In chapter 5 it's suggested Kris liked getting shoved into the locker by Susie (sigh...), so maybe there's something here. The knight has no qualms chucking sword bullets at Kris. When Susie and Ralsei get downed in the knight fight, Kris starts outputting significantly more damage, as if Kris is finally getting a moment to not hold back, at least with the weapon they've currently equipped. Some people headcanon Dess gave Kris the knife, although a reasonable objection to that is "why would Dess give a knife to the gremlin who harassed her sister?"
