I know a lot of people are dooming about Battle Passes for Classic, and while I think that's a reasonable assumption based on recent patterns, I've been thinking a lot about something that would constantly impact players and technically be within the standards of Classic: SP and AP ResetGenerally speaking they're changing a lot of skills and how stats work right now, with the ideal situation being getting that shit working in a pleasant and functional way by launch. The original game had some problems with this, and part of what Big Bang did was fix it as well, but it seems like they weren't satisfied with either solution (good) and have been trying to make every stat worthwhile to some extent which is where the problems have come in. While I could whinge about defense, I think the more notable thing to complain about is accuracy. If they don't resolve the current problems with accuracy by launch, Dex will become something you'll want to put points into, perchance well into the game. And if they change that later, that's an AP Reset problem. On the lower end of AP Reset problems would be changing weapon requirements, but given they overall trend of requiring more secondary stats I doubt they'll do anything dramatically important with this, even Maple weapons will probably require something so if you happen to be at the stage of the game where that's a viable weapon you should be fine. Overall AP Reset's intended use is to let whales minmax after they get some insanely well scrolled equipment, and barring any complete fuckups they're on track to keep it in that range. I can't say the same for their design intentions with skill changes in relation to SP Resets, which is the real problem I'll get into in the next post.

What comes after is way more important. The fact that we don't know what 3rd+ job skills they'll be changing and how they'll be changing them matters, because the problem actually starts right before that because while we can intuit what skills would need a certain amount of investment, we don't know the quality of those skills. You can assume the good ones will still be good, but what if some of the bad ones become better than the mediocre ones? And this isn't even getting into how many changes the first two jobs underwent, if any of that is pushed to live and then changed later that's a huge SP Reset problem. And given how they want to keep progressing the game well after whatever content they decide to end at (let's say Pink Bean), skill changes of a dramatic variety feel inevitable. While any warrior mains might say it doesn't effect them because none of their skills are good so they have surplus SP, the last test had job specific SP rather than job agnostic SP like actual OSMS and I feel like that's probably not something that will change any time soon. While I'm probably just freaking out about hypotheticals and I'm pretty sure the Classic team would be willing to give out a single SP Reset every time they dramatically rebalance a skill, it must be pretty tempting for Nexon to monetize balance like that and would be completely unnoticeable to anyone but the most schizo. Maybe I'm entirely and the next test will give me reasons to believe they're thinking about this sort of thing, and Leaf Points are there to make a different currency that doesn't incentivize playing the Meso Market which in turn means they'll be more willing to give them out in events.

You don't need a chart to tell you stat equivalences. (bd + dmg + 100)/100 determines boss damage's total contribution to your fd while stat can be relatively isolated by looking at (ideally) two equips with only a str difference and isolating the damage range change and converting that to estimated fd per str value

Not only do I have a hard time thinking up other MMOs that have both generic players that aren't one-of-a-kind (Explorers, Resistance, Cygnus Knights besides Mihile) like most and set story character players (Heroes, Demon, Nova, etc) like Elsword or Hero Shooters but are the set characters outnumbering generics now or close? Generics are about 25. (Explorer 3 paths each for 5 jobs -> 3 x 5 = 15, plus Resistance and Cygnus 5 each) Non-generics include Heroes + Demon's two for 8, Nova's 4, Flora's 4, Amina's 3, Zero and Kinesis for 2, then the regional exclusives like Sengoku that make it close if not more than 25. Will this game ever add more generics?
