The game is terrible at explaining it's mechanics to a new player, if you try to grind early enemies you'll find out that you lose more gold on repairs than you get from selling their drops, the very first "quest" that you get is impossible to beat etc. If you manage to overcome the initial hurdle it gets much better and it's a unique type of game that I haven't found a substitute for even among the SFW games.
