I'm working through the synthesis recipes and found I really needed a lot more Dark Matter than I currently have. Nothing drops it, so the best I can do is synthesize more. But the limiting reagent there is Mythril, which is only dropped by Bambi at a 10% chance on the third ring, in the End of the World. The one people have tried for is the Neverland Terminus, but that requires a series of Powerwilds calling in support Bouncywilds to hit the requisite kill counts, and sometimes they just don't do that.

So the alternative solution is to just synthesize more Mythril. That requires a fuckton of Lucid Shards, which are primarily dropped by Shadows. And Shadows are somewhat endangered by the endgame; most regional Emblems proliferate the worlds instead. So I'm trying to grind the rare encounter in Wonderland that has 3 Shadow waves plus one Gigant Shadow wave. It doesn't often spawn and it makes me annoyed.

But the thing I wanted to point out is that when the Gigant Shadows spawn both Donald and Goofy give Sora their support yells, even if I'm not at low HP. I wonder what triggers this, did Nomura think that Donald and Goofy recognized a nightmare when they saw it and wanted to shout their encouragement to Sora?

The reason Yozora says he will save Sora is because he is a worshipper who believes Sora is a god or savior. Let me explain why and how this ties back into Versus XIII and the Nova Crystallis Mythos.


Yozora's shirt has a patch with a skull wearing a crown and crossed keyblades, it even kinda has Sora's hair. In Versus XIII and XV skulls were a common iconography. Obviously this is because Roen, who were part of Noctis' design with that clothing deal uses that motif a lot. Regis wore it even though it was hard to see and was really just in the trailer. And Noctis did too. In Versus it was a common symbol but that kinda got removed in XV. Regardless, in Versus XIII this motif was there because Lucis would have been a country of reaper worship, and more than likely they specifically worshipped Etro.

Etro was a goddess of death, humanity was created from her blood, and she filled their souls with pieces of chaos which gave them individuality and sense of selves. She also regulated the flow of souls and kept the balance between the worlds of the living and the dead from crumbling apart. In Versus people who had near death experiences and saw the gate of the dead gained power from it, even being able to see souls expiring and passing through.

And what else has two crossing keyblades as part of its motif? The X-blade, and has Xehanort explained in BBS, X represents death, it has the meaning of endings.

Yozora's patch has the addition of hair shaped like Sora's and two keys crossing. The two keys crossing are meant to represent the X-blade which I posit Sora still has as we never actually saw it crumble apart or anything. In addition, when Sora uses his "darkness form" in KH4, which will be presumably much more monstrous just like the darkside and shadows in Quadratum this will cause a schism in the believers who will regard Sora as a King of Demons. Thereby also calling back to the stories of keyblade wielders being said to bring ruin and to have saved the world and Nomura saying the theme of KH4 "something akin to the 'contrast between people from different positions'."

People legitimately dont know all the OC stuff is owned by Disney. The only point of contention Ive ever seen for that was Yozora who does not have a Disney copyright in the back of the Verum Rex box just a Square Enix and Tetsuya Nomura one, but i dont think a fucking texture you can barely read means much.

Just a thought I’ve started thinking about recently, if Sora was able to hang onto Kairi’s heart (unknowingly) at the start of the 1st game before shit went sideways on the island and everyone got separated, couldn’t such a thing have occurred with the other princesses who would have a strong bond with others from their world (Belle and Beast) or is that just another Keyblade wielder perk or even protagonist perk?

Completed KH1FM. I got to level 100 over the course of just grinding out materials and completing minigames. Xemnas went down in one try, it was surprising how much I could flail on him and suffer no consequences. Sephiroth is probably the most fun fight in the game, if you know timings you can really beat on him and he can still kick your ass if he catches you at a bad time with Heartless Angel, and he'll retaliate if you try flailing.

One thing I noted is that Ansem introduces Sora to the Abyss after you slay the World of Chaos. I take it that means that the Door to Darkness lies deep within the Abyss, and that the End of the World lies on the surface between the Realm Between and it, linking it to the Realm of Darkness. I'm still not entirely sure what the purpose of the Final Keyhole in Hollow Bastion is, Ansem manipulates Maleficent and the Disney villains to gather the Seven Princesses to open the Keyhole, and the game explains that after Kairi, Donald, and Goofy retreated Ansem was swallowed by the overflowing darkness and wound up at the End of the World.

