So, I was thinking about how AI handled RPGs aren't that great (for now) because it's all mostly just narration and then the LLM has to infer as to what's really going on, what are the capabilities of the creatures (both friendly and enemy ones), how much of a threat they are or whether it's even 'fair' for the player/party to face them, unless you just want to keep the godly player plot armor (which completely kills it for me, so fuck you, we're not keeping that), and obviously you could just create expansive lorebooks with creatures and 'stats' (whether actual numbered stats or simply using 'has the strength of ten men' or 'can run faster than a horse' or something, which works ok for physical attributes but magical? how is the AI supposed to understand what you mean when you talk about magic potential?)

And I'm assuming(?) that the only way for it to move forward and get better on that front (at least unless we figure out a way to have infinitely sized lorebooks with no or barely any negatives, maybe in a few years) would be to somehow create a ruleset that the AI could base everything off of (strength of one man = can push X kg, stamina of one man = can run for X km/miles, etc) and then figure out how to tell the AI to infer as to the stats of those monsters based on their size, their 'origin' too (is it early game? or maybe the creature's meant to be a boss and it comes from the mountains far away which is an anomaly, yadda yadda)
And then the magic could be tied to an understandable energy value (joules? watts? newtons?) and you'd have to add rules tied to those values, say a simple fireball that's lethal to a human would be X joules of power, 'this character's mana can create magic using X joules of power' then could tell the AI 'okay it can create a fireball that's big enough to kill 3 humans'

Has this ever been attempted? Or maybe the state LLMs are in right now might be a bit too early still to go full autismo about these things?

I don't know what marinara is capable of/trying to achieve, I briefly looked at it and some ideas were kinda neat (the social media app for example), but if you say it's trying to do this already then I definitely need to try it out more.

I'm also thinking you could (or even should) create a new conversation as soon as one such encounter would start, which would also switch to those specific rulesets to limit on context usage for the whole story (and also allow for more context heavy engagements, with reasoning turned on for those for example) while at the same time limiting hallucinations due to trying to start a big fight with potentially a lot of moving pieces when your story is already gone through a lot of context (and maybe you could have a 'base' ruleset that's on even during adventure mode, and then it switches to an advanced ruleset when a fight occurs)

I'm really just thinking out loud desu and trying to figure it out as I go

You could get what you want with a mix of Marinara and clever use of the lorebook feature which I'd personally use to define the realism of the setting. Marinara also has the ability to track inventories, gear, its stats, etc so that you can help the LLM make logical designs about those limitations and if a pillar would crush x or y. There's a lot of places to implant the logic of your setting, really. Being unable to die might be a problem with pussified corpo models too in which case you can just use language like 'knocked out' or 'retired' in the instructions. Idk. I'd personally check out marinara and really grasp the features because its built for hybrid rp gaming with strict tracking on rules like you seem to want.
