I can't tell if playing Arbitrator has made me worse at the game or if I've just gotten worse with my original classes. I do just fine with Skitarius and I don't need to use the dog to do well, but if I go back to my Zealot it just doesn't feel great. Arbitrator just feels good to play what with being an unstoppable tank and knocking enemies around.

a lot of weapons don't hit many meaningful breakpoints with 80 vs 60 damage. There's other stats that can be more important often enough

>>575518614
When the game first came out, there was no crafting system, you'd have to get random weapons from missions or shops and what it was would be what you were stuck with until you could get something better by pure chance. Optimal weapons were next to impossible to get.

In hindsight they really fucked up with Darktide's cinematic teaser trailer. It set the wrong expectation for the tone and what kind of characters we would be playing. I'm not sure why they did this when Vermintide showed the whole cast immediately.

Dual autopistols with accuracy blessing and accuracy talent, +5s stimm talent, Desperado's cooldown reduction. 50% viscosity stimm just for cooldown reduction. Vulture's Mark is the better keystone, but aurics are relatively easy and having better cooldown economy tends to be preferable so Chemical Dependency is fine, you're effectively spamming your stimm anyway.
3x4% cooldown reduction on curios, of course.

Most prefer the reload speed blessing, and I actually agree that it makes clearing hordes easier and slightly more efficient, but accuracymaxxing lets you effectively laser beam gunners from further than it feels like you should be allowed to. Try both, see what you prefer.

>how do I deal with crushers
Melee. RPG if there's too many to melee. You can also hit them with a brittleness blessing a couple times and then pull out your gun for headshots if that's what you prefer, but you might want carapace on your gun, and probably the rending upgrade to Desperado. I think the days of rending stimm for ranged scum are unfortunately over since they murdered Pickpocket and now require you to have actual CDR in the build.
>>
>>575519161
>worse than vermintide though, it was already a solved issue
Reminder that you need a mod to block while writing in chat, a feature that iirc was day1 in vermintide 2.
>>
>>575544480
Block while chatting was a mod in VT2. It got added to the game at a later date. The mod broke some of the mission intro sequences because most players would be stationary and looking all professional standing around overlooking the map, and the players with the block while chatting mod would be standing around blocking like a bunch of dorks.
>>
>>575545060
>The mod broke some of the mission intro sequences because
the mod developer didn't correctly hook into whatever functions govern this, to stop the mod from firing*
Obvious safeguards include checking whether the player is in actual gameplay, and able to make inputs. I assume those weren't in place then.
>>
>>575545268
Technically it was actual gameplay. The map was fully loaded but enemies weren't spawned. Some people found ways to break their chains and could be seen running into the distance while their teammates where standing around waiting for the match to start. Frequently these were the speed running retards who would promptly die alone.
>>
>>575545373
>Obvious safeguards include
but aren't limited to just checking for that one specific thing, obviously. I just look down, and spit, on mod devs who don't even do a basic modicum of bug testing or debugging. I've had to fix so many broken mods that I'm never releasing because it's a huge hassle.

most weapons aren't designed to magdump into poxxers. just take recon lasgun with the infinite ammo talent points if you want to horde clear with a gun.
>>
>>575546391
whats wrong with it
>>
>>575526009
First, and sorry if it's stating the bleeding obvious, but check each weapon's moveset first and try to get a basic rotation for horde clear and single-target in mind, with some psykhanium work if need be. You can refine it later but having a basic mantra of (eg) heavy-light-light-repeat is better than button mash and pray.
Chainsword is pretty good at unga bunga horde clearance, though it might not do your carpal tunnel much good. Screwed by crushers, of course; revved-up headshots with a Bleed blessing helps a bit, but it's sticking plaster at best. I prefer the mk.4 (? The original), not a fan of the moveset of the other.
Shovel is fine, though personally it lacks that bit of extra bite when I REALLY need it. Admittedly I'm usually well and truly in the shit by then and not even the Emperor could save me, but still.
Power sword... so good, so hair-tearing. When it works, it works well (especially mk.6), but losing activation if a poxwalker so much as breathes on you is really frustrating, IF it even charges up in the first place (it's felt really finicky in that way for me lately; press the button only to hear thunk thunk thunk rather than SWISH SWISH SWISH and get laughed at by the game as it anally violates me. I must be accidentally cancelling it somehow). That said, it's got me out of more tight spots than it's dropped me in.
You've likely seen a lot of duelling sword praise; I can only say that I've seen people do amazing things with it, but I've never really got used to it.
>>
>>575542684
>use his melee weapon to generate that ammo
but you don't. desperado gives you infinite ammo so long as you can keep it going. you just need to survive between your desperados somehow.
>>
>>575547746
He obviously wants to shoot 100% of the time vs every random poxwalker, so merely shooting during desperado uptime won't even begin to cut it for him.

