My favorite part of the sudden kuroshi anime revival is that it is like 98% a frame-for-frame remake of the manga. My theory is that little baby yana didn't have enough influence or bargaining power in her early days of kuro to insist on where season 1 or 2 anime would go. Maybe she was forced to compromise, maybe she didn't have the authority to make them suit her schedule and couldn't suit their schedule and had to give up creative control or lose out on an anime adaptation at all, maybe a ton of things. Whatever it was ended in a dumpster fire that somehow didn't kill the series. And now it's back, it's been 20 years, Yana has established herself as one of the strongest creative forces of her generation of mangaka. And the new anime just happens to be almost a perfect reproduction of her work? A couple of years ago there was an incident of a mangaka who took her own life because the live action adaptation diverged a lot from her work or something, I don't know the specifics of it but I did see it caused a ripple throughout the industry and other creators were even dragged into it, including Yana with crazy people accusing her of not caring about her work if she let the industry change so much of Kuro when they adapted it. I've always wondered if that affected anything.

Yeah I remember the essay she sent out on Twitter when that happened, talking about how people have accused her of not caring about Kuro because of stuff like the anime and the live action movies. She's a professional so she is never, ever going to be candid about what she actually thinks. She said "I have never been dissatisfied with an adaptation of kuroshitsuji" and that she is grateful to the actors/producers/etc. of everything, but of course she did. She doesn't have a choice. Condemning the people who acted in or in any way contributed to an adaptation is a great way to be blacklisted in the industry, especially with how much influence yana has with her "passionate" aka batshit insane fanbase. If she were ever to even hint that "Yeah, I didn't like what they did there" she would lose huge amounts of cred to her fans for disrespecting the people who made the adaptation and within the industry for indirectly telling her fanbase she disapproves of something that someone else put out, which absolutely would crush it. Anyway so no, we're never going to actually know yana's true feelings on the bajillion kuroshi adaptations, and that's fine because it's none of our business anyway. But I do think you're right. I think the fact that they dropped the studio for the first anime and they are strictly adhering to manga content with the new series is pretty telling that, if Yana could have had her way with some of these adaptations, they would have gone very differently, or maybe not even have happened at all rather than weaken and damage the brand. People complain "oh no they are going to change Yuu in season 2 of the anime! That will be so confusing for new fans!!" as if something being unexplained or confusing in an anime is a death sentence. But after what Yana has been through with her shit, I think she knows damn well that the anime will be fine. People will get over it. They did with Kuroshi, and they will again with Twst.

It is a legit miracle that it's still gaining new fans. If I knew nothing about the series and started from season 1 I never wouldve touched it again. So glad I started from the manga, it's the only way. Kinda like how I feel bad for anyone who started Twst from anything but the game.

Not really, a lot of mangaka have expressed dissatisfactiom with adaptations of their work and still gone on to have their work revisited for further adaptation. Fruits Basket is the biggest example of this, Takaya absolutely hated the original adaptation and publicly swore off of ever having her work adapted again because of how much it upset her, yet in recent years received a faithful, full-length readaptation. It's not an uncommon phenomenon, and it's not something authors get bashed for if they're within reason with their dissatisfaction. Your work is your baby and fans tend to side with an author when adaptations ruin the original work.

I watched the new anime; the remake is great and a good adaptation, only has two problems: the third season should have had more episodes, and while the flashbacks of Tohru's parents were adapted into a movie, they cut some chapters about Yuki and the student council. But it was a great anime and worth watching.

Like, Vil's hometown event was always going to be heavily hollywood/movie themed event if he since acting is like his whole shtick and he comes from a showbiz family + it was kinda obvious from the way the mouse was going that a snow white live action would be coming at some point down the line. Would not be surprised if they always meant for it to be a promo, since Vil is also one of the few boys who actually can (everyone else apart from Azul already had their remakes aired)

Also gotta say that tapis rouge is far from the worst event because the rest of the peanut gallery bounced off each other so well. It's definitely better than Jamil's snoozefest of an event which was only salvaged by me being a lizardfag.

Not an enstarsfag but even hoyo has their manga, no? Tkrb has a lot of anthologies, a manga for their stage plays etc. These are really common. Referring to above mentioned tkrb, some mobages out there even have stage plays/musicals and I mention this because I'm surprised twst doesn't have one yet considering they have a bunch of stage actors as vas. But speaking of bonus content newfags probably don't know this but twst once had a 3d event in some weird jp social mmo thing where we could run around some of the locations in NRC on halloween and even had a live viewing room in it for the livestream iirc. I think they also do stageplays.
Then they also have an anime (which likentwst was in development hell for ages kek), several 3d animated series which adapt its more popular story arcs, a anime movie which didn't manage to include any of my faves, and various novels. Off the top of my head I can't remember if they did a proper manga, but they definitely have a long running online gag 4koma.

Before bonbon we all wondered how they were gonna top the loungewear, but they did it. The only real miss they've had is platinum and that was 100% the mouse's fault. As long as disneymain keeps their dirty fucking hands away from Yana whatever it is should be at least as good as the loungewear series.

Hard disagree, I'd argue any set that has a super boring outfit for the entire thing is an absolute miss. So platinum jacket, birthday jacket and pie jacket.

Broom escapes by the skin of its teeth having it's recycled uniform being super pretty and the flowers allowing the card backgrounds to look gorgeous.

Birthday jackets were the very first set so I'll cut it some slack plus the pins were cute, the pie jackets I enjoyed seeing the custom made patches on the jackets by an actual streetwear designer. Bloom was boring for me because it looked like just fancier ceremonial robes but saved by the personalized bouquets everyone was trying to decipher each hanakotoba of. I still want a proper explanation from Yana about those too. Platinum jackets was eh made worse by the fact they released that Disney illustration first and so we knew how all of them were gonna look like.

The birthday jackets get a pass from me for being so shamelessly unserious. They got "birthday boy" written on them. I loved the pie jackets, a little sad that they weren't personalized re: Leona having his unbuttoned and that kind of thing, but that is the "check out these snatched waists" series and I love it for that.
Bloom I didn't like because I don't care about flower language but I understand taking the opportunity to show us graduation gown designs and I gotta respect the sheer amount of effort that went into the bouquets. The radio show said that they hired people to make the bouquets physically first then hired an additional flower artist to draw the real-life bouquets, that were then incorporated into the game. Gotta respectthat.
Platinum was shit but that is mostly me being angry at the godawful "official Disney artist" design graphic that took off Vil's and everyone's makeup and turned them into blobby people with no personality.
