Mark your calendars! The second batch of our world famous game jam is on the way!
>Link:
https://itch.io/jam/v3expos-world-famous-game-jam-2
>When:
October 4th-10th
Theme and modifiers will be announced October 3rd!

For those uninitiated, our jam puts you into a frenzy making a game with our given prompt/theme in the span of one week. The twist? The week before there's a community vote on required game mechanics to be implemented. It was a lot of fun and you can check it out here: https://itch.io/jam/v3jam

Anyways, leave some suggestions for game mechanics we can vote on and we'll see you then!

>inb4 all soulslikes are 3D Zelda clones
Okay, but where are all the Majora's Mask clones?
Soulslikes focus too much on combat to be worthy of being called a 3D Zelda clone.

You know, emphasis on platforming, story, exploration and puzzles.
MM really felt like playing an anime with how much personality the many characters in that game had.

Once I have a working GUI-PANEL prototype, I'll post more updates. Right now I'm digging through Doom 3, breaking down its systems to understand how everything is structured, then replicating the underlying functionality before expanding on it. The focus isn't to copy features one for one, but to understand the architecture behind them and build something that's cleaner, more modular, and easier to extend.

The end goal is a library of reusable Func components that can be dropped into any gameplay system without rewriting the same logic. Every major interactive world object should be driven by its own dedicated Controller, whether that's a GUI-PANEL Controller, Door Controller, Lift Controller, Power Controller, Lighting Controller, Enemy Controller, Health Station Controller, Cabinet Controller, or any future interactive system. Each Func should remain modular, with clear responsibilities and minimal dependencies, so larger gameplay features can be assembled from reusable building blocks instead of hardcoded, one-off implementations.

That should make expanding the project significantly easier over time, since adding new interactive objects becomes a matter of composing existing Func components rather than creating entirely new systems from scratch.

I will return.

AI is so black pilling, it used to be that gamedev and software dev was a path to wealth for people who came from poor families because instead of nepotism/networking, merit mattered, all you needed was a cheap computer to make something, now AI is replacing that skill and lets anyone with an idea execute it.
