Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.>Q: Can I recruit Minthara without going down the evil path?>A: If you knock her out in Act 1, yes. You do miss out on the sex scene, but otherwise the romance remains the same.>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?>A: No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.>Polls:>Romance: https://strawpoll.com/NMnQ5kJXYn6>Race: https://strawpoll.com/kjn18WPzeyQ>Class: https://strawpoll.com/eNg69DKKjnA>Companions: https://strawpoll.com/bVg8o8l3VnYOP pasta: https://rentry.org/bggpastaPrevious thread: >>573489385

I personally disagree but honestly they're kinda right if you played bg3 because you're a huge dnd fan, theere will never be a dnd rpg as complex & dense & well designed as bg3, honestly if you grew up playing dnd bg3 might be a 15/10 game like that's probably the dream game of thousands of boomers out there this is why i feel like licensed CRPGs are such an untapped market, do you have any idea how much money a game of thrones crpg would make? or just make another isometric fallout shit that would make banks, larian lowkey needs a division solely tasked to make licensed games that'd be swaggy
I'm 30 hours in and I still haven't reached Baldur's Gate, why so much padding in this first part? Feels like FF7 Remake all over again.
>>573840551just enjoy the ride you won't see baldur's gate in the next 50 hours if you're doing most side quests of act 1 & 2
>>573840202Stop posting worthless off-topic garbage in the Baldur's Gate general.
>>573840770tick tock bitch
>>573840551Act 1 got the lion's share of the development time. For me, in a typical playthrough it's>20 hours in Act 1>6 hours in Act 2>10 hours in Act 3And in general it's worth doing all the extra content in Act 1 because there are so many items that are crucial to OP Act 2/3 builds (Luminous Armor, Phalar Aluve, Spellsparkler, Gloves of Dexterity, Blood of Lathander). But remember that practically everything in this game is optional. You can unironically beat the entire game in about 45 minutes if you want to.
>>573840945>45 minutesHuh? How? No spoilers please.
>>573841118you can skip most of act 1 by going trough the mountain roads near the goblin camp, you can speedrun act 2 by rushing to the shar temple and making gale cast the door unlocking spell to not both with all the puzzles, act 3 is pretty simple, just cast fly to reach the lower city, go kill 2 important characters and during the final fight you turn invisible to skip a 20 minutes long fight
How do erase my memories like Shadowheart to experience the game for the first time again?
>>573841118There are very few mandatory fights in this game. Act 1 can be completed by simply traveling to the Mountain Pass (which can be done without fighting if you pass a dialogue check), and then from there to the Shadow-Cursed Lands (again, without fighting if you just dodge some traps). Act 2 has one mandatory "dungeon" (which can essentially be skipped with the knock spell), and then there are two fights to get to Act 3. Then in Act 3 there's only one mandatory fight. The entire "final battle" can be skipped by just using stealth and having a specific character in your party. This is also why Honour Mode runs are actually not that hard if you're willing to play like a coward. I cheesed my way to the achievement pretty easily and spent a grand total of like ~2 hours in Act 3 because you can skip practically everything.

do yall think that bg3 would have been a success without literally hours of romance content? I remember during the EA that only 3% of players didnt initiate a romance, I feel like it would have still sold very well but wouldn't have such a lasting presence in the rpgsphere, we literally had a romance update in february LOL

>>573843704oh I know that it's my favorite fallout too and you obviously don't need romances to make a good rpg but if you wanna have BG3 tier sales you gotta tickle some balls even elden ring got a few romances

I remember talking about bg3's fanservice and the way sex is depicted and I now remember raphael literally stripping astarion in act 2 and while telling him that he's used to being naked in front of strangers or something along these lines, I'd say that's the kind of good fanservice? yes you see his butt but it still serves as way to establish that raphael is a dickhead and a literal sex offender and that astarion seeks autonomy + it's very funny not gonna lie, we needed more scenes like these and less cringe moments involving halsin

