Only Dark Road is a full playable game. In KHUX you can only customize your player and watch the cutscenes. The only thing playable is Classic Mode (those game and watch minigames)

There was speculation because of his clothes and now the leaked Missing Link trailer kinda confirms it. Of course, things could still change with Missing Link being the missing link.

So when Dark Road got it's final story update about 4 years ago, Nomura also released this artwork with it. He then released a 2nd similar artwork for 24th anni earlier this year. You see those white lines in the background? JP fans identified that as the Miyashita Park, which is in Shibuya, one of the areas that makes up Quadratuam. You can see the park while the Black Coat Girl/Probably-Ava is talking in the newest trailer. From this, along with Xehanort's comment about wanting 14 lifetimes and Nomura comment about Xehanort being able to appear in future titles from the interview that came out at the same time, people figured he was going to show up in 4. And now we see him with umbrella in hand with Sora in the trailer.

So one is a bit weird. We knew Sigurd was going to play some role in 4. At the 20 anni event, we got a puzzle that's answer was "The voice is Sigurd" IDing him as the Narrator for both the first Missing-Link trailer and the first KH4 trailer. The dude's cloths also happen to go with his color scheme.

The other thing is, have you seen the leak for the MIssing-Link opening? Sigurd is in it, wearing his same cloths from the end of UX, conforming it's him. Some of the people who said it was him, probably already had seen the opening, so they knew for sure.

No. Real Daybreak is currently just ruins under Scala since Ephemer rebuilt over it (you can see the Clocktower underwater in the scene before the KH3 opening and the Xehanort boss fight). Scala appears to be doing fine as KH4. We know Mickey was heading there because of MoM and when Missing-Link got canceled we got a picture of Mickey exploring the place.

Also, Odin appears only to have one eye, Yen Sid has both.

Yeah, Lauriam, Elrena, Ven and Skuld didn't have the requirements for time travel. Nothing has been stated on why they were able to materialize. Theory: That's why they all have amnesia. No one with the memories was waiting, so no memories for them. Only Brain and Ephemer were exempt because Brain did have someone to remember him and Ephemer didn't successfully take off.

As for there mediums, theory again: Look where they wake up. Lauriam wakes up in a field of flowers (Marluxia's element), Elrena is in the middle of a lightning storm (Larxene), it's windy in the Keyblade Graveyard where Ventus is (what his name means and element). And if Skuld is Subject X from KH3... she uh. Best I've got is that she was found shortly after dawn (Daybreak Town) but she could have appeared during the night, and stars are a theme of hers. Everyone but Ven also happened to land in a world with a Princess of Hearts.

I think that Brain's case at least has to be some sort of a plan with Luxu. When Brain arrives in Scala, it's implied that Brain's hat acted as the medium, but how did that hat end up in Sigurd's hands? Daybreak Town was falling apart and the last two people in the lifeboat room were Brain and Luxu.

At the end we saw a quick scene of where Lauriam and Elrena ended up. Laurial ended up in Snow White and Elrena ended up in Sleeping Beauty. Nothing was shown after but there's a gap in time where they fell to darkness and got powers related to those world so some people speculate they got to know the villians of those worlds.

Lauriam learned sleeping spells and the Evil Queen has sleeping magic and might have needed an assasin to replace thr guy from the Disney movie and Maleficent has lighting and is a massive bitch like Elrena. This part is just speculation though.

We will likely get a similar # of Disney worlds as KH3. 7 full combat worlds and one minigame world. That leaves original worlds. I expect KH4 to be far better in this area since it didn’t lose a full year of dev time with an engine switch.

Quadratum should be huge. Scala ad Caelum will actually be explorable with a plot this time. Radiant Garden was cut content in KH3. Still has unfinished story threads (Subject X) so it should be included. Mysterious Tower was cut content in KH3. Why not add it back?

Mysterious Tower wouldn't work in KH3 because they tripled Sora's base movement speed and every area had to be designed around that. The choice would be to either design a space that's crossed in 250ms from a cold stop or triple the size of the tower and also make everything conveniently a perfect circle.
I don't know if it's entirely right to call it cut content, the Mysterious Tower being so small and unremarkable meant that it was probably one of the first maps actually developed to a point of being presentable and they needed a spot to film a gameplay demo to keep the sharks at bay. There's nothing about a 30-second Attraction Flow showcase video existing that indicates that the tower was planned to be playable at any point in development. This is the same as claiming that the Radiant Garden canyons were cut content for BBS because they hosted a couple prototype cutscenes for a teaser trailer 3 years before release.

I hope the true darknesses aren't just a plot device to drive conflict. By which I mean they get to actually do things and not that they were introduced in KHux solely to tell us that they were sealed and are these things we have to kill. I mean goddamn, they're already all sealed up. 4 are trapped in an electrical cord(really bad showing btw), and implied to be dead or completely lost their egos. 7 are sealed in the Foretellers. 1 in Ventus. That leaves only 1 whose fate is unknown. The darkness in Ventus at least still has an ego and apparently more darknesses can be born from people who can feel the hearts of others(at least that's what I got from the Baldr situation) but they're track record ain't too hot. Honestly considering that in the trailer it's said darkness only manifested once the concept was defined according the the KH characters star wars would be a perfect place to bring them back. Especially if there are still unversed around. Imagine it

Well the thing is outside of the actual 13 sentient darknesses, the whole 7 lights and 13 darknesses is more of a concept than an actual solid number. That's why Xehanort had more than 13 people in the organization, he needed 13 darknesses but anyone who fit the bill was a candidate. That's why even though in KH3 the organization at it's peak actually had like 16 people they were all technically fit to be a darkness. Same for the Guardians of light.

Not much. Sora is in Quadratum. So is Xehanort, after foreshadowing in Dark Road where he says he'll need a 14th life to explore a new world after using 13 to create it. Had a bit of his backstory. He was raised on the little play island by a reincarnation of the player from KHUX, to be a "child of destiny" who would defeat darkness. He was born in scala to a woman who looks like Skuld. Scala was supposed to have somehow connected to Quadratum at some point in the past. Seemingly other dead people are in Quadratum. Luxord is there too. But not much aside from that.

There hasn't been much. Melody of Memory advances the story. It's been a year, and nobody can find where Sora disappeared off to. Kairi spent that year in a coma at Radiant Garden, letting the scientists peer through her memories as she searches them herself in her dreams to try and find anything that could lead to a clue about Sora's whereabouts. She winds up facing an incarnation of Xehanort within her mind, representing her fear (cause he killed her in KH3), and that lead to a clue from a memory about Apprentice Xehanort that Sora might be in a place beyond comprehension.

Using that clue the Fairy Godmother found the Nameless Star in the Final World, who reveals she's from the "other side", a modern city called Quadratum. That's where Yozora comes from as well, and Sora is probably there. Kairi admits to Riku she knows she'd just get in the way, and wants to ask Aqua for training so she can stand besides Sora and Riku. Riku then used the Power of Waking to travel to Quadratum to go find Sora.

In UX this Darkness says it will follow Luxu. My theory is that Luxu was trying to create a vessel for it during the experiments. Subject X was too resilient so he sent her away. What if the successful subject was Isa? This explains his split personality. Isa/Saix being rather similar to the Ventus/Vanitas split. And well, Saix being a test subject was always the most popular theory for him pre-3. Plus his redemption was…weird. You can’t have a character THAT evil, give him a heel-face turn off-screen, then just go “well he’s good now.” Nah. I expect a big reveal that will recontextualize him.

I do think the other Darknesses will be looking for hosts though and I expect that to involve the various Disney villains.

Am I the only one who wanted to see more OC or Square cameos of other fantasy races after KH2? I think its a huge missed opportunity especially in KHUX/Dark Road and Missing Link when you could have more extra stuff and background characters. Barret as a tally ho assed Dwarf would be perfect but it doesn't even have to be FF cameos. Maybe sentient chocobos like Legend of Mana. More moogles (rip all those missing link moogles) and fairies. i have no idea what other races there off the top of my head.

Now that unreality seems closer to reality I doubt we'll ever see this.

Saix was a lot different from his human counterpart, to the point that Axel laments how much he changed. Even when I played BbS I was shocked that THAT was Saix’s Somebody. Isa was a normal kid who clearly had empathy for Subject X. Saix was a crazed lunatic, a psychopath, and was unable to see Xion, so he couldn’t grow a heart no matter how much he wanted to—even though he was around his best friend. Nobody really thought Saix was a normal Nobody pre-KH3. He had gold eyes and was more cold and “evil” than a typical Nobody transformation explains. We all thought he got fucked with during the experiments. Hell, that was my headcanon of him (and Axel) in KH2. Pre-3 everyone thought Saix was like that bc he got Norted. I don’t think KH NEEDS FF or other Square cameos, desu. As long as KH has FF DNA in its storytelling, it’s fine. I think we have enough OCs that we have a plot that is on a FF level now. In KH2 we just had a few OCs, their clones, and the Organization. Now we’ve got all these different factions. The biggest flaw of KH is that going to disney worlds means that you don't see any of the other characters. Even if it's not complete filler, you don't see anyone other than SDG and maybe an org member. That's 70% of the recurring cast being in the game like 30% of the time.

You know when you think about it Drive forms in KH2 eventually become overall worse than just your base form and aside from Limit form they just get used for their magic. Valor is just overall inferior to anything you can do later. Whenever you see someone playing it that understands all the gimmicks they don't use them for anything except the magics mostly.

Meanwhile in KH3 Formchanges are all fairly decent and anyone is usable but the magic sucks because they for whatever reason decided to have a formchange apply the same style of magic to everything when you use it. Not sure what the fuck they were thinking with that. It does decent damage but outside of the elemental weaknesses the most commonly used way is to stack the grand magics.

I hope they improve on that in KH4 and keep grand magic. Honestly even if 4 just played like 3 but they improved magic variey that's already an amazing system.

They certainly helped marketability wise, but Final Fantasy is in Kingdom Hearts' DNA in general. It was Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy who guided Nomura into making Kingdom Hearts what it is. Nomura originally planned to have it be a simple story where a boy defeats a witch before Sakaguchi told Nomura that it wasn't a good idea and to make a story that Final Fantasy fans would like.

There's a bit of unintended poetry in KH/KHII/BBS where the combat systems becomes less of an RPG and more of an ARPG over the chronology of the games. KH as a baseline is pretty in the middle. Lots of menuing and paying attention to small stat upgrades, but also a wide variety of combat modifiers for the action combat. KHII ramps the combat up, but also tones down the stat obsession by usually making them easier to improve or less vital to maximize. 1 extra str/def/magic is never as important in II as it was in 1.
Then, BBS turns is back the other way. 1 extra point in a stat can mean a lot in BBS, maybe as much or more than in KH besides magic maybe, and the combat has been entirely stripped of the modifiers and replaced with commands, which are the most committal options of the 3 games because they're long drawn out attacks with little to no i-frames to protect you during them.

There are some unique abilities tied to equipment, but they're all passives, which is for the best since fights would be designed around base Sora's kit anyway.

My favorite little anecdote about KH is probably how none of the writers really relate to the little kid protagonists. Nomura has gone on record that he doesn’t relate to Sora and self-inserts into Master Xehanort and the villains. He also said his favorite characters are Luxord and Xigbar, the old men. Kanemaki wrote the novels and the amount of internal monologue she gave Axel over Roxas and Xion is incredible.

And even in the environment of Kingdom Hearts, there are good and bad combat abilities, and good and bad scenarios to have certain abilities on and certain abilities off. I mean, if anything, the offensive combat abilities are the one catagory of combat abilities that should be pick and choose.
Movement should be standardized so that you can build level geometry around those constraints, but there's already such an immense choice of offense, there's really and honestly no reason not to add secrets when you already don't need all or even most abilities to be a menace to the heartless.
And to beleaguer the point, command deck commands basically doing this already, and provide ample opportunity for interesting attack choices, even though I don't think they do it nearly as well as they could have done.