Turns out the servo skull can revive someone out of a daemonhost's kill animation if you tag them before the DH gets to them. You actually just get up after it finishes fondling you, and then it keeps trying to kill you lol. Both deaths were right next to a respawn so they were completely irrelevant at least.
>>
>>575548408
you get infinite reloads which means that so long as you reload before the ability runs out you spend zero ammo, might even get a bit of bonus if you started with less than a full mag

desperado scum only spends ammo in emergencies when he has to shoot without the ability
>>
>>575548734
>>575548408
also forgot to mention but killing shit that has a glowing outline (anything within 12 meters) extends the ability duration. the amount you can extend by per kill decays after like 20 seconds but you can usually get enough uptime to fully kill a typical poxxer horde even in auric. dunno about havoc.

>dunno about havoc.
Desperado is just about extinct in havoc, I haven't seen a desperado scum in months. Something like 80% of them are griefing crate retards that think the AIDS modifier justifies wasting an entire team slot on them being useless otherwise instead of just bringing a chorus zealot. The other 20% are actually good players running Rampage.
I can't gauge how good or bad it is in h40 atm because I don't have any interest in playing scum there, and nobody uses it. But I have to assume that because nobody uses it, it's probably either really hard or not very good or very likely both.

the funny thing about DH in this game is that without EFL there is zero incentive to help someone who aggros a daemonhost. just let him die and play on because the game will reduce spawns. too bad many people don't seem to understand this.
>>
I just refuse to play in matches with smite or flame pyskers. They're not fun.
>>
>>575549585
NTA but one of the psyker Soulblaze talents at least used to consider daemonhosts viable targets, which would then aggro you. I've had that happen to me multiple times, took the skill off, and had it stop happening. It also used to cause a crash in havoc when Soulblaze would jump to a ritual DH, I believe.
I forget whether that has been patched, or what patch it has been addressed in. I only know the crash no longer happens.
>>
>>575549745
Wildfire doesn't. Maybe it did in a previous patch when I wasn't playing, but it doesn't today. Perilous combustion will if you kill a elite/special next to a daemon host, but killing an elite/special next to a daemonhost with anything other than the needle pistol will aggro them anyway. You can go read kuli's guides about the details of the talent mechanics if you want.

A lot of psykers today are just really god damn fucking careless regarding where they throw their warp shit around.

I mentioned it last thread that I got a no team downs run with a desperado scum I invited into my havoc 40. I'm just going to post the scoreboard to show it does do a lot of damage and does kill things. He was using the dual autopistols. I also play scum but mainly rampage and seeing how it played it was a similar playstyle mowing down mixed hordes and running into shit and turning into a blender. Probably harder due to not having block to fall back on if you mess up a dodge.

>>
>>575547637
It's the second hardest shitter-filter in the game, I think. Maybe third? If Rolling Steel and No Man's Land are #1 and #2, anyway, but those aren't in havoc, so the crown goes to Clandestium there.
Retards frequently take outside routes and get ledged, when they could be taking inside routes.
Retards get overwhelmed by boss fights in general, and the first section frequently spawns 2-3, including inside corridors, which retards also have a lot of trouble navigating.
Retards always rush to pull the lever on the capsule section, when the correct move is to clear the entire area first, and then aggro downstairs and clear that too before starting the objective.
Retards hoard their resources after the little train section, when that exact spot is where you should be spamming all your blitzes and ammo away otherwise you get overrun since you have nowhere to retreat.

It's just too difficult for the average retard, and most teams don't bring a chorus zealot for free ledging, or the chorus zealot is too much of a retard to consistently ledge bosses.

There's nothing wrong with it, it's just disliked by shitters because it filters them. I think the map is great fun, not a big deal with a half-decent team, and the hard parts are literally just the first 12-or-so minutes so it's nowhere near as frustrating as shit like the finale to Consignment Yard (train station, press the buttons to turn off the skyfire, a boss spawns at the end) where, after you exit the airlock just before the finale, you can get boxed in by 6 gorillion infinitely reinforcing gunners if the director decides to do that, and barely make progress right at the end of the mission under threat of getting wiped. It can be a legitimate smoke grenade composition check. You're also kinda fucked if you ran low on resources (or god forbid got a death) right before then.

