I've finished the Darkest Dungeon mod. It was fun but could stand to have some more work done on it. It adapts the setting of the game pretty well to an isolated valley worldspace you access though a door in Falkreath hold. I thought that was an odd choice because the sea plays a pretty big role. The mod replaces it with a deep lake, but it's kind of strange to think of the ancestor shipping on it. I would have maybe put the door in Haafingar and implied the estate was somewhere in Jehanna on the coast. The worldspace itself is decent. It's deliberately somewhat confusing and difficult to navigate, with minimal map markers, but it looks good and has the right dreary, ominous mood.In order to make you use followers, all the enemies have a ton of health and tend to hit really hard. I found it to be a fun change of pace from how I usually play, but the balance was kind of all over the place with very swingy difficulty. Appearance wise, the enemies are pretty much all just recolored and/or mashed up vanilla stuff. Some are 100% vanilla assets. Some of these feel fine, but others feel like placeholders (e.g., the mammoth cysts are recolored literal mammoths). This applies to the artifact loot too, as well as all the environments. All of it is either vanilla assets, or very homemade looking stuff.The hamlet is bigger than any Skyrim town by a lot, but the interiors are largely copies of existing ones. It's full of NPCs, including versions of all the Darkest Dungeon heroes, who are all followers, but the mod has no dialog at all. All the words in the mod are a from handful of notes, journals, and books, mostly reproduced from the game. There are no journal entries or quest markers and it's up to you to go to the estate and wage your own campaign. The only dungeon I found that I recognized as copied was Vvulf's hideout. The others seemed to be unique and were often quite labyrinthine. It would be nice to see it get a facelift someday like Vigilant, but it's fun as is.