>>573848754What's bizarre is that even Karlach has a truly evil dialogue exchange in Act 2. The Moonrise Towers vendor offers her soul coins (which are objectively evil objects) and tells you about the tragic story behind the innocent people trapped within them. And if you refuse to take the coins, Karlach *disapproves*. There was an opportunity for a truly interesting piece of character development, where Karlach is upset about being a slave to Zariel but thinks nothing of using the trapped souls of other devil victims to give herself a +d4 fire damage boost while raging. On a moral level, it's not too different from Gortash selling her out to the hells for a deal (implied to be the one that allowed him to steal the Crown of Karsus but never explicitly stated). But the game sort of drops it and it's never brought up again.

Why does "Condition: Recast Speak with Dead. Can recast Speak with Dead without expending a spell slot." exist? You already can cast Speak with Dead as many times as you like because it is a Ritual spell so it doesn't cost spell slots. Mistranslated mechanic from DND?
I just wanted to say that I love my wife.
>>573851690>On a moral level, it's not too different from Gortash selling her out to the hells for a dealThat's a stretch. Gortash selling her out was genuinely evil. Karlach's willingness to use soul coins is arguably defensible, insofar as the game offers no method of saving the souls, feasible or otherwise, nor does it linger on the consequences. So you could argue that Karlach is a bit hypocritical, and this is genuine tension within her character, but you could also argue she's only acting within the limits of her knowledge - which is that the souls are already lost. There is no doubt that Karlach is a good person, but being good doesn't mean you can't be flawed or have the occasional moral lapse.>>573854261Name three things you like about her that are non-physical.
>>573854332It’s one of the most evil things you can do in the setting, and your “wife” is a bland bitch.

>>573855984
>>573854467>It’s one of the most evil things you can do in the setting,Karlach doesn't know that. Even good people can commit harmful actions based on ignorance or under duress. Note that I did not use the term "evil" because that would require awareness and intent in most moral frameworks. Many would argue that Shar is one of the most evil goddesses in the setting. Does that make Shadowheart unquestionably evil for serving her for decades? The Shadowheart who feels bad if you massacre the tiefling refugees and has to get drunk to numb her guilt? The Shadowheart who has a soft spot for children? Don't be so quick to condemn characters based on knowledge that only you are privy to.>>573855056She is not my wife. 35 hours in, just reached Rosymorn Monastery. Am I close to the end of Arc 1? No spoilers please.
>>573862271Yes.
>>573862271you got around 3 or 4 hours of gameplay left before you react act 2
>>573862271Both the Monastery and the Grymforge are considered Act 1.5 areas as they're technically part of Act 1 while not located on it's Wilderness map, plus they're also serving as transition points for 2. That's why the game gives you a pop-up upon entering the Mountain Pass for the time: it's one of the very few instances where the in-game time will be forwarded and certain time-sensitive content won't be available anymore. You can experience both areas during the same playthrough to make sure you won't "miss out" on XP and unique items. Just visit and complete one of them first, do NOT transition to Act2, then travel to the other and exhaust that one too. Afterwards you can enter Act 2 - the transition point at the Monastery is a road while in the Grymforge it's an elevator. Both leads to the same Act 2 map but you appear at different points of it. I personally recommend the Grymforge for "good" playthroughs.

Canon romances>Shadowheart + Laezel>Gale + Minthara>Jaheira + Durge>Minsc + Boo>Astarion + Karlach (Astarion likes spicy snacks)The other two don't get romances. Wyll gets killed by a goblin after trying to showboat and aura-farm. The bear gets killed by goblin children in a cage. Thank you for reading my blogpost. Have a nice day.
Divinity is probably still a long ways off, they didn't even have gameplay footage ready to show at TGA. It will probably be released in 2028 at the very least.

>>573866763>>573873249/bgg/ - Baldur's Gate General is a general for all things Baldur's Gate, not all things Larian. But you knew this already.
