Ian Flynn writing Archie Sonic wasn't aiming for airtight logic. He was aiming for an entertaining fast paced comic. The internal logic vent sometimes sure and it's looser in some things than Japan Sonic, but I'd argue that it's really fun to read if you turn off your brain.Archie had themes also. But it was kind of imperfect always. Penders might have been better at profound themes than Ian even if not Sonic style themes, but he didn't have a lot of other things going for his stories.
