Resisting low-effort AI slop trolls in the general is simple: do not feed them engagement, do not argue with dead-eyed prompts, and do not let them derail the thread.

Every single time you reply, quote, or interact with their bait, you push their garbage to the top and validate their disruption.

Posting original developer work, screenshots of actual engines, asset design breakdowns, and tangible game progress is the absolute best way to drown them out.

Overwhelm their sterile, automated spam with genuine passion, human craft, critiques, and community indie projects.

Remember that these trolls thrive entirely on negative attention and manufactured outrage; starve them of the reaction they are desperately farming.

The second you spot a blatant pro-AI disruption post, deploy your local imageboard's hide and ignore features instantly.

Train yourself and others to simply bypass the noise without typing a single word of rebuttal.

Hit the report button for off-topic spam or disruption according to the board's specific rules, then move on with your day.

Ensure the general stays focused on actual game development, brainstorming, programming, and mutual creative support instead of culture war distractions.

Maintain your focus on shipping your game and celebrating real, human-made artistry.

my experience and common sense tells me that it's impossible for me to make a game alone.
so what? just deving out of blind faith? hoping that it just goes "somewhere"?
is it ok to waste your life on something where you know that it will never go anywhere?
>>
>>574717365
>is it ok to waste your life on something where you know that it will never go anywhere?
isn't this what wagies do? I'd rather dev, make art/music, start a business I'm passionate about, etc. something with at least a small % chance of making it, and where I don't feel like I'm selling my soul.
Besides, it's totally possible to make a game alone. Just scope down. Look at Miziziz games for inspiration on realistic solo dev scope. You also need to make at least a game or two alone, and one good enough to show your talents and vibe, before anyone worthwhile will want to work with you (unless you luck out and are already friends with a dev or have some other proof of your worth)

Rock Simulator Simulator — You play a rock that watches someone else play a rock simulator.
Door Opening Championship — Competitive door opening. Some doors are push, some are pull.
Inventory Management: The Game — You spend 40 hours rearranging your inventory without ever leaving the first room.
NPC #472 — You play an NPC whose only purpose is to say, "Hmm, looks like rain."
Loading Screen Tycoon — Build a successful game studio by optimizing loading screens.
The Floor Is Slightly Wet — Navigate a completely normal supermarket while avoiding one tiny wet spot.
Reverse Tetris — You remove blocks from a perfectly completed Tetris board. If you accidentally make a line, you lose.
Grand Theft Shopping Cart — Steal increasingly expensive shopping carts while escaping mall security.
Bread Souls — A brutally difficult action RPG where you play as a slice of bread.
Untitled Goose Game 2: You Are the Goose — The entire game is just a goose asking you to identify yourself as a goose.
Walking Simulator Simulator — You walk around a virtual walking simulator and occasionally review it on Steam.
Boss Fight: The Tutorial — The tutorial is the final boss. The rest of the game is just credits.
Multiplayer Solitaire — Four players sit at the same table and independently play solitaire.
Fishing Game — You sit by a lake. Nothing happens. Occasionally, a fish looks at you.
The Button — You have one button. Pressing it does absolutely nothing. The game has 500 achievements.
Tax Evasion RPG — Your main stats are Income, Suspicion, Accountant Quality, and Number of Offshore Accounts.
NPC Dating Simulator — You try to romance a character whose dialogue consists entirely of "Welcome to my shop!"
Boss Rush: Customer Service — Fight increasingly angry customers by saying increasingly polite things.
The Ultimate Open World — An enormous 10,000 km2 map containing absolutely nothing. The main quest is to find a bench.

it's very possible for you to do it. but what do you mean faith and somewhere? make games to get better at making games and to explore the medium, have fun learning etc. that's life, that's living. you don't do it to get somewhere, you do it to be right there doing it. just like make game

>hey it is like this one game that already exists and I only vaguely heard about
>pure coincidence plus I barely know anything about it since I don't even own it
>think through ideas and add more content to the list of things to add
>time passes
>get curious and take a look at the game that is similar to mine
>one of my major ideas is exactly the same as it is in that game
Well this sucks. I will definitely get accused of copying that game despite it being pure coincidence. I literally avoided it so my idea can be as natural as possible, potentially referring to it eventually to see potential things I can do better. But nope my idea is the exact same as theirs. Not something they can sue me over but I don't want to called a copycat, it was completely original! But will anyone who owns that game and buys mine believe me? Doubtful.

This hurts ;_; I refuse to change my idea though. This is what I arrived to and that is that.

My monitor lives! This morning I turned on the computer and the second monitor turned on. It took like 30 seconds of blinking and coil whine but it's working! I'm very happy about this. It's been with me for 14 years and I get sentimental about electronics, especially since I'm broke.
Ate a high calorie chicken and cheddar sammich for breakfast and a couple of bananas. I hope I'll start working before 5pm today. In fact I'm supposed to start working at 10am but I just can't force myself to. Maybe today it'll be different?
86 days left. I owe 1700 minutes of work. Still working on quest resolution edge cases. This wasn't in my to-do list but it has to be done.