Yeah I was wondering that too since I know for sure they were using inferno. I think what happened was the scum was killing everything before soulblaze or whatever else could ramp their damage. I just had the opposite happen as crusher zealot, where the rumbler ogryn got retardedly inflated damage numbers because I put brittleness and Skullcrusher on everything while dealing virtually zero damage.
I don't think he deserved more than 1.6m-ish.
This is also with the skit wasting a fuckload of ammo on his stupid arc rifle, on targets the ogryn was already killing. He wasn't very smart. I'm sad that the scoreboard doesn't adequately show just how great the vet was.
>>
>>575551765
I was leveling psyker a couple weeks ago and if you get a DPS build that kills faster than inferno on a lower difficulty it just makes you superfluous. rampage scum or arc rifle skittle will just cuck you out of enemies to hit. it does get better as the difficulty goes up but the phenomenon doesn't really go away.
>>

>>575551497
>>575552507
The trick is to not be cucked to the fire stick build. Greatsword and voidblast psyker both start pulling ahead when there's another dps with direct damage in the same team, I really recommend at least changing the build when you see it ahead of the mission.
>>
>>575553056
Shit, melee pulls ahead of flame staff regardless of whether there's another player. Melee psyker is extremely dominant in auric, and any variants that happen to also build for the staff just kind of have no weakness and kill everything including infinite gunner spam. The only issue you'll run into sometimes is huge waves of armor being annoying by killing your 3 retards if you don't stagger them, because most players get carried to auric without ever learning the melee.

You just build a generic gaze + DD (or WS if you roll that way) melee psyker except you path to/through Empyric Shock and use your leftclick on a NOT flame staff. You build for leftclick. Shock staff is optional but obviously ideal.
>but it's le boring
Ok. It's a melee build, use your sword more.
>but muh flame staff
Still gets mogged in auric by a proper melee build using a different staff.

>>
>>575556035

The reality is that other builds perform better in auric than flame staff memes.

This is too "creative" even for me, just cut the bullshit and slot a finesse gun at that point.
>>

to be fair, even a pbb ripper gun build is overpowered in auric
>>
>>575556258
>melee attack speed
Completely unnecessary, you make mainly heavy attacks to kill targets that actually matter, and they barely benefit from attack speed increases
>peril cleave
Completely useless because you spend a lot of time hitting armored enemies with single target heavies that usually 1-2 tap them. Not to mention that melee cleave is complete ass.
>melee peril quell
That's the main one that leads to really high DPS in a pure melee build by edging gaze, and dropping it hurts, but you get so much ranged power out of Empyric Shock that it's worth skipping.
Alternatively you can always just go lighter on defensive nodes and pick it up anyway.
Malefic Momentum doesn't even cost you pathing, just 1 extra point, so you can pick it up if you feel like it's helping you.

>slot a finesse gun
No finesse gun outdamages staff leftclick in gaze, when it comes to sustained DPS. I think the only exception is very specifically las pistol hitting unyielding enemies in the weakspot, which often die before you can even reload, including bosses if your aim is good enough.

>>
>>575558697
>builds that could do like 70% more damage
NTA but I could say the same about every leftclick staff build that I see. I'm raping everything and invalidating every gunner in existence while also taking down bosses and hordes of armor like it's nothing, and then I'll see some moron in copeg struggle to make the staff work. Doesn't even matter what staff, all of the staves that have actual leftclick projectiles can build nearly the same and be extremely strong, the shock staff just happens to have better DPS in doing so, trading it for a rightclick that is only useful for opening up bulwarks or catching dogs.
>>
>>575558480
how is it OP when loads of better options exist? you can argue auric is too easy but flame staff does not reach the absurd levels of damage output it does in high havoc because the density scaling isn't there.

>More than fucking what?

Soulblaze should not "slowly deplete their hp" if the build is well made. It should go really fast.

>>
>>575559270
if it doesn't stand out in any way it's not OP, the game is just easy

flame staff grows relatively stronger the more shit there is on screen, and in auric there just isn't. so if you want to trivialize the game you're better off running something else or half the time you'll simply be trailing your team as they shred everything

>>
>>575559545
you seem incapable of understanding the fact that different difficulties have different metas and the entire concept of opportunity cost

in auric, there are loads of other builds that will easily outdamage the flame staff psyker and also have an easier time carrying the game. in the auric meta, the flame staff is not outstanding in any way.

people tend to bitch about the flame staff because it doesn't get cucked by the massive increased hit mass blobs of enemies in havoc like other weapons do, which leads to it being a dominant pick. but that's an issue with specifically how the way havoc scales difficulty just happens to affect the staff less. remove the particular difficulty scaling and it's just one of many strong weapons.

>there's a meta in everything.

Semantics, but you're referring to the erroneous and fictitious backronym of "most effective tactic available", which is not actually what meta refers to. It's usually shorthand for what the top usage in any given metagame is, but most used does not necessarily equal most effective, people just often conflate the two.
It does often mean what most people THINK is most effective, but again, people can be quite wrong, especially in the lower difficulties where they just don't know better.

For example, I'm fairly certain the most meta build for any havoc range is flame staff bubblecuck. Anyone that actually plays h40 and has played with enough psykers to have a large enough sample size, will know that shriek massively outperforms bubble in almost every metric. It's the most effective, but not the most played. For a long time, smoke grenades were considered off-meta memes by those who simply did not know.

