Chapter 5 has definitely grown on me (no pun intended). I liked it from the very beginning but I think, even more than other chapters, this one benefits a lot from replays/rewatches. Like how I found Flowery a very obnoxious and Gary Stu-esque character at first, but now I can appreciate that A. the "too good to be true" bit is both fully intentional and not actually true, and B. he's literally the protagonist of his own story. Most of all I think it's really interesting how so much of Deltarune has been about these platitudes of "With determination hopes and dreams come true! You can be anything you want to be!", while Flowery's whole deal is literally just that, yet Ralsei is seething with anger the whole time and saying "NO, not YOUR hopes and dreams!" And then of course the chapter ends with us just dashing all the flowers' hopes and dreams and ruining their ideal world forever... and that's in the pacifist route. Obviously there's a little more nuance with how they supposedly can't stay in their Dark World forever without sunlight but you get the point.I think the inversion of the Omega Flowey fight, especially at the end where THEY'VE got the power of friendship while we have to play as just solo Kris and beat the fuck out of them. And I didn't realize this at the time of first playing it, but the message of "actually, sometimes your hopes and dreams don't come true and you have to resign yourself to your fate" is so sobering, especially after a chapter that feels like goofy filler 90% of the time. It's a lot more subtle then the Chapter 3 ending was with the Knight just killing Tenna, but it feels worse (to me) because we're the ones that ruined everything lol(wow, that's a lot of words, I hope this ended up worth reading...)

Why did Deltarune suddenly add traversal gimmicks starting with Chapter 4? It's just an odd decision and makes the game feel very inconsistent. It just makes it clear the game was made on the fly with no clear plan in place.
