Death Generals & Hunters reflect how little the staff cared, having already had their original plans for the show altered significantly.I'm going off my recollections from 14/15 years ago when it aired, but from what I remember and looking back at the episode list:Kiriha and Nene join Taiki and become "Xros Heart United" in episode 31. From episode 31 to 49 you get the same 2/3 episode arcs as the first part of Xros, but instead of "Zones" they are "Lands" with the Seven Death Generals being involved. Episode 35 sees Mervamon debut and she effectively replaces Sparrowmon as Nene's main Digimon purely for fanservice reasons. Nene also gets reduced to pining for her younger brother Yuu, who is the main antagonist of the Death Generals arc, and does very little outside of that. Olegmon's "Land" is the only bit of Death Generals I that remember enjoying in full. Kiriha's development episode (43) is one of the worst I can remember in Digimon, although Taiki's is also terrible for being an absolute nothing. Given Hunters' existence, it's no surprise that the way Xros's original run concludes makes you realise the show isn't actually finished.