Thanks for the explanation. I saw the duelling blade and it does seem strong but I won't use it because it doesn't fit aesthetically (maybe for female characters).

So I'm supposed to switch it up between normal and heavy attacks? Because whenever I try a heavy attack I take waaaayyyy too much damage so I just gave up on it. I see a horde, I just spam click my autos and dodge every 1-2 seconds once.

Revving up the chains word or electrifying up the power sword seem really cool but usually it only lasts for like 1 or 2 attacks so I usually don't bother with it.

Put on headphones, leave your voice chat, turn off whatever music you have blasting over the game audio, and listen for the audio cues. Darktide is designed in a way where random damage is supposed to never happen. You should always have time to listen for the sound and dodge or slide out of the way, and in some cases push.
The few exceptions are when the game audio chokes, or bursters bug out and either spawn completely silent, or only start playing their ticking once they round the corner. Or silent crushers. None of which are intended and are just fatshark being incompetent retarded hacks. At least audio bugs are somewhat rare-ish, and it's only crushers that are consistently silent.

havoc 40 meta builds have to make sacrifices to be survivable in that environment that are not relevant in lower difficulties. if optimizing for auric (or malice) you can afford to use weapons, talents, blessings and perks that wouldn't be viable in havoc

CSM in 40k are designed to primarily be enemies to Space Marines. And thus as soon as they go into a plot with a bunch of no named characters of a lesser faction like the Rejects are, it's typically to cull the herd.

Yes anon, a "worse" weapon can kill things faster on easy peasy difficulty. We understand that malice can be completed faster using a knife assail revolver psyker. But this does not magically make a weapon not-op. It just means the difficulty isn't high enough to show off the weapon's true power.
If you want to make a separate weapon tier list for each individual difficulty where performance is measured by completion time, that's fine. But it's not how we typically measure power level of weapons.

it does actually. get it through your thick skull that weapon power is relative to both your alternatives and your opponents. if it loses out to a fucking braced autogun in practical damage output in a specific gamemode, it's weaker than the braced autogun in that gamemode.

if swedes balance the game around malice and heresy, then their data accurately shows that the weapon is not overperforming.

I thought mobility is the dump stat? Now I watch a video where he said mobility is king. What is it now?
>>
>>575579618
Mobility (the concept) is king. Mobility as a stat is the dump stat for everyone who doesn't know better. If you don't know better, you dump mobility, and it will never be the wrong choice. There are very few weapons where taking 80% mobility is worth it, usually because another stat is less important, but this is very specific and niche and I'm not going to explain it all in one post. Also there is much skubbing from severely autistic retards that you MUST dump mobility else they throw a tantrum.
>>
>>575579618
The true answer is that a pure 76% weapon is the ideal in all cases.
>>
>>575579774
7 6?
I prefer 6 7
>>
>>575578787
At least two of those have definitely been portrayed and talked about
>>
>>575579774
Technically not too far from the truth for the relic blade, which has a breakpoint at 76% heat. 80% heat wastes 4% as it does nothing.
>>
>>575579873
Where do you put that extra 4% at then? And is it enough to make a difference in whatever stat you do put it in?
>>
>>575579932
>Where do you put that extra 4% at then?
Your dump stat, usually mobility.
>And is it enough to make a difference in whatever stat you do put it in?
No, not really.

You technically gain marginal speed boosts by taking 80% mobility and dumping damage, which is safe to do on the RB because it seems to only affect the base damage. The charged damage bonus seems to be governed by Power Output, and the overall damage loss from dumping the damage stat is actually microscopic if you only swing it while powered, which is how it's correctly used. Indeed, spamming light attacks with as much attack speed as possible is a waste of the weapon, just use an eviscerator at that point.

>>575598813
I can separate the two things just fine. The rules are made for things within the setting to interact in a sensible manner
Book OC is written with no regard for consistency or believability and only concerned with what a given author thought was cool so it can be safely disregarded as a source
Saying space marines move faster than guardsmen because it happened in a book is like saying sports agents run faster than average people because Tom Cruise ran fast in Jerry Maguire. It's nonsense

not accurate to secondary fluff (books)
not accurate to tertiary slop (the game)

a chaos marine on his own can be taken down by a couple of guardsmen, if they have the right equipment and know what to do. a company sized unit of chaos marines can take down a planetary government because they
>know when to strike
>know where to strike
>know how to strike
>can execute with absolute confidence
>have an army of shitters to back them up usually, or do some sort of mix between a decapitation strike and 5th column cult rebellion

CSM and SM can do a lot but only by using speed, aggression and violence of action. They are still vulnerable to a regular military force in an up front battle.

