not defend the positions you were holding
>people who don't even get the language?
Oh we are back at the language? But you JUST SAID I didn't understand you because of the IQ, not the language? Because we are all so dumb and you are so intelligent?

Anon I will tell you what you don't want to hear: the issue with your arguments is not that the arguments are too goods for the plebs to understand, the issue is that you are retarded and do not see your own retardation.
We convey and receive ideas just fine, your ideas are simply wrong

Why are these tech priests hanging from a tree in a random underhive sector which functions as a borderline abandoned and degenerated slum. Is this normal. Why not just go to another assignment. >>
>>572971510
>at no point was it about spelling mistakes or typos
I know, I am just forcing you to admit it, which is why I even linked my original post >>572968001

My accusation was that you think of everyone who disagrees of your retardation as low iq jeets, and your counter to that was one about comprehension of the english language. Try to keep up

>you're embarrassing yourself
I am not anon, you are just unironically too low iq to follow a post chain.
By admitting its not about language at all, you are discarding half your posts and return to your original position "anyone who disagrees with me is indian.... because they are!"
>>
>>572971827
Yeah, fair. I think this one is still just being a contrarian though.
>>
>>572970993
>so the issue was not the english language
No, it was. It's an issue you just demonstrated, where you quoted me saying "conveying ideas and interpreted very simple ideas" and then thought this was a separate concern from "the english language" because of the very thing I was discussing. The typical pattern for /crpgg/ and 4chan as a whole is that someone says something very simple, clear, and beyond debate, only for someone like yourself to misunderstand and begin arguing with something orthogonal to the statement. "I like pancakes" becomes "this guy hates waffles, get him!" because this place is filled with spiritual jeets, people who might speak English well enough to say good morning, but not well enough to really communicate. Even this simple re-re-re-re-re-reexplanation will evade you, because that's the curse of 4chan - we have to use English to communicate with people who can't understand English, even though they've been speaking it their whole lives. It's like being a modern Sisyphus.

>>572971052
>suddenly switching
Is it suddenly switching? Or is it a restatement of what I've said for well over two hours, maybe three? Think hard.

>>572971214
>getting btfo and humiliated
Eh, that never really happened. What happens is I say something correct, some howler monkeys howl, and then convince themselves that they've "btfo" or whatever, because their version of winning an argument is when they say a lot of 4chan words. I used the projection word, take that! BTFO! And then eventually they get mad enough to start letting you know that they totally didn't read it and all that kinda stuff. It's all very circular, something like this happens a dozen times a day.

>>572971795
I would agree with that.
>>
>>572928354
is witcher discussed here?
>>
>>572971831
dude I'm clearly not the genius IQ anon arguing with you, just saying you brought up spelling mistakes out of nowhere and ironically made his point stronger (that you don't understand what is being said and can't communicate)
>>
All anons are the same until proven otherwise
>>
>>572972007
>out of nowhere
He started sperging out about language, here he does it again >>572971935
>No, it was
He knows the position "anyone who disagrees with me is just stupid" makes him look like a clown, so he use "comprehension of the language" interchangeably with "comprehension of the arguments" to deflect.
>>
>>572971939
Very occasionally. Depends on a day and how assmad the anons are about something.
>>
>>572971827
>which is still better than the absolute failure that was Failhard
But, anon, it was a return to form thougheverbeit?
>>
>>572971910
Nope, I legitimately like the game. And while there's a lot that could be done to improve it, it's severely overhated by the anon hivemind.

>>572971939
Might as well. Great series of games that will probably be hated here now because they reached a critical mass of popularity.
>>

>>572971939

>>
>>572972096
That's right, me
>>
>>572971935
>says something very simple, clear, and beyond debate, only for someone like yourself to misunderstand and begin arguing
Your assumption that every disagreement or misunderstanding must come from a misunderstanding of the language, and not the logic, is the part I'm clowning you on about. And here you did it AGAIN
Get a grip. You have no arguments, you just repeat how smart you are over and over, which makes you look retarded.
>>
>>572972129
LMAO. I'm not the anon you're losing a secondary argument with. My position was never "anyone who disagrees with me", that's something you invented because you don't read very well, and you've demonstrated that repeatedly. You won't understand this either because it's written in English, and you aren't very good at that.

And that is the great comedy of 4chan. Some of the lowest IQ, least capable people alive are here, talking to each other in a language they don't really understand.
>>
>>572972136
>>572972209
ah okay that's good to know
i was just looking around this board for any discussion of it and saw the info in the op so i thought i'd ask
>>
>>572972379
>"anyone who disagrees with me"
>that's something you invented because you don't read very well
See? You did it again, instead of refuting me you just argued I simply do not understand you... on the basis that I disagree with you. You could have presented an example of a friendly disagreement, but you didn't, you just stated "oh you disagree? Well its because you can't read!"
Therefore "anyone who disagrees with you" is not my invention, it's the position you keep proving over and over.

See what I mean when I call you a clown? I keep offering you chances to make your point and you dig your grave deeper.

Just met the Kroot companion and even without any voice she seems pretty sexy. Definitely romancebait for the monster enjoyers out there.
Why else write something so emotive and sultry.
>>
>>572972362
>Your assumption that every disagreement or misunderstanding must come from a misunderstanding of the language
That doesn't exist, it's something you're imagining because you don't understand the language. You're very poor at reading, and you like to use your imagination to fill in the blanks, leading to you assigning exaggerated or wholly invented positions to people and then argue with them. When those people inform you that you're doing this, you exclaim "aha, backtracking!" or some such. It's ridiculous.

When I say that anons here don't speak English and can't communicate or be communicated with, I'm talking very specifically about something you're demonstrating repeatedly. I can come here and post X, and because so many of you are so incapable and so stupid, you'll become convinced I said Y and begin arguing with Y. This happens daily.

Yes, because your reply demonstrates a lack of understanding. I'll do you a favor and assume you're pretending to be retarded for attention. "Hey, retard!" - there you go. Do you feel recognized? Now you can say that this was your plan all along, and by calling you retard I fell into your trap, okay? Here we go:
