The Skyggenborn mod was breddy fun. Much shorter and more polished than the Darkest Dungeon mod, more like the Old Cathedral one. Definitely spoopy and built and released tension pretty well. I thought the spoop factor fell off a bit once the haunter actually appeared. It might be spookier with a lower level character with fewer tools to rely on, or it might just be frustrating.

Still not exactly what I want (which is the Spell Research also handling ingredient discovery), but it's a reasonable in between for not knowing everything instantly and being able to figure any ingredient out if you have enough quantity of it. Just finished Masareria and it was a lot of fun, janky too but in a soulful way. The bad English is amusing and there are even cinematics. Only downsides are that the main town is very performance heavy because of the huge amount of NPC's and I had to reload several times becauase the quest got stuck.
