>On both EN & JP twitters you see people posting the F-18I and asking where are my megacorp planes at PA?
Always a nice feeling to see other people wanting AC3 planes in 8
>>
>>574988435
I don't want AC3 planes, I want ACX planes
>>
>>574990653
I want those as well along with 3's versions of real world planes
But don't you want to fly an F-18I into battle against the landship or the airships while sporting a GR or UPEO logo + livery?
>>
>>574991340
No
AC3 version of real life jets looked stupid
>>
>>574991883
No they aren't they have that perfect late 90's cyberpunk vibe. 3's style of building have already shown up in 8 we are returning to it
Desu I could see PA going for an option to give people what they want and keep the planetism at full force. For 9 I expect it from start for 8 if it isn't in as a clear the game unlock I could see it as an update added later. That being an option to switch to COFFIN or keep a normal cockpit while just like the drop tank it is nothing more than a cosmetic addition.

Ended up getting AC 22 as it looks like it'll never go on sale.
It comes with both EN & JP roms as you can't change the voices you get both. Does offer gyro or button controls but flight mode is locked to novice. Up side however is F-14 mobility is crazy like I could keep up with the Geopelia.
21 missiles and 90,000 bullets.
Unlike Air Combat the wings on the F-14 do fold as do the wings on your HUD model which is a simple but nice touch.
>>
>>574990653
please look forward to battle pass season 2 featuring the fenrir
>>
>>574997727
I have a feeling that is what will happen for Superplanes. Normal planes might escape that fate and are in the base game however.

eh seems believable, things crash all the time. It would be less reasonable if they straight up claimed it was shot down.
>>
>>575001217
That sounds 100% truthful F-22's have crashed F-35's have crashed and we have a fully working and capable maintenance program. While in the last few years we have seen several Russian plane crash a few Su-30's come to mind something about the O2 system killing the pilots I think it was. Su-25's crashing shortly after take off
Shoddy, poor, or lack of maintenance is a death blow to a plane and no one can escape that fact.

Oh they deleted another Tu-95 on the ground
>AC 4 vibes man, feels good
>>
>>575002097
>>575003336
Do we have any concrete estimations of how many they have? They're probably not building more
>>
>>575004020
What Tu-95's?
They were built between 1952-1993 they made less than 500 of them. By 2020 they had around 55 left
Doing a bit of guess work going from the ones that have been destroyed and how many of those 55 actually worked in the first place and aren't just for show I'm going to take a guess they have maybe 10-12 left in operation at best.

Su-57?
Not counting the test units less than 20 scratch off the 3 that has been destroyed 17 or less left.

Russian museums seem to be more park them outside and just leave it. Like where one is parked along side the Su-47. The only way one of those planes will survive the ages is if some museum or collector in the west buys ones. Otherwise they will not survive this century.

It's my favourite, closely followed by zero. What stands out to me is how coherent and beautiful the whole game is. Everything fits together in the narrative, the asteroid crisis, Stonehenge being built, it being used to dominate usea, the grounded scifi setting. The way Stonehenge shows up in the briefings and later the gameplay. The Presentation, worldbuilding, atmosphere and story are all perfectly integrated, no other game comes even close, 3 maybe but not quite in the same way.

The story is also beautiful and yellow 13 is the most compelling rival in the entire series. Erusea is an amazing enemy nation and their reasons for invading are really fleshed out, believable and quite tragic. The gameplay is a little bland, yes, but I never understood why some people dislike it so much. Finally it’s also one of the few games in the series where everyone isn’t constantly jacking you off over the radio, which I really appreciate

my only real gripe with ac4 is that the standard missile is both too slow and doesnt track good enough such that the npcs could be pulling a quarter of a degree of aoa and it'd miss
otherwise it was the first entry on a new system so ofc it doesnt have the pizzazz of the other 2

I agree with every bit of praise AC4 gets regarding the story, the narrative style, the characters, the whole vibe.
But I just find it so bland to actually play.

By that point in the game you've already had missions just like that.
Besides all you would have had to do would was set allies to cover while you hug the ground and escape as fast as the A-10 can go. Most of the missiles will just impact the mountains instead of you.

>>575069368
I love the way the story's presented, the Continental War has an actual timeline of a few years and not just "world changing war happens and ends in a few months," and the narrative pacing is wonderful. From how much of the plot is presented at a time, to how big setpiece missions are followed by simpler ones to let the player relax a little which then ramps up to another setpiece, to the simple plane unlock style gradually giving the player more and more power without any grinding or paths/trees locking down what planes can be experienced. The missions are simplistic and rely heavily on score attack with long time limits, but overall the game's pretty short and while they can be dull the score attacks aren't fucking offensive to play like some missions in later entries.

It's not the biggest nor most ambitious title of the PS2 games, let alone the franchise, but it's the most engrossing one to me.

It's fun that the formula for a modern AC title isn't fully pinned down yet while being close (a lot of stuff like the calling of vectors and plot-unrelated background chatter is a little more "flight simmy" than in later games, like it seems to relate more to what's actually happening on the battlefield in-game than to the needs of the plot.) and in terms of pure arcade gameplay, 4 has the edge over 5/0 in terms of letting you try for maximum points in minimum time if you want to really commit to that. (Although, tbf, a lot of the score attack missions are over-long if you're just playing through the story again and zero's idea of ending the mission when you have the required score is better for that kind of playthrough.)

For my money X is the most underrated title.

>>575150710
But it will that is where PA wants it to go they already made mention that with 8 now they'll figure out how to connect the world they created to cyberpunk world of 3. Of course it won't be 1:1 that world will never come back. I expect it to be very different compared to what we all played. Real world planes won't vanish they'll still be around every single one of them will. But the COFFIN planes are going to be everywhere as well. 8 is most likely going to be the last game where COFFIN planes aren't common ally/enemy types right along side regular planes who will be much fewer in number
They might go with the option I want to have in 8 and you select normal or coffin cockpits for your planes.
>>

i get the feeling that if they make another game set around the same timeof 3, a lot of people are going to be disappointed that the aesthetic is nowhere near as cool 3's aesthetic from 1999
>>
>>575153083
Well we already are seeing those building types in 2029 and Sota looks to be fucking up large parts of USEA which gives an easy excuse to make everything look like 3 again. But not 100% like 80% with other 20% being normal real world buildings and stuff.

Desu no matter how they make the game its going to disappoint a lot of people you can't please everyone and if you try to do so you fail completely at what your trying to do. In which case don't worry about that and make the game you want which always turns out great. Its only when they go to the real world do failures happen.

4’s the best for me because of all the usual suspects. Great music, a memorable story, cool planes, and the perfect setting to kick off modern Strangereal. The only gripes I have is all the score attack missions and how disappointing Yellow Squadron and Megalith are in missions vs cutscenes. Which is more forgivable than all of 5’s linked together missions with bad gimmicks and Zero’s very short and light first half of the game.
>>
>>575164817

>>
but i do remember some annoying missions like the one where you have to escort that goddamn jumbo jet through the radar network or the one where you have to follow pops on the deck, there were a few of those

imo 5 just had too many missions
i'm not sure why they did it that way instead of deleting some and just making the remaining missions a bit longer

>i'm not sure why they did it that way instead of deleting some and just making the remaining missions a bit longer
But you see, following Pops along in a lengthy cutscene was absolutely critical for the experience. Just like how it's crucial to play as Blaze avoiding radar bubbles again so he could take some hot candids of Belkans dressed up as Oseans and Yuktobanians, then be encouraged to run instead of fight when they find out he's a peeping tom. Or how it was important to spend a mission finding Nagase after she gets shot down for forced drama.

Mitsuhiro Kitadani, maybe.
I'm no musicfag but the harmonies sound like that of his work from 7 and other BAMCO games.
I'm willfully ignoring the fact that he wrote most of the briefing and debriefing music for base-game 7, although those 7 tracks are good examples.

So this is that Belka I keep hearing so much about, huh?
Probably made even more interesting by the fact that I know about the next game being a prequel taking place during the Belkan War.
So far I didn't quite understand why people jokingly call this series Metal Gear with planes (except for the silly superweapons) but now that the story is picking up I'm a little more on board with that

They didn't really say anything new, just a brief recap of the game, its selling points and a few Q&A.
>AC8 will have the largest volume of content in the series, including the music
>Q1. Which plane and character left the most impression on you?
ShimomotoP: He came to like the Hornet due to constant exposure, it being the cover plane and a movie star.
Kono: Growler because having and playing a new plane category (EW) felt novel.
K: Tasha because they spent a lot of time working on her than anyone else. So her being so popular is a pleasant surprise.
>S: She's the first character we came up with and the last one we finished.
>K: We spent a lot of money on this woman
>S: That's a bad way to put it (raughs)
S: The man in the suit because his VA did a lot of adlibs that brings a lot of charm to the character.
>K: Oh you mean DD?
>S: Wait are you allowed to say that?
>K: I dunno lol
>Q2. How did the devs came up with the land battleship?
Early in the development, art director Kanno came up with the idea and made the concept art for it a few days later. Game director Isaki was resistant because it'd be difficult to implement but they did it anyway.
>K: Kono-san, this land battleship is like Godzilla
>K: That's how he tried to persuade me

okay now done and got the secret ending. Actually pleasantly surprised by this game and like I saId it's unironically one of my favorites in the series now.

Guess I'll replay 04 up next
>>
>>575288015
>Q3. What feature did you implement for new players and how does the difficulty compare to the previous game?
S: On top of tutorials fin the early missions, we also made a training mode for players to learn movement and maneuvers.
>K: Well the people watching this won't be needing it.
S: There are 4 difficulties (renamed) and a 5th one (Ace) after meeting certain conditions.
K: We designed the missions and adjusted difficulties based on what we've learned from last time and with 2 SPWs, wingmen, and parts you can adjust them to clear missions you find difficult.
>Q4. Which part of the game you've put the most attention to?
S: Well all of them, but I'd like to point out the sound designs. The sound team put a lot of effort to increase the feeling of immersion and they wanted the jet sounds to be as close as possible to the real ones.
>S: We went to a US base in Okinawa to record jet sounds but we didn't know *when* they're gonna be flying, so we had to hold up mics in the sweltering summer heat.
>K: That was fun.
>S: No it wasn't, It was hellish.
K: My job is to take things from various departments like dialogues and music and put them together in gameplay to create scenes that will give goosebumps to the players.

LAMO, these are the kind of answers you give when you lack sleep and go to work.

Didn't know they made a trip to Okinawa for plane sounds. And a good excuse for a company paid beach day.

Finished AC5, good shit.
I think overall I liked it more than 4, but it's also fresher in my memory. There is more of a story with more over the top batshit moments, which I loved. The tunnel run was hype as fuck and both the Arkbird and SOLG were very fun bossfights
My two biggest criticisms are probably that special weapons are locked to each aircraft, I wish you would at least have a few options per plane I'm assuming that's what the "upgraded" version of each plane, that I didn't unlock, are for and the fact that despite several very intense naval battles I haven't heard "Vampire, vampire, vampire" a single time.
Great game, looking forward to playing Zero, still regret a little that my childhood plane game of choice was Heroes of the Pacific instead of one of these.
By the way, people in here recommended me the PS2 trilogy specifically. What about AC6, is it any good? Should I play that before going to 7?
>>
>>575331451
No you are locked to one SP per plane you have no upgraded version of any plane.

>Vampire, vampire, vampire
You won't hear that they don't say that in any game.

>What about AC6, is it any good?
6 is great its a must play. Play it after Zero and you have played X right? If not play it before you play 6.
>>
>>575331451
>What about AC6, is it any good?
6 is best played after the PS2 games so you can appreciate how much they actually took advantage of next-gen technology (at the time) to expand gameplay massively, much like how 04 was the same compared to the PS1 games. Just be prepared for a much smaller plane roster because they couldn't reuse assets from the PS2 games, and mute the cutscenes.
>>
>>575333991
>>575334245
>No you are locked to one SP per plane you have no upgraded version of any plane.
I meant how you unlock the F-20A from the F-5E, which have different SP, but that's the only score based unlock I've got

tragic
>6 is great its a must play. Play it after Zero and you have played X right? If not play it before you play 6.

Aye sir, I'll check them out. Only ones I've played are 4 and now 5. A little bit of 7 too, but that was years ago and I quit after a few missions because it felt like I couldn't fully appreciate the game without the context of playing at least a few of the older ones. I'm feeling like I'll enjoy it a lot more once I get to it this time.
>>
>>575335126

Then re-play AC7, there are a TON of easter eggs for enjoyers of the older game. One of those that stuck with me for the longest time, is when in M4 the Razgriz motifs plays for a couple of seconds when (Heavy spoiler if you didn't reach Mission 4) President Harling gets killed

I'm having an issue with the translation patch for the AC3 Appendisc. To quote the instructions:
>But this time you need the disc contents split into multiple BIN/WAV files and a single CUE file.
>The reason is that we are going to apply the patch only to the only BIN file, the first track of the disc
So the disc needs to be split into multiple BIN files, but the patch is going to be applied to the only BIN? Is this some bungled way of writing that the first BIN file is what gets the patch, like it says at the end of the sentence?
I just want to be sure before I pull the trigger on this.

>Then re-play AC7, there are a TON of easter eggs for enjoyers of the older game
Very nice
>spoiler
that's cool. I've played that mission but not far past it, I believe and I was wondering if that's the same Harling as in 5. Also the name Kestrel seemed familiar, so I'm not sure if it or a ship with the same name might not be in 7 as well. The Erusian ace in 7 also seems a lot like just the Yellow 13 archetype again.
Also starting with the earlier games has made the following the world building so much easier. You can't introduce Erusea, Usea and Osea all in the same cutscene and expect people to follow it, learning about them one by one though has made it very simple.
>After this experience, if you crave more, play AC3 Electrosphere
For sure.
I had to find a balance between tarting with the old games, but not making it overwhelming, since it is a big series. So going back all the way to Air Combat felt too daunting and 4 seemed like a god entry point, since 2 is light on story and 3 takes place in the future from what I understand. But I'm probably gonna go back to them eventually.

Because people wanted to believe in optimization.
It seems that it'll be an unoptimized piece of shit, like 90% of UE5 games out there
upscaled 1080p at MEDIUM settings for 60fps on reccomended setting is undefendable. It's monster hunter tier of unoptimization

no that was waaaaaay worse.
you'd get 30-40fps on the AC8 recced hardware requirements with upscaling set on performance, frame gen was mandatory in that game and it still looked like absolute dogshit.

In comparison AC8 actually has the visual fidelity to warrant higher hardware. Also sorry anon but you've deluded yourself if you expected any major changes compared to a few months ago. Like you said yourself it's on par with other EU5 games (new halo game as example).

I'm not defending EU5 by any means but common man what did you expect here.

Don't care either way I ordered it for PS5. When good GPU cost as much as consoles do might as well just get it on a console and save the PC for everything else less hassle and cheaper this way

Buddy, it's no longer about upgrading your PC because of some new graphics breakthrough like it was during the Crysis era.
Now hardware upgrades are becoming mandatory because developers rely on AI and upscaling shortcuts to cut costs instead of properly optimizing their games, while often delivering worse overall visual fidelity.
It's literally one step forward and ten steps back.
I can run UE5 slop just fine on my machine, but that's not the point. It's simply unacceptable. If your answer is just "should've upgraded," eventually Damocles' sword will be hanging over your neck too.

Normalizing the idea of buying a €1,500 GPU every year because developers want to shift development costs onto consumers is not the right approach.
>>
>>575453239
Even if i believe UE5 is dogshit i still think many are missing the point, you can turn some settings down from ultra to medium and get 30fps extra while some settings don't even give you 2fps at best
Lets say volumetric fog that generally kills performance and loses almost no detail from high to low because it only impacts the internal resolution for effects passing through it etc. Just turn it down.
Also kill some of the shit you don't really need like motion blur, DOF, CA, etc and get even more.
4k high needs a 4080 okay who gives a fuck about 4k, 1440p should be the target.

Yeah a 3070 for 1080p upscaled is too much, if it was 1440p it would be fine but raytracing is simply the problem, most cards cannot handle raytracing even after 9 years of it being pushed hard and we still won't be able to have raytraced games for another 3-4 generations of cards at least.
And no slow delayed population of noise and light in spaces that takes around 2-3sec when you turn your camera or something moves is not realtime enough for real time raytracing to be worth it.
>>
>>575454751
>wah
Just turn down the graphics settings, I don't really know what else to say.

The industry's in a shitty spot these days sure but you act like it's only a recent trend to have poorly optimized games releasing. It shouldn't have to be the norm but it's probably self-correcting since consumer hardware has long since plateaud and developers will eventually realize they're missing out on a decent market share who can't run their games, although most of the big companies are retarded so who knows. People still buy games regardless of how well they run, just look at basically every Bethesda release since Morrowind.

>Ray Tracing
Less manual lighting work for developers, more GPU load for players.
>DLSS
AI upscaling that's increasingly used to compensate for a lack of optimization, saving development time while shifting the performance burden onto the consumer.
>Frame gen
Technologies that started as optional features but are increasingly treated as requirements, allowing developers to rely less on optimization and more on the player's hardware.
>Photogrammetry
Faster creation of realistic environments, but often at the cost of huge asset sizes and higher hardware demands.
>Lumen\Nanite
More tools to quickly achieve high-end visuals, but they can encourage shipping games that rely on brute-force hardware instead of optimization.
>Shader compilation on your PC
Less testing and optimization on the developer side, more stuttering and troubleshooting for consumers.
Of course i will get down the graphic to run a game that runs shitty, but there will come a day that your beast-of-a-machine will be worthless because we keep going down this path.
THIS is the problem. You are not forced to upgrade because you want to keep going up the mountain, you are forced to upgrade to fill the hole they left behind

>>
It's fascinating having watched the value propositon shift and how it affected ye olde PC Gaming Master Race discourse. Rewind ten years where hardware advancements are booming and every release is either cheaper for not much performance loss or just about as/slightly more expensive than the previous gen and it's all sunshine and roses with the loudest voices being the autistic battlestation builders trying to make FPS go up for epeen. Fast forward to recent times when broader industry and market trends have reminded everyone what it's like to own a potato PC, and now the loudest voices are people who haven't upgraded in years desperately wishing developers cater to their rigs and not the battlestation crowd.

Meanwhile a console WILL play this game, just as has been consoles' selling point for decades now. Nobody owns shit anymore though.
>>
Funny how once again the thread is full of people bitching about specs. Just like it was when they posted the min specs a while back. I wonder how many have wondered in from /v/ or reddit just to bitch because they haven't done a PC upgrade in 7 or 8 years. Seriously did a lot of you people not put just a little bit of money aside every week for several years so they could buy a nice modern PC or get a PS5?

>>575456087
You could play it now at low then in a few years feel like its whole new game when you play it at full. Then you would be able to enjoy full settings even more as you've played it long enough you can pay more attention to the view and not have pay attention to what your doing as much as you know what to do and expect with out thinking.
>>
>>575457884
Maybe i wasn't clear.
Back in the day, you upgraded to go up the mountain towards peak graphics.

Now, you need to upgrade to fill up the hole the developers leave behind, and use framegen to go halfway throug peak graphics.
It's fundamentally different
>>
>>575455730
Don't get me wrong I think raytracing has a future, it is tech we will all use but it was pushed far too early, same with 4k, ps4 was a 4k console then pspro then ps5 and now you cant really sell a ps6 on a 4k promise because 4k was 10+ years ago even if all the consoles were 720p and hell now some ps5 games are fucking 560p
BUT THE BOX SAYS 4K is the consumer mindset
I'd rather have a good 1080p image than a shitty 1440p or 4k one, look at the new halo remake or any ue5 game that looks blurry, messy, noisy and runs like shit

AC8 looks great but we won't really know the performance before launch, we can hope it will run better than they say it does.

>Photogrammetry
Used in many games that were easily maxed on a 1060 6gb 10 years ago and those games beat out most RT heavy 5090 requiring games today
>Lumen\Nanite
while i get hw lumen, software is shit, nanite is a good idea when used for some things the implementation is unfinished and fucked in UE just like most fucking features they make and their manual tells you DO NOT IMPLEMENT IT AS A CHECKMARK and then modern devs click the checkmark and call it a day

If you read up on UE games some devs spent months figuring out a lot of CPU issues and wasted gpu time doing nothing, shit that updates 60x per second even if it stays in place etc.
Fucking gacha devs make blogs and blogs about optimizing games and tricks they use and people are shocked when a thing is implemented and it costs less than 1fps and looks better than a fully realistic 30fps chugging piece of shit
>Shader compilation on your PC
More dev control means more dev work and skill needed to code everything well, shit was automated before, UE5 compiles shaders and then forgets to actually do it most of the time. They admitted this recently that yeah the compilation didn't really compile the shaders well lmao hehe you know whoops
>>
>>575457583
You can play the game on a 8+ year PC too bro, you can play it on a potato modern pc too
Set the game to 1080p performance mode or enable frame gen and its going to play, you will get above 30fps

That is the console way, people here want more than 30, they want games that look at least the same they did 8 years ago and to run better after 5 generations of components not games that look worse and run 16x worse
Look at monster hunter, shit looks like a ps3 game, looks the same as world and that ran okay on a 1060 now wilds needs a 4090 for what? 480p textures? 18 gorillion poly beards on a monster behind 3 canyon walls and fog?
>>
>>575458924
Obviously my post may have sounded anti-technology and anti-progress, but that is not the point.
These tools can be revolutionary when paired with knowledge and expertise. The problem is when they are used as replacements for skilled work, mainly to cut costs, because "good enough" is often enough for the market.

Ray tracing can be breathtaking when combined with proper lighting design and optimization, but when used as a shortcut it shifts the burden from developers to consumers, who pay the price in performance.
>>
>>575458916
This isn't then this today and like it or not that is how it works now.
You've had years to upgrade or buy a whole new rig. Years to set aside a little bit of cash every week or month then buy nice parts. You knew this was going to happen just by how everything was going. You have no one to blame but yourself for not being ready for a game you knew would have high specs.
>>

Yeah my bad. My issue is with people with a 1650 claiming its not fair or its shitty. And then people with a 5090 being okay with a 55fps game on 1080p just to own the poors.

Both camps are retarded, people champion bad practices and excuse shit all the time. Currently we are all paying the price for sloppa generators and insane shareholder stories about removing the entire workforce with just one more datacenter just trust me bro just one more.
We can hope they can still make progress with the game, I've seen devs fix a lot of shit in a month or two so who knows.
>>
>>575460087
Oh fuck you, blind gamers? Look at the fucking thing, what diminishing returns? Shit looks worse than a 2014 game and requires a 5090
They had to implement basic fallbacks and optimisation tech a year+ after launch.

Horizon zero dawn looks much better than wilds, runs on a 1060
Look at any fucking game and it looks better than wilds.
It should run on a 2060 based on how it looks. Being new does not make it better, same goes for shit like dragons dogma 2, why the fuck does that game run so bad? Everything that could have went wrong did with it.

For anyone running a 60hertz tv like me, disable “allow variable bit rate and screen tearing” and then set the games internal fps to 59, this will eliminate 95% of any screen tearing. I was getting screen tearing with the default settings on this newest release from 12 days ago even with Vsync on. The earlier release 6 weeks ago I did not have any screen tearing most likely because it was 30fps and had a shitload of microstutters.

No it isn't but not much we can do about it. No one will listen they just keep going on the same course hell I even seen some indie guys who are getting so fucking lazy they make a game that from everything you see of it could run just fine on a computer from 2002 yet its min specs would be high end gaming in 2015. I'm at the point of fuck it lets just run it all the way into the ground as it seems and feels like anyone and everyone who makes games today doesn't care and won't start to care until just seconds before impact then its to late. I feel like a certain line of Pixy's is very fitting for how I view modern game development in both indie, small and big name studios alike. Yes you'll make it in 1080p
it wants 32 you have 32 expect slowdowns unless you lower a setting or two. Of if you have the cash to burn consider buying another stick of ram of any size and the problem will go away.

easiest performance gain would be getting an X3D CPU
UE5 is notoriously CPU intensive and you can get a 5800X3D decently cheap in most places.

RAM is fine. GPU could be better but those are expensive, can always just lower texture settings and be fine.

No, you double nigger. A short story titled "Dark Blue" written by Sunao Katabuchi featuring Avril and her grandfather has been released and we learn that:
>Avril was born 2 years before the Belkan War began (born 1993)
>Under President Harling, Osea did deploy a contingent of fighters to assist ISAF in combating Erusean forces during AC4's continental war.
>Avril's dad was shot down by Yellow 13 near Stonehenge.
>Avril's dad also knew Yellow 13 personally, getting drunk with him at a bar prior to the war.
>Avril's dad was ordered by Osean commanders to be in the rear guard rather than volunteering for it as stated in AC7.
>Avril's Grandfather knew Svenson and Baker from the Sand Island detachment in AC5 (they were the pilots killed in AC5's opening cutscene)

https://enso-order.acecombat.jp/special/novel-darkblue/

Thoughts on the short story? I personally don't like how Yellow 13 had to be included, it makes the world of Ace Combat feel smaller because every character has to have some connection with another character the players will recognize. I also don't think a pacifist like Harling would deploy Osean combat forces unless it was the Grey Men controlling him.

No you faggot. It's the higher resolution details, higher poly plane and missile models, the higher detailed fucking ground and sea rendering (a lot of buildings/vehicles that were texture maps in 7 are now actual 3d models with hitboxes in 8, and waves have noticeably more dynamic behavior), the responsive weather system and damage system. The clouds are just the easiest thing to point to because no matter where you are in 7/8 you can look at cloud porn.

I'm tired of /v/ermin coming here to complain about graphics every time PA makes an announcement about specs. The series' gameplay has been largely the same since 2 on the PS1 but it's incredibly disingenuous to assert that they haven't been improving graphics alongside the different console generations.

If you liked AC7, you should play AC4-AC5-AC0 in this order, and you will be hooked on the franchise forever.
After those, you will probably crave more, and you should play AC3-ACX-AC6 in that order because those are great as well.
Then you should replay AC7 and you'll appreciate twice more. If you want to appreciate AC7 three times over, you should play ACAH to see how low and how close to the end we went before the return to form.

>They need to make the retard controls a non default thing like in the older games, you see people get those wrong all the time with 7
Agreed, imo it’s kind of unfair to noobs to present the proper controls as an optional-sounding “expert” mode, I bet a lot of people wouldn’t even try because “it’s my first time with the game, I’m obviously not an expert” and then end up with a degraded experience. How would they know better without someone irl to tell them? A lot of the game is actually harder with the babby controls too.
>>
>>575592848
Not to mention noobs are probably not going straight to the settings menu, lol, they’re just going to play on default options. It should default to the proper controls and prompt you at the tutorial, and label them something like “standard” and “simplified”.
>>

>“it’s my first time with the game, I’m obviously not an expert”

Anime into 3DCGI into real actors. What's next, having to go to a theater performance between Ace Combat 6 missions?
Zero is pretty fun so far, I'm curious about how they'll spice up the story, considering it's a prequel and I know how the Belkan war will ultimately end (or do I?), plus the anticipation of actually seeing it is still strong.
Also airborne mercenaries has got to be of the most Strangereal things ever. Plus it allows me to fly some planes like the Mig-21 (and most redfor planes) that felt a little out of place in the previous games. But a mercenary flying basically the plane version of the AK-47 seems very on brand.
The honor system, or whatever it's called, seems interesting too. If they'll do anything with it, like placing SAM sites or mission targets in densely populated civilian areas or something, because so far it mostly seems like: do you want to blow up a maternity ward on your way to the objective?: yes; no;

Consolefags winning as usual. Being autistic about PC specs and getting everything to work right was worthwhile when it was a consumer-oriented market and the manufacturers were making huge innovations. That's fair. I just bring it up because some people are less price elastic than others and 50% more might be a dealbreaker. But even a new PS5 is only ~$600 depending on the store, and right now that money gets you maybe 2/3 of the RAM/CPU/GPU trio needed by modern games, let alone about fans and mobos and I/O if someone's rig is that outdated. Meanwhile fucking consoles are plug and play and come with a controller.
>>
>>575626670
I've seen massive amounts of pc and console wars over the years but never have I seen someone attempt to show the costs of needing a new console every few years + the high initial costs on PC and (traditionally) lower upgrading costs. I don't care much personally, since I'd need a PC either way

Eh, I play my shit on PC as well but it's just a different market now and even by this thread alone a good number of anons haven't/haven't been able to upgrade to keep up with this generation. Console generations are super long now (I genuinely don't think we'll see PS6/Xbox 5 any earlier than 2030, particularly since the hardware market is trash) and ever since September/October newer PC hardware has gotten very expensive and will likely remain so for the next couple of year least. But everything's also multiplatform these days (except the weirdos at Nintendo, bless them) meaning choosing a gaming box or powerful PC is basically just picking what big company you'd rather take your money and gambling on either how long a console or current PC hardware will be viable for.
>>
Buddies I’m having a lot of trouble on mission 10 ragno fortress on ac #6 I keep crashing in the tunnels because I can’t see the architecture in time. Also why the hell can’t I get an s rank this game is challenging, it’s almost as masochistic as X.
I don’t understand why anyone would play this schizophrenia simulator. I can barely understand what is happening to my allies.
>>
For anyone thinking about getting it for ps5 or pc look at it like this, if you can play newer games or if you have a pc with a 3070 or above and if you have a decent enough cpu get ac8 on pc, if you still have a 10 series or early barely RT capable card and you won't or can't upgrade and you have a ps5? get the game on the ps5

The console won't run the game at 4k, no it saying 4k does not make it 4k, just how you can play 4k on pc but the game renders 1080p and upscales it consoles do the same thing.
The 32gb ram thing does not mean the game NEEDS 32gigs it means your system should have 32gigs but thats often overblown to fuck, most games say they need 32gigs but they run on 16 with minimal difference, I mean 1-5% at most and some games like cyberpunk have no difference at all.

A 5060 or a 5070 will run the game, a 5070 is around 550€ for europistan and around 650$ in burgerland, you can go for a 40 series or the amd equivalent card if you can find one but those are more expensive generally
Look at the end of the day if you have a 1080p or a 1440p monitor a 600€ card will do well for you, yes that does mean upscaling but that is a battle we lost years ago. If you own a 1440p ultrawide or a 4k and 4k ultrawide screen you are fucked, you are a slave to the price of the hardware because those resolutions are just too much.
A good x3d CPU will kill the game, get a cheaper 7800x3d and you are still golden.

Beat the game with like 2 missions not being S ranks first try just by doing this simple trick.
Fly fast, rocket launchers are op as fuck and cover a lot of ground, you can use the dpad to change your current operation and that will allow you to focus on your mission targets, each operation you clear will grade you, getting 2 S ranks beats clearing 4 ops with B or A ranks.
Don't be stupid like me and HOLD the Dpad up or down to use the allied assault move thing, they target everything in your screen and kill a decent amount of targets.

Focus on one or two at a time at most. The tunnels are quite easy just go in slow and low and you will be able to do it ace.

Oh and also before I do any of that I probably should replace my almost 11 year old PSU too lmao
>>
>>575630652
Switch to HUD mode and fly in them at base speed you'll be fine.
>S rank
You don't have to do it on your first run in 6 getting all S doesn't unlock or do anything its just something to do.
If you think it gives you skins like in 7 or unlocks planes like in Zero it doesn't Just play have fun you can S rank it later.

Just so you know you don't have to do that sub mission you can skip it and do others the level will still progress once you meet the required number of submissions complete.
>>
>>575631039
Yeah those were more popular where I live so the prices went up while the nvidia cards slowly trended down a bit so you can get a 5070 for 100$ cheaper at times
depends on the model and shit but a 5060 12gb or a 5070 will run the game without any issues

It just depends on the performance at launch, the previews seemed fine, a 5080 ran 4k native from what someone said, compared to some games that require a 5080 for 1080p its fine. Its going to perform worse than we want but better than expected at this point.

Its 11 years old and doesn't have enough power for a game that will run your system at close to full power. It will break and it will shut your system off from can't draw enough power.

Alright buddy I will try again tomorrow. I really did not expect 6 to be this much of a learning curve. I think my biggest problem so far is destroying a bunch of green enemies and all the local red enemies and still getting a b rank on the equivalent operation in the in-game pause menu. I’ll figure it out one day.
>>
>>575634237
Just use your gun and RKT special weps they delete green targets in seconds, rockets cover so much terrain in insta death that they make a lot of the ground based missions so much fun, a single strafing run can delete an entire blockade of greens fucking up your allies.
Also you can go pass the fortress and kill the power plants, dunno what it does to be honest but they say some shit about the power going down and base defences dying on them so that might help.
>>
>>575630831
Yeah I’ve been having that thought more and more recently with many games. Just want the experience and not the arbitrary bullshit. So far 6 has been really challenging. It’s very far away from 3, trinity, 7, X, and “2”3DS. But thankfully not as shit as ASSWHOREtm. The music is great and it sort of seems like a greatest hits collection from the trinity even though it’s all new tracks. X is sill the most difficult (gay) and 3 is literally all weird circumstantial clear requirements.

We shall see what the future holds for Emmeria and Estovakia. Aigaion was piss easy just like mission 1 and 2 were.

once denuvo is removed, the requirements will drop.

why would they remove denuvo when the multiplayer is going to be a significantly more important aspect of the lifecycle with 8 this time around

they removed denuvo from 7 after a year iirc
>>
>>575644648
It's worse than that, gaming as a whole has abandoned you and left you in the dust. Try to run literally any indie itchio game, you simply can't anymore. At this point killing yourself is self-improvement

For real or are you just pulling this out of your ass? It's time to smack Nvidia back to reality anyway
>>
>>575645996
I really don't see the multiplayer being active for a long time, niche as it is, unless it improves by a lot. And no, Bamco actually giving their full attention to it isn't assuring, its quite possibly the contrary.

Buddies the only way we can truly vote and have any voice regarding the issue, is to vote with our wallet. Wait for some gameplay footage a week after release and make a decision. Bandai namco will react accordingly to our small and insignificant community. Don’t be tempted by Belkan FOMO. Give it a while, and make an informed decision. The consumer is the voice of market correction.

ive seen enough raw gameplay footage, have heard enough 2nd hand testimonials from neutral third parties to be fully convinced 8 will be one of the better entries in the franchise, if not the best from a pure mechanical perspective. therefore, ive spent the beaucoup zollars for the big dick preorder.
>>
>>575649180
What do you mean too late? You already voted. You made your decision. You can be at peace with that, and everyone else can accept than a buddy made a decision.

5080 at msrp sounds nice, I check microcenter every now and then.

What are you crazy? or just nuts? All the regular poster here not the tourist that have flooded the thread this week mind you have already preordered the game the day it was up for order. We are ready for it either on PC/PS5 & those very few who have an Xbox.

Yeah your nuts & crazy at the same time.
>>
>>575650067
NTA but I preordered but then refunded it because that specs scares me, I might have to wait for now. Wish they'd release a demo for us to test it out before buying.

>>
>>575650613

does min spec = game is barely playable? I'm honestly fine with the game just being playable or at least doesn't kill my eyes.
>>
>>575650667
Then sell it and use that to buy a 5 along with 8 its backwards compatible you can play all your games you had for the 4 on it.
>>
>>575650067
I have been one of the first posts in this thread reacting to 8's announcement but still holded getting the preorder until I could see the specs and gameplay footage. My machine is on the minimum specs so I still go my doubts, not everyone discussing about the game's predicted performance, one using UE5 by the way, is a le tourist doomer you know.

>>575650897

I might have to do this once the high spec game starts rolling out, I'm going to miss the mods though

Friend Project Aces isn't some infamous dev team. They're a bunch of plane autists who've been making roughly the same flavor of game for the past couple of decades but with newer graphics each time, all mostly targeted for the current Sony console with PC releases only for the 3 newest entries. Gamers who've been outpaced by the current hardware market are literally not their target audience.

You can find shittons of gameplay footage from all the people they had play and post it to YT. You can see the min and rec specs now.
Your machine can do min then your fine you got nothing to worry about.

>>575646460
Luckily for me I still have a bunch of older games I can enjoy, and I can even run some modern indie releases. I'm sure by the time I've finished playing most games released before 2020 that I want to play I'll have saved up enough money to get a PC that can play AC8.

I'm not super concerned, supposedly all the preview footage so far was taken in performance mode which looks really good already
