I think late preboot had incredible comic art. I haven't seen much comics but compared to mid 2000s flash comics, and other licensed comics, and tmnts, the art and coloring and everything was pretty incredible. Matt Herms and Ben Bates art went hard.

I'll try saying something good about every iterationI like following along the OC stories for Archie. It is so melodramatic and rugged. It's a completely different beast from the video games and for me that's part of the appeal.I like SatAM's gloomy atmosphere. It's a tad superficial, the actual tone of the show is incredibly upbeat. Especially when you compare it to things like the Zombot Virus or Sonic Frontiers. I still love the asesthetic. I think it's interesting to see how unregulated the franchise used to be. Sonic swims.AOSTH and Underground having actual continuity was not something I expected. Characters introduced in later episodes recall previous episodes all the time. I can't say I find AOSTH very funny but I enjoy it for the exact same reason as satam. It also has many more characters but you rarely ever see them brought up.I like that fleetway actually has a format where Sonic goes from place to place and inadvertently improves it through his actions. It's completely coincidental. This is easily one of the most inaccurate takes on the Sonic world so it has it's own feel. It almost feels out of place when the last few issues of the comic are an adaptation of Sonic Adventure. I really like the weird background characters. Sonic X is the best show. It's the one that feels the most like Sonic. It might be the best Shadow in any adaptation.Sonic Boom is an interesting look into the state of the series at the time. The fact that this show was allowed to exist is telling. I actually think Boom Shadow is a hilarious character and I wish he got more than four appearances. IDW is a bit of an artifact now. The comic is clearly tailored to the status of the franchise when Sonic Forces came out. I like the art as well as some of the new characters. Whenever things are particularly off, like Silver, it's a tell on how strict or relaxed Sega is about certain things.Sonic Prime is adorable. A weird action series aimed at babies. 1/2

>>574514529I can't really get mad at Sonic Prime. It feels like getting mad at Rollie Pollie Ollie. I think the voice cast is mostly good. I think if they were given more serious material to work with they would do a great jobThe movies are probably best for their spectacle. While there are decent fight scenes across the franchise they are most competently handled here. I think Movie 2 is a particularly interesting watch because you can see many covid era hiccups such as Sonic's bursts of speed having no effect on the surrounding environment in certain shots and blatant green screens. I am glad we got a film meant to invoke SA2 as late as 2024. I think that influenced the main series for the better. It gave us Shadow Generations. The imada manga feel the most like the games out of all the printed material. It's nice to see humans again. I like the episodic format of the chapters. The lower stakes situations feel like Sonic X episodes sometimes.
