I struggled with seeing the board in 3D vs 2D. The only way to fix it is to play more 3D. Casual chess club is good. You can also set up a board and play an online game, just make the moves on the board and only look at the screen to get the opponent moves. Just don't cheat by moving the pieces to calculate. The longer time controls you play, the better. The more games you play, the better. If you can, 1 OTB tournament per month or so will help a lot. Make sure to analyze them as well, this so very valuable. Don't worry too much about openings. You should spend about 10% of your time on them. Whenever you play online games, just check the first move you make that the engine doesn't like and this will slowly build them up for you. It's really just a matter of how much time you can spend on chess. The more you play, the more you will improve

I think that both praise and degradation on the basis of attractiveness both reinforce an outdated view of women's worth and place in society in general and in chess in particular. I will note that I very rarely see consideration of these women's games in their own right, and most often the discussion regarding them has either solely to do with their physicality or has only to do with the actual chess that they play and their interaction with the chess world insofar as they are attractive chess players and praise of their game can contribute to praise of them in general.
