I think the problem with squids is that they tried to make them into a mix of Bots and bugs, so they have horde mechanics and also shooting mechanics but it kind of didn't really work out very well. Honestly, if I was in charge of Arrowhead I would add traitor infantry or some shit like that so the horde of zombies forces you to abandon your cover and then you get sprayed with bullets by their ranged infantry.Also give them tanks, literally make them into the traitor guard

Typical co op balancing cannot be applied to HD2 because HD2 does not play like Typical co op horde shooters (l4d, Payday 2, Darktide, etc). As HD2 is a semi open world, objective based game. Rather than a linear A to B objective based game like the games I mentioned.In addition. Balance that worked in Helldivers 1, cannot be applied to Helldivers 2. Because in HD1, every player was on the same screen, making Co-op mandatory. Consequently, solo play and agency were not possible in Typical co op scenarios.In Helldivers 2, players are not forced to work together. Each player is generally free to their own devices. Arrowhead does not, or cannot, understand that players will very rarely willingly cooperate with each other. They must be forced to (HD1), or mechanics must be designed in a way that does not inhibit player agency (team reload is an excellent example of this, as no one wants to be the backpack bitch). Every issue in balance and difficulty can be traced to Arrowheads inability to connect with, empathize, or understand their own playerbase. Which is amazing, considering they have been making the same kind of game since Magicka, so you'd think they'd learn by now.

This mission was weird because the ICBM got bugged at the locks at 2/4, then the rest of the team went to check and even complete the squid objective, the ICBM launches by itself without me doing anything. Every gun in the game needs less ammo. You get resupply every three minutes, and on D10 you should be calling that in on cooldown, but people have so much ammo that you can ignore the resupply and use ammo pickups from the map. Having less ammo would force players to stick together for resupply. (most of the things people complain about are actually good because they punish solodiving/enforced teamplay).

The demo force question could be answered for good by making it function based on a "demolition HP bar" instead of determining if the object will be destroyed instantly or not at all. That way, the bolt pistol could be set to damage and destroy bug holes and fabricators but you must shoot them multiple times to collapse them, while a grenade would do it in one. As a side benefit this would allow titan bug holes to be closed in a less restrictive manner as well.
