If you couldn't already figure out the Mahoyo movie is going to fucked then you were kind of dumb. If they tried to adapt it truly faithfully it'd have to be like, one entire movie of pure SoL segments, a second movie that starts with some more then moves into Kitsy land, a third movie with all the lore dumps and the cast getting to know each other, than you can maybe get the last stretch into one last movie.

These things unfortunately have to make money so it was always obvious the first movie was going to speedrun everything to cover Kitsy land (one of two action setpieces in the entire VN), probably have a second movie with more SoL and some original fight, and then the third movie adapting the rest (sped up as well).

Look at Jujutsu S3 episode 3. I'll be the first in line to shit on JJK but that episode had 20x the info of Ilya's info dump here and was far more engaging. How did they do it? With lots of close ups of faces. Facial expressions. And visuals that tie in to what is currently being exposited. This is something newbie manga editors learn - viewers like LOOKING AT FACES. Of the characters they enjoy. The viewers didn't buy a movie ticket to look at nature and Japanese architecture stills.
Somehow they thought "muh kinographic filmography shots" was a good idea.

Finished the VN and went to watch the Heaven's feel movies and the first one was god awful.

Not only are the relationship/character-building scenes mostly cut out, the ones that aren't aren't animated with any emotion. Ufotable uses pretty VFX, detailed backgrounds, and shots with no close up faces in them as crutches. Their fights are great of course, but besides that you barely see any facial expressions, just zoomed-out "kino" shots and when you do have a close-up the facial expression feelings blank and expressionless. There are around 3 faces are decent facial expressions in the 2 hours, tops. Picrel feels so soulless even though it's a somewhat emotional moment. They also spoiled something that happens a bit later at the 1:50:00 mark. Sotozaki iirc also directed the Wind Pillar flashback episode in Kimetsu which was less impressive than it should have been, I remember all the camerawork that distracted from the character emotions, like the loud zoomed in chopping of the vegetables and trying to make a "physical impact" rather than an emotional impact. Oh also the sakura 1.5 year speedrun at the start is decent for what it is but when you look at how much "information" it conveys it's about as meaningful as a gacha character profile page. They could have put way more in there. Instead every scene is just slow and shallow.

As a new player you don't have the luxury to be farming specific mats during dead weeks, because you have way too much content available between main story, interludes, free quests clears, strengthenings, etc. Just keep playing events and try to buy out the entire shop if you can, that will build up a stack of mats to ascend your servants.
Also clearing the story should give out some strengthening mats, as well as white cubes for you to trade.

Nasu was intimately involved in UBW and there was an interview stating he was very happy with the whole thing.

At first Nasu wanted to rewrite HF, but then Sudou told him to stop since the original HF was already fine

They're pretty valuable but it depends on a lot of things. For now save your green cubes, focus on buying the monthly gacha tickets and embers with them. You WILL want to buy the Bond CE's from the store much much much later and only when you have 5,000 Green Cubes handy to buy 5 and MLB them at once.
The white cubs are a bit more iffy, they're honestly SUPER valuable and super fucking helpful, and once they stop being common you really feel it and it can really sting. BUT as a new player you are going to be getting an insane amount of them. I think you can use those a bit more willy nilly without worrying too much, maybe practice a bit of mindfulness for the resources that cost 3 cum cubes a piece, and like I said don't just level the skills of every single servant you come across. But like say you have an SSR you like and you need to spend 30 cum cubes to level their skill, for example I would never spend those 30 cubes because they're too precious for me and I can farm them. But in your case it's probably safe and better to spend those cubes there.

Don't buy any of the cope openers (you won't need them for awhile and events always have them) or code removers (literal useless shit). The Beast's Footprint are a bit more iffy since they are useful and far more rare, but once again they're something you won't need for a long time, basically only exist to drain QP from veterans, and really only have small benefits.
Also, if you want to get a bit ahead of the curve, always buy Lanterns of Chaldea with your yellow cubes every month and any time they're available. Very long story short (especially since, if you're noticing, like many thing you wont need to deal with this for a long while) they are an extremely precious resource and are basically the only way to "farm" lots of SQ end game. There's other stuff in the yellow prism shop that is nice (some okay mystic codes, some quests that give tickets) but those lanterns are your first priority.

Honestly I always buy XP cards when they're up, but only the 5* ones. There's maybe an argument to be made that they're not super useful for you as a newbie since you don't have many servants but there's basically never a point where you'll think "oh man I have enough embers for the forseeable future!" unless you've been playing for a long time.

I was in your exact position a year ago so I know exactly how you feel. Fortunately you'll slowly realize it really isn't that confusing, but it 100% is right now since you're coming into a game that is a decade old (in Japan) with a decade's worth of content and bullshit meant to pad out content and give day 1 players shit to do. I guess another simple piece of advice is until you feel like you have a good grasp, definitely ask in this thread before you make any decisions you're worried could set you back or something. Outside of burning servants there really aren't any ways to totally brick your account. Honestly, the monthly tickets are probably the only thing that would be semi-brick tier if you were forgetting them for multiple months.
