As one of the very few botmakers that have actually made a non-event collab bot in the past (https://taora.neocities.org/#Ryo), I will say that passing a document back and forth and working on whatever you feel like at the moment balances things out pretty well. There's an almost editorial-y quality to it. Assigning parts is, imo, the safe option since you're essentially saying "I do this, you do this, we meet in the middle on things that need to be changed on either side to be reflected in the other.". There's a lot more things commingling when you're revising and completing each other's lines and paragraphs that go past the simple act of actualization. But the problem is, of course, that whoever you're working with needs to be on the same wavelength when it comes to the process itself more so than the concept, which is why I think these sorts of spontaneous collaborations don't happen all that much to begin with. It's not very uncommon, in this hobby, to find someone that shares your tastes, yet still feel as if you're speaking different languages sometimes.