Chaos spawns and daemonhosts can vary in power rather significantly. A plague ogryn is stronger than a plague marine but it doesn't have the ceramite armour or the enhanced physique of an astartes. Also, ogryns don't have ten thousand years worth of combat experience. I'd say the plague marine would still be a step above in risk rating, both tactically and strategically.
>>
>>575610513
>We see him successfully getting g back up and tanking several more shots. Hes very clearly not dead.
So? If a single grenade from a regular guardsman can bring him down to the point where he's struggling to get back up on his feet then what do you think a nuke from an Ogryn will do? Or a chem grenade from the Scum? CSM are obviously not pushovers but anyone who claim they're all somehow so strong they need loyalist marines or something stronger to take them on have clearly not been exposed to much 40k at all.
>>
>>575609950
>An entire Inquisitor retinue/warband/ship would probably kill one individual marine
Inquisitorial warbands vary massively in size and scope. Some have fairly small warbands and a tiny ship like Eisenohorn. Other have an entire warship or several and potentially hundreds or thousands of men under their command. Depending on how radical the Inquisitor is with allowing sanctioned xenos and the like, they could potentially have the equivalent of a small army at their disposal backed up by extremely potent xeno tech or xeno troops.
This statement means functionally nothing. It would take at least a full tactical squad of marines boarding the a ship the size of the Mourningstar with as many men at arms present as in Grendyl's warband.
>>
>>575610976
Marines vary in power too. We're not talking about some helmetless named character showing up on the field. We're talking about nameless helmeted marines. Secondaries keep wanking off the ceramite armor but are ignornant to the fact that there are things that are TOUGHER than ceramite power armor. Such as the hides of monstrous daemonic opponents that feel no pain. From a big picture perspective a marine might be a bigger threat to the hive since he might be smart and sneaky and do something like sabotage key utilities or whatnot, but if we're dropping a no-name chaos marine into an arena with fucking daemons and telling them to have an ultimate death battle, then only a fucking retard will be voting on the marine to win.

> Marines vary in power too.
Not nearly to the same extent as Warp borne/touched entities do. Of course you have Marines who are clearly a cut above the rest even discounting protagonists and stuff but overall you can establish a baseline way easier for them way easier than you can daemons and stuff who go from being fended off by the IG to overrunning heavily fortified imperial worlds with minimal numbers depending on any numbers of factors. Daemons are not uniformly powerful in a way that you have to specify which ones you’re thinking of and under what conditions because otherwise yeah CSM might very well win, it’s not like a fucking Greater Daemon is on par with a Daemonic beast or something.

A single grenade quite literally brings him down, yes. Do yourself a favour and stop being pedantic about this. The variance for individual daemons is greater, but it is blindingly apparent that you have no clue just how WEAK space marines are on an individual level. The can readily be taken down by individual krak grenades or plasma gun shots.

The strength of space marines doesn't come from them being invincible greek gods of war. It comes from them being really fucking good at coordinating strikes with other forces. Deep striking into a position that isn't prepared for an attack, working in concert with combined arms and danger close artillery/airstrikes, etc. They excel at that kind of special forces work. But throw them into an arena and tell them to brawl and they're nothing particularly special in the grand scheme of things.

I can and have cited examples in the past of space marines taking ordinance on that level or even surpassing it (and also dodging them because they’re stupidly fast and not just immobile tanks that stand there and soak everything up) so that’s not true. The rest of your post isn’t necessarily wrong, but you’re simply downplaying their physical strengths and potency that doesn’t align with how they’re frequently portrayed in source material.

>Eisenhorn kills an Emperor's Children champion level chaos space marine in single combat
Dude, Eisenhorn beats a CSM by cheesing him with a magic book that forces him to read it when he touches it. He’s one of the most capable Inquisitors around and he still barely won. It’s made overwhelmingly clear that entire fight he’s on the backfoot to the point he can barely even parry blows from him, and this is despite messing with his mind to throw him off balance and other trickery iirc. You’re making it sound like he walked up to him and clubbed him to death. Not even sure why you’re bringing this up, obviously CSMs can be beaten and aren’t invincible and I never stated otherwise. Still not touching your warband comment because that’s not what I’m addressing (“warbands” itself is such a vague umbrella it’s obviously a weird statement to even make).

The one on the cover is the Queen of Knight World and decides to rebel against the Imperium because her Daughter was killed in the Battle of Gathalamor. When the Imperials return her body they basically start using her daughter's body as a tool to bargain for more resources from the Knight World and she snaps kind of (also she's been influenced by an agent of Chaos all along you find out at the end, but really most of it is her own idiocy thinking she could get away with such a valuable as a Knight World).

To the point however, at the funeral for the daughter, the Knight World dudes all betray the Imperials and blast the one Custode in their group immediately with a thermal lance. I mean not a terrible plan to get rid of him first since he's one of the biggest threats there if you are going to go with a stupid ass rebellion plan.

