Gacha is a scourge. Disconnected rambling plot, millions of dollars wasted on shallow characters and temporary events, droll time-wasting gameplay that can only entertain monkeys with intellects two standard deviations below average...Ashamed to admit I had some expectations for Genshin back in 2020. The "visiting different nations" timeline seemed to promise a Trails or Rance-like saga all within one live service game. Sadly the format simply cannot deliver a coherent vision like TADA did with his work on Rance. FOMO and word bloat just suck all soul out of the writing. Most of the game text isn't even worth skimming over, let alone replaying. None of the gacha competitors afterwards have proven any different.

Even during the golden age the eroge market was niche and not very profitable. The guys who were able to make money were those that managed to get their franchise anime adaptations and leverage that into an actual franchise. I can't think of a single live-service game with passable writing. The format just does not lend itself to coherent storytelling, because devs have to constantly balance hardcore players (who complain of content drought) and casuals (who only drop in once a week at most). Thus gacha events must be simultaneously time consuming (to waste the time of neets and whales) while also devoid of meaningful plot progression (to allow casuals to not "miss out"). When combined with bloated casts of characters due to greed, you get the perfect amalgamation of meandering slop. It's like paying to sit through ten seasons of Bleach filler episodes.
