The more time goes on the more I think this game is such a fucking waste. The whole ride is amazing but the ending is such a fucking nothingburger. You win, straight out, and there is no price to be paid. They tried to fake out everyone sacfricing themselves for you only to go 'lmao we got better'. Then you beat Not Lucifer and it looks like the ending will at least be you sacrificing your happiness to serve the kingdom, except nah you can just fuck off an adventure anyway. I was prepared to name this one of my fav games of all time but the ending has zero fucking impact. I feel like regicide should have made the level modifier on damage higher for the enemy and lower for the player, or just increase boss hp way way way more. Atlus games usually have the problem that the amount of damage you can stack far outweighs the damage reductions and when you fight a anything overleveled even if the level multiplier is something small like x1.3 it feels like you just explode the enemy like a piñata. Merciless difficulty in p3r has that same problem, it is actually a fine difficulty until you discover auto buff and now suddenly every battle starts with a x1.4 multiplier on damage and theurgy ready to let loose
