Yuri's suicide is not a natural progression of her character, Natsuki just disappears, and Monika isn't even really killed, then acts like she's saving the player from something when Sayori becomes aware.It doesn't really make any narrative sense. DDLC has the basis for a good horror story, but got derailed by the thing it's famous for.

I have another idea to make DDLC darker while leading in to the connections with Portrait of Markov and Project Libitina.The Dokis are not AI but people trapped in a VR stasis, hooked up to machines somewhere in the real world, unaware of their predicament until your appearance upsets the fragile balance of their mental state. (You) as a character are someone trying to liberate their physical counterparts from machines in a human experimentation camp. Your character has to enter their world to wake them up because they can't just be disconnected, but the system is designed to make you forget. When you enter you're assigned as Sayori's childhood friend.Monika gains awareness and is trying to snap you out of it while you must keep them all from going insane and killing themselves because if they die in the game they die in real life, or there is a limit to how many times you can reload the 'game' and restore their psyche if you fail.The equivalent scene to Act 4 is Sayori's consciousness manages to be restored after her suicide, but it's damaged and she wants to trap you in the game with her.