Yeah the Dawn of Fire series pretty much touches a lot of the big groups of the Imperium from top to bottom. Fairly good series, just wrapped up, kind of weird that all of it takes place before the Dark Imperium series (Plague War in Ultramar where Guilliman 1v1s Mortarion and in the process gets possessed by the Emperor and makes a direct wound into Nurgle's Garden itself in the warp). It does have ton of characters/story threads I hope get continued in other books, has a lot of setup for Abaddon getting a weapon that could kill Guilliman.

I'm back to my Horus Heresy reading now, just getting into the tragedy shit of pic related, these little wizards are probably the 'nicest' astartes out of the bunch so far in the Grand Crusade/Heresy era. Sucks that even though mortals like them nearly all the other legions loathe them as sorcerers who practice dark magic when they don't even realize how the warp works (more the Emperor's fault that anyone at all).

No I just meant literally brought him down to his knees. The point I was making is that if a single guardsman can have that effect on a chaos marine then the overwhelming firepower a group of them, let alone an inquisitorial warband can bring, is gonna be considerably more dangerous for them.

All this yapping is irrelevant anyway, 99% of engagement the CSM have is with the imperial guard and not opposing space marines or things of more potent power scaling, and we know for a fact they certainly don't win all those engagements, ergo logic dictates that anyone claiming CSM are more powerful than things we've already been fighting in Darktide is just a stupid chaos simp selectively applying lore and power scaling on their favourite characters to imply they're stronger than they really are.

>>
>>575623186
>The point I was making is that if a single guardsman can have that effect on a chaos marine then the overwhelming firepower a group of them
Well again, this is going to vastly depend on a lot of factors. Some CSMs are more durable and tanky than others, some have decently fast regen, some are fast enough that they probably wouldn’t even be touched it to begin with. Enough firepower is obviously going to kill mostly anything in the setting period, but unlike regular marines, the introduction of Chaos and particular god blessings kind of throws things for a loop, if it was just one marine against a whole group of a Inquisitors retinue with their own weapons and stuff I probably wouldn’t get on him yeah.
>ergo logic dictates that anyone claiming CSM are more powerful than things we've already been fighting in Darktide is just a stupid chaos simp
You’re going in the opposite direction and ignoring context here. The things we’ve been fighting don’t have a fixed level of power so that’s not quite accurate and in fact are in the lower need going off the quality of stuff like the daemonhosts. CSMs losing against a regiment of guardsmen numbering in the hundreds of thousands/millions/whatever does not mean they can’t be more powerful than some of the things we fight or likewise even beat them in a fight too. Again, this also depends on the kind of CSM in question. A Night Lord is not going to fight the same way a Death Guard will.

>>
I'm not paying for fucking anything as long as they keep the outrageous MTX pricing and awful cosmetic quality.
>>
>>575630295
I doubt they would. Paid gated content made onboarding new players more difficult in vermintide 2 (one of the few lessons they actually learned), thus limiting potential cosmetic purchases. Most importantly primary cosmetic revenue is generated by whales. Whales need other players to engage with in whatever mode/band they play in, even if superficially. Which requires both player access and a steady trickle of new players. Like other social games, you the non-cosmetic purchasing player are part of the product being sold to the whale. Consequently why malice/heresy are still a higher concern, that's where a good portion of the whales swim.
>>
>>575630729
I'm fine with that, whales compulsively buying cosmetics helps keep the game alive. A live game is better than a dead game.
>>
>>575631590
It barely keeps the game alive though
Space marine 2 cosmetics are cheaper AND their extra classes and content are all free and they update more often
>>
>>575614828
if we're going there, in books a team of IG commissar with a chainsword + laspistol combo together with his austic adjutant with meltagun is enough to kill individual CSM quite reliably.
>>
>>575631867
>It barely keeps the game alive though
As opposed to not selling cosmetics at all and losing that revenue stream entirely? SM2 can afford to be cheaper, they have more players because space marines and plenty of people buy the game for the single player alone. Darktide does not have those advantages, so it has to exploit the ones it does have, meaning cosmetic whales.

Yeah I get that, I'm just saying that making arguments for power scaling using named characters is pretty silly. All scaling goes out the window the instant a character is named. Commissars can and do kill marines in single combat themselves with a fairly even win rate, just don't use Ciaphas Cain as an example, that guy survived frontline combat with every enemy faction, so he's a massive outlier from what normally happens.

Space Marines are also partly warp powered due to the nature of the geneseed, it makes perfect sense that a blank would mute them too.

Went back to my daemonhost punching ogryn build for some power supply interruption event missions, only to discover that when Fatshark fixed Indomitable to always stagger they removed its ability to prime a Chaos Spawn for punching, also makes it slightly more awkward to punch daemonhosts.
It's now an enforced stagger state, good for elites as they will remain in their full knocked down stagger animation until they stand up (no more someone taps them and they pop up ready to swing). But it means monsters can't receive the followup needed to punchlock them. Daemonhost can still be done normally, but using the charge resets them letting them attack again once its finished.
Sad state of affairs in the land of big strong men.