I take it the Final Keyhole is just Hollow Bastion's heart, heavily modified and experimented on by Xehanort and the other apprentices in their search for the secrets of the heart and darkness, all to act as a generator for darkness. Phantom, Kurt Zisa, and Behemoth all emerged from that Keyhole. But then why were the Princesses needed to complete the Keyhole (it could still produce darkness even without Kairi's heart, but Ansem still wanted it to be completed), especially if it holds no relation to the End of the World or the Door to Darkness?

Oh wait, I understand now. Ansem wanted to consume the darkness he was growing within Hollow Bastion's heart to boost his own strength to be able to open the Door to Darkness. So the purpose of conquering worlds was to build the Door to Darkness (and by proxy the End of the World), and the purpose of gathering the Seven Princesses (aside from subconscious memories of Xehanort's plan) was to complete the Final Keyhole so he could power up.

The Traverse Town Race (or one of them) was restored in KH1. I’m a bit dubious as to whether or not everything was already in there and it just got reactivated, or if this was somewhat custom made. Could be a combination, I dunno. Apparently there was a beta build posted that made it easier for this to be accessed, so maybe it is the former and I’m just being dubious for no reason.

The difference is that kairi was on the islands as they fell. Whereas the others were kidnapped before their worlds fell

It's a combination of Sora's heart easily connecting to others and Kairi getting buttblasted by darkness when Destiny Islands' heart was devoured. She can't fall to darkness, so her heart, displaced by darkness, found another vessel to reside in instead. And like the other anons said, the other princesses were kidnapped, not thermal shocked by the Heartless.

Well the difference is one is a comic and one is a live action movie, you know, like pirates. They mostly follow the source material. If it's a comic they'll try to do that, if it's a live action movie they'll make it realistic. Even the two iterations of tron had different aesthetics.

What kind of driver do you think the characters are? For me I think of them as

Anyone else conflicted on FF in KH and KH4? Like I never grew up with FF so the characters didn't really mean much to me, they were basically OCS, especially after going and actually playing the games. But just unceremoniously getting written is pretty awkward. I couldn't really care much for Sephiroth not being in but having the absence of a cool boss is the real downside. I kinda want Jack Garland to be an optional boss in KH4 which is a little hypocritical but on the other hand i'm not actually expecting KH4 to have any FF stuff. Square Enix cameos in general seem to be more non-character stuff. Tangent but Schwarzgeist not getting serious appreciation in KH3 was bleak as hell, guess people don't know Einhander.

Yeah and I had a similar experience to you. I really enjoyed them as cameos that filled out the world and acted as a passing of the torch in a way to Sora and his friends. But I feel like I do about Disney worlds. Their world's story is over I don't need to see them anymore. They dont really mean much besides fan service cameos.

I have FF7 fatigue. KH1 has mostly FF7 cameos and removing Parasite Eve sucked. When KH2 happened we got the compilation of FF7 games and I hated everything about those games and movies. So now KH changed all the characters to remind me of a movie I didnt like. And then we got a decade of FF7 remakes concurrent with KH that potentially made KH and new games take longer to make. So I don't care about any of those in KH anymore at all.

After KH2 BBS only had 1 FF OC character which was Zack from FF7. I dont think days or recoded had anything but I only watched the compilation videos. And DDD had nothing. So by KH3 I barely noticed they didn't carry on this tradition. And then they added Leon's FF7 crew (because god forbid we dont have FF7) to the DLC anyways

But then we got the secret ending. And this is what makes me so fucking mad about it all. Its all clearly taking ideas from Versus XIII. Shot for shot remakes of scends. Somnus (lyrics written by Nomura btw.) Noctis is Yozora. Very not subtle commentary. BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT FOR SOME REASON?! It's literally the inverse of all those FF cameos before it. Now instead of being a FF character that is just fan service it is now an OC based on a (unrealized) FF character whose story world and plot is one of the most important mysteries going forward

And that's not even getting into how Final Fantasy is baked into the DNA of KH because Sakaguchi told Nomura to write it likr Final Fantasy. Nomura based Sora on a columnation of all his protags and Riku as FF character. How Axel was based on Reno and Org13 are based on job classes. The magic systems. All the countless gummy ship bullshit cameos and the big cactaur and moogles and chocobo zippers. No one gives a shit about the moogles. Its basically a FF spinoff.
