The entire thing happens because Alice cannot stand Ilias being the one who solves this and she gets so angry over it the two queens ask her and Ilias if they’re alright instead. As Alice was criticized heavily over this in-universe and Luka reaffirms he didn’t agree with it later, I can’t tell if trtr was trying to make a joke, if he knew it was unfair but did it intentionally anyways or if he genuinely believed this was the best solution for all the murderously stupid dinosaurs trying to forcibly invade and take over the village so they could start genociding everything around them.Regardless any explanation still makes Alice look like an incompetent dickhead for this. It is, perhaps, one of the best examples at how the writing completely falls apart by the third route and how Alice and Ilias (but Alice in particular) regress until close to the end of the game due to constantly fighting each other. Meanwhile after finishing their current project, the other scientists eagerly declare they’ll soon start on the next one, which turns out to be the Nuke.The Pope coup happens during the three month interval, but them staging a coup on the Pope isn’t exactly hidden, and they betray him because they were angry he ceded his authority to the two super monsters and sought peace, and it’s what caused their exclusive focus on weapons to go to their head. Combined with them having been praised for defending against the Mermaids the group is trying to regain their authority by re-creating the scenario on purpose and looking for an excuse to start using the Nukes.I guess for some people the Machina Group wasn’t considered as important or memorable until this point, and thats why it doesn’t always seem like it was foreshadowed for some players. I remembered it, but maybe it’s one of those things that’s easier to forget about in the grand scheme of things.
