The ACTUAL truth about mage bot was demonstrated well by Deadlock. A 1v1 matchup is just too unwinnable for too many characters. They changed the entire game to be 2v2 in all lanes, changing the entire map, just to ensure everyone was in a 2v2. Why? Because the meta became switching everyone around constantly until they got into a matchup for a few waves that they literally could not lose. League ran into the same problem with infinite role swapping, teams just played lanes they literally could not lose. Swap into swap into predicted swap into double pump fake swap, the game just became making sure your lanes got the lane they could not lose. Riot understood how fundamental a problem this was, so they literally added a mechanic never seen in the game for 15 years to force you to play in your lane. It still isn't working on support. Mage botlanes are an in-role role swap. It's just a way to cheat the system. These champs were never designed to have a pyke or camille support making Mel E's undodgeable, they're supposed to be flippy 40/60 abilities that get thrown out and mostly miss, costing mana and waveclear. Missing abilities like this are supposed to get you blown up by an Orianna or full combo'd by an Akali, but instead you throw them out for free in a lane where an engage support can just "hit" your other abilities for you anyway. The real reason every Rioter says "uuuh.... it's actually really cool that mages go bot!" is because they know this has been a nuclear bomb hiding under the balance for a long time. No mage can go mid if their stats and abilities are not absolutely disgusting, because they have to play 1v1 into champs like sylas, akali, irelia, etc. Now they play 1v1 vs Jhin, Ezreal, Kai'sa. It's a retirement home.

I really do hope they also implement some kind of feature, which allows players to make a vote on giving smite duty to another player. For example, if your jungler is just constantly dying before and during objectives, and is practically just griefing, this system would make it so that players have a better chance of securing objectives, which-in-turn would give better chance of winning. The jungler who has had smite priveliges revoked for the game should be able to pick ONE SS from a certain amount of SSs that would replace smite. Which ones? Hm, I think ignite, ghost and heal would be decent, but I'd have to give it more thought. This kind of system should only be implemented in ranked, as obviously stacks of people could abuse this, and grief their junglers in norms. Also, in ranked for duos, the system would be contingent upon which of the duo's has more gold for the vote. Surely there is more ideas that could be added to make the game healthier. Text limit hit
