Then the player proceeds to cast a bunch of spells that nobody prevents and nobody casts anything of their own, that just kills them all, and you watch a few animations of slaughtering them even though you're just pressing two buttons on the controller. So with all of this put together, my first impression of gameplay systems is good, but my first impression of gameplay is bad.That said, this is still an alpha, and combat is one of the things that can easily be polished as the game develops. Additionally, these previews are always played on game-journalist difficulty which is the most braindead one, so we'll see what the higher difficulties are like. Fable was never a hard franchise, but the harder difficulties were at least harder than what was shown here. But that makes sense, since this was journalist difficulty for the sake of demonstration.

You go Exemplar if you want to further improve on two Archetypes you already have or alternatively go for third.I also think Bladedancer is badly designed and doesn't fit alongside others. It focuses too much on swords, which breaks Archetype design which are supposed to be very generic takes on common fictional archetypas. All those sword related abilities are too fluffy for an Archetype, those should be Death Cult Origin features and Death Cult should have been playable Origin too. Bladedancer should be named as such and just be in general Dex Fighter so you can make use of daggers in an assassin style or swashbuckling or fighting unarmed etc

They have various downsides since orky tech is wacky, but there are various upsides to choose from.And the ork can have a custom class made just for him much like Cassia and the manipulus. Maybe he's a weirdboy, maybe he's a beast snagga with a mount, etc. They could really have fun with the final class here if they want.

The geomatic nature of the buffing requires huge amounts of power scaling which means that any narrative impact from facing a specific type of enemy is diluted. In rogue trader for example there is no "oh shit its an X" moment because you know that everything is just kind of a morass of sameness. A chaos space marine may be outshined by a random gang of thugs in terms of encounter difficulty. And even on the highest possible settings if you have the least idea what you doing you can completely stomp every encounter in the game unless there is some cheap hidden mechanic, like an enemy suddenly interrupting you with an extra turn in response to a specific trigger event. And your ability to slaughter the enemies quickly means you don't get to seem many of their genetic abilities. And positioning becomes almost irrelevant other than lining up area attacks which invalidates the entire cover system very quickly.It seems like they deliberately choose the most difficult combat and leveling system to implement, failed and then instead of reworking the systems from the ground up just threw in a couple of surprise ruling breaking abilities on bosses to surprise you.The table top systems they are translating already have issues which can be easily alleviated by anybody capable of basic math and without the need to manually roll those fixes are simple to implement but instead of doing that they create these strange counter intuitive systems which disconnect the combat from the narrative and are just plain unfun to play.
