For me, classic world of warcraft has never been about staying and playing a certain old version forever. For me, it's about re-experiencing the past versions of the game.I have no interest in eras. I feel nothing to have the best in slot-geared character locked in their expansion as sort of a memento and have very hard time imagining anyone would pay subscription just to have that character playable, best I can think of is that somewhere down the line in 5 years you get the urge to play, you lock in on your bis-geared character and goof around for 15 minutes before logging off and canceling your subscription for another 5 years.That being said, I'm not against the eras either and I hope you get them, but I think that the strawman situation I built and mentioned earlier will happen.As for the progressive World of Warcraft classic, I don't get the people who say that there's no precedence of progressive servers. That may be true for wow, but not for MMO-genre. Everquest is the example with its Time-Locked Progression (TLP) servers. Everquest TLP servers have progressed through the first expansions to the latest version, not skipping or apologizing for even the most unpopular expansions of the venerable game. And when the progression catches up to the release version, they do to the merge with the release. Now, everquest expansions are more like a large context patches of wow. But the precedence is there. Holly Longdale was a key person behind these servers, and I doubt that Blizzard hired her unless they were going to follow the same pattern with someone who knows the pitfalls of the process.As of right now, the Warlords of Draenor is the oldest version of world of warcraft we've not been able to play. I'm very much looking forward to revisiting it. Everquest community hated the gates of discord expansion but with the TLP re-release the community became much more forgiving towards it. Will the same happen with wodc?

Has anyone on the anniversary tbc realms been able to get their level 60 characters transferred to a classic era realms? I stopped playing a few months into classic anniversary and unsubbed because I didn't really like the community on nightslayer. Also hated shit like Arathi and gagetzan areana was locked out until a later phase. Got my black war ram and was doing some onixia for pugs when I quit. Didn't know at all blizzard was gonna let people on anniversary transfer to a permanent era realm right before the tbc update.On paper I'm reading they don't allow it but I figure it's because they're just lazy. They have the ability to copy characters it's just a matter of having a GM do it manually rather than using some automated transfer program. Does anyone know of anyone doing this successfully? I'll resub and play classic era on my own pace if it's possible.
