I'm enjoying writing up my review of Rance Quest. Not sure why but it's much easier to write than I normally find this.I still don't understand Crook's character. She's not listless. She's relaxed because being relaxed stops you from going to Hell.

It is too easy to poison a boss and tank until it dies even if you are way below what level you should be. For the same reason, Crane ruins everything that isn't a boss fight because you can Escape the majority of encounters no matter what your level. Magnum does a little bit to solve the poison problem, but Chaos is so incredible that all that most Magnum boss fights require is Rance being alive.

Nothing in my notes or screenshots suggests that I was exploiting Crane at that point int he game. For a very long time, my only Rangers were Suzume and Crane.

I feel most RPGs in general have some cheese strats that invalidate tough encounters. I think part of the appeal in the genre is having the freedom to choose what kind of difficulty or “fairness” you want your playthrough to have.

I would understand if the goal was to make games hardcore, but it's not like you would accomplish it with just that, you would have to rebalance the whole game, the only thing that you would accomplish by deleting cheese in an easy game is make the game worse for the people that like cheese.

How did Sill manage to rescue Rance when he was tied up by Lia and Maris at the end of 01? Wasn't Kanami supposed to knock her out first before bringing her to the castle?