>heavy attack damage
It's timing, and it's something you have to get a feel for. I'll go back to the mk.6 power sword as an example.
Its attacks are all pretty much horizontal sweeps (exceptions as you go deeper into some combos, but for the sake of argument), so they all work for getting a horde out of your face, but obviously heavies do more damage and will thus cleave through more enemies. Blessings affect this, but again simplicity. However, charging that heavy takes time, and if you get a love tap you can potentially get stunned out of your attack. So if you're being overwhelmed sometimes those quick, light slashes are best to just buy you some breathing room.
Speaking of heavies, you don't actually need to fully charge them, that is, hold until the animation triggers on its own. You might not get the full damage bonus, but it will get some and of course counts as a heavy attack for your combo chains. More importantly, heavy attacks have more stagger and can interrupt a dreg rager when it's in your face, so get used to them.
Activations. If you don't like the mechanic, steer WELL AWAY from the basic power swords. Without it, you may as well be using polystyrene foam. The key is to get the routine of Activate, do your attacks (Power Cycler blessing is mandatory here, it gives you extra), dodge or push to get space, reactivate (you can try to tap block to animation cancel) and repeat.
The chainsword doesn't NEED powering up in the same way unless you're aiming for massive single target damage. It will kill a dreg rager, for instance (the thrust off a block-push attack is quite safe for this), a mutant if you can get your sidestep-and-swipe timing right and it chews through Captain void shields. It just has the problem that crushers exist (for the other carapace boys, know their flak spots if you don't already; the scab rager wears a flak helmet, the mauler only has carapace head).
>>
For no other reason than I hate smiggers, I propose that smite only affect enemies armored in carapace or flak armor. Unarmored/infested enemies shouldn't be stunned. Fuck smiggers. Learn to fight poxwalkers.
>>
Does the backstab sound not play when you're playing as Hive Scum? Numerous times I have been stabbed in the ass and instantly die because no sound played.
>>
>>575666948
>What is it about rolling steel that confuses pubniggers?
It's timed. Timed missions don't work when you belong 2-3 difficulties below the one selected. The player that fails Rolling Steel is the player that causes missions to drag on for +10-15 minutes over par.

Moving and fighting at the same time is a skill most shitters never learn.
Making mistakes slows you down, shitters are at least 2 difficulties out of their depth so they constantly eat shit.
It's perfectly linear, that means a brain-fogged retard can lose his bearings and, instead of going left or right, only has the option of going backwards and getting dogged upstairs where nobody can shoot the dog off them.
The battery plugin absolutely BREAKS the pubnigger's brain because it requires you to not only backtrack (impossible) but also to stop farming the infinitely spawning reinforcements, which they are of course spawn killing, and then dying to a single unit backstabbing them 4 times because they're deaf and never learned the melee.
The mission tends to spawn a huge horde immediately after the medicae, which is a DPS check. Pubniggers have non-builds consisting exclusively of random vibes-based meme options with negative synergy, so their DPS is nonexistent.
The final hacking objective requires actually sticking together and taking out bombers and snipers. There's also 2 convenient spawn doors right there. You should be able to figure out by now what the pubnigger gravitates toward.
The boss spawns after the hack finishes. You're supposed to haul ass and just delete his shield then keep the fucker constantly on his ass by melee raping him. The pubnigger, of course, gets bogged down by 3 poxwalkers on the way there, likely goes down right as the boss spawns, and then gets ledged by the shield pop because positioning is too esoteric of a skill. I'd complain about them using guns instead of melee against the shield, but they're usually down or dead first anyway.
>>
>>575667692
while you're jittery as fuck when the serv says an enemy is hitting you, you either eat shit or doge even if there's a distance.
>>
>>575562679
>>575667079
As for attack patterns, yes, mixing them up can make life easier. You'll have to use the Inspect Weapon screen to see specifics (where it shows the damage values) but one I remember is one of the Catachan swords. If you just slash away with it, you'll get a lot of vertical strikes. They hit reasonably hard (for a light attack) and quickly, but only one target. But if you do a Heavy->Light rotation, you get two wide sweeps on repeat which will solve your poxwalker problems at a stroke, if you'll pardon the pun. And that's one of the simpler ones. Some weapons rely more on these than others; if you're surviving then that's ok, but you can make life a lot easier sometimes.

>>
>>575671159
>but helmets are all coloured for the default
The secret is that the helmets don't even match the default. They just threw darts at the wall for the helmet colors.

But one of the things that anon was talking about was that enemy damage was variable based upon how many enemies were present. If you got shanked by one slave rat when surrounded by a massive swarm, then it won't do much damage. But if you got shanked by a lone slave rat due to carelessness, then that shank would do a ton of damage.

