It should just be a secondary objective that takes just as long as the generators, but allows for pressure to be distributed across two formats. Friday the 13th had this with calling the cops as the easiest one, but longest to hold out for and the car as a faster but harder to set up one.

You could repair the car, but the guy with the gas got killed in the woods so you're fucked. You're not shit out of luck for escape entirely since there's other options, but you have to distribute that pressure and that came at the cost of safety in numbers. I don't know what Dead by Daylight could do exactly, but a high risk / high reward alternative could work well. Killers could easily disable it permanently letting survivors go back to generators, but if you could stall him long enough or they weren't trying to stop you, then you could get out faster.