The bloat is really retarded from a development perspective, but at least it doesn't noticeably impact the mod's performance during actual gameplay. At worst, it's marginally more overhead while using the menu, and the guy was smart enough to put this shit in a framework that all his other mods reference instead of doing the same shit 6 times over if running all of them side by side.

rolling steel always makes me seethe because it's a cakewalk if even 3 players are consistently playing for the objective, solidly doable if 2 players are covering each other but 75% of the time I am the only one doing anything objective related and it's an insane slog full of ridiculous bullshit trying to force my way through the horde with the power cells while fending off flamers and mutants and dodging snipers, and then the faggots all run off somewhere and I have to do the final objective 10% at a time because poxxers keep running up to me from the spawn door (they are all farming the other one). and the retards keep going down 3 wagons back where nobody can even get to them in time.

of course if I go down it's over, nobody is anywhere near the objective

go on heresy. don't go malice and don't go damnation. on malice you will get noobs leveling their first character with no clue where to go or what to do, going on damnation you get 9 year olds squadding up with their level 7 buddy who can't even kill a groaner with the starter weapon, heresy is the sweet spot of casual dad gamers running massively overleveled builds that just roll the game.

that or auric honestly I find that auric actually has fewer deaths than damnation because usually everyone's at least in the high 20s level wise, there is less of the egregious underleveld squadding going on.

After hearing much ado about health curios here I've been field testing some setups and it actually does help you survive shit better than full toughness, although I found the recommendations of triple health too extreme and that that actually does negatively affect your survival into shooter/stalker trash mobs. My most consistently positive experiences have been with 2health1tough and 1health1tough1stam.
>>
>>575677695
>negatively affect your survival into shooter/stalker trash mobs.
This isn't a problem when you start religiously sliding everywhere, have enough toughness generation on your build, or are a psyker and thus permanently projectile immune.
Also smoke grenades.
>>
>>575677789
Buddy, I've been sliding everywhere and in every direction for hundreds of hours. There's always at least a little bit of downtime where some extra toughness can make the difference.
>>
>>575676769
>heresy
>for a no death run
Yeah no, that is where the retards have made their nests.
>>
>>575678230
Depends on the class. Psyker basically never takes shooter chip as long as you're proactive about keeping your crits up. I've never felt like I had too little toughness on 3x health skitty, although shooters get kind of annoying in h40 I guess but I'm always in smoke so who cares. Zealot can just use an ability.
I think the only class I wouldn't want to healthmaxx on because it plain sucks, is veteran. Then there's arbitrator and ogryn who like toughness more.

My issue with it is that it isn't accurate enough to 1 tap ranged threats like gunners. It has enough damage, but the pellets don't land/hit accurately enough.

I don't use the shield pistol but shouldn't something like this be able to one-tap auric gunners at 20 meters? Aiming roughly for the throat for maximum pellet contact.
I don't know how much damage is missing, but pre-buffed with Full Bore I imagine this does the job.
>>
>>575677695
I have the opposite experience. The only thing that makes me die is either trappers or getting wan-tapped by an overhead because I missed a dodge. So when I try running more HP at the cost of toughness, the HP does nothing for me.
Occasionally i might run 1 HP curio for extra padding vs bursters, but that's about it.
>>
Am I exagerating or the vast majority of the playerbase kinda sucks? I've been playing since the dlc release and while it was fun at the start, it gets frustrating... I started playing auric but I think I'll go back to damnation not becasue I'm that bad, but because I'm not good enough to save the group every time
>>
>>575681381
>Am I exagerating or the vast majority of the playerbase kinda sucks?
Not in the slightest. Darktide players are alarmingly retarded on average. The game design is in part to blame, because you get a progress bar encouraging you to progress through the difficulties before you're actually ready to go touch them. Many retards get carried and immediately go to the next difficulty to bash their head against until they get carried through that too, and the game never once punishes them for getting corpse-dragged to the finish line.
Auric is full of malice shitters that don't belong there, expecting a carry. It gets especially egregious every time newfags join and oldfags return, none of them ready to play a difficulty above MAYBE heresy, at most.
This also isn't just noobs being noobs, it's also retards being retards with non-builds that don't do anything and can't contribute. Too many shitters could physically not deal with armor even if you held them at IRL gunpoint, and the same goes for bosses. If WD-40Reddit runs out of chordclaws because he missed half of them from getting knocked back, his boss damage instantly hits 0.

>back to damnation not becasue I'm that bad, but because I'm not good enough to save the group every time
but the problem is worse on damnation because you've got people who are underleveled for the difficulty very often. if you install the mod that shows character levels like half the time when the team wipes it's because a retard on a level 20 character that just unlocked damnation brought his friend on a level 5 character, the level 5 went down, then the level 20 went down trying to res him and the third guy went down trying to res the level 20 so now you're alone
