I finnished 4 the other day and I liked it alot. IMO it did peak at the blasted/infernal tokyo and the law and chaos endings were shit. allthough I guess that is the point of it. also half the side quests had you wandering around for an hour unless you used a guide. I started playing 4A right after and so far they improved everything gameplaywise at the expense of making the story worse. i've come to appreciate if...'s story lens more after seeing it was meant to be a mystery. the story is mostly told through crumbs in all routes besides reiko's at the end. also, even with reiko's route, you're still meant to piece things together yourself. the devs didn't want to give a straight takeaway for the story because it's a mystery type story.you figure it out on your own and construct your own interpretation.

You can play the game the same way as the original and get the original endings if you explicitly reject whatever the remake girl wants you to do.If you do want to do the redux endings though, you have to go through a separate series of dungeons and a few other minor things, but it's optional. The main thing that makes redux suck to me is the new artstyle and presentation of the game. I'd still play it over the original due to the gameplay and 3d visual boosts. It's kind of like playing Etrian Odyssey 2 and then playing Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold with the new story, which some people didn't like, but the 3d visuals were better and it had better gameplay.
I think Redux is weird to me because the add-on content is one of the WORST implemented add-on that Atlus has ever made but it's not really "offensive". Like it's so fucking weird. Quality wise, it's terrible but you can just roll your eyes and go through it. I think what really helps is that Alex is a fucking edgelord while Marie is an annoying tsundere cunt.
Finished SMT4 yesterday with a magic Flynn. Game was pretty easy outside of early stages. Now starting SMT4 Apocalypse on War (hard). Have no idea how difficult it's going to be or how balanced this game is. Tensions are rising, everyone's going through some extreme shit, and the teamwork that makes the dream work seems to be fraying at the edges. Yukari's got beef with both Mitsuru and Akihiko, Akihiko's got some kind of baggage with a former squad member, Junpei's got one sided beef with me, and Fuuka has traditional asian parents who want her to become a rich lawyer doctor by the age of 18. Voice acting has also been getting progressively better as the game goes on and the entire sequence felt like a season finale. holy shit, poor Yukari. Not only is she cleaning up after what killed her father, she's got to read what are presumably his notes that were left behind in Tartarus whenever we make progress. And on top of that her mother became at best a deadbeat and at worst she An Hero'd.I think the only serious question I have now is based on the only bit of story I knew preemptively. Still can't see why Ikutski betrays us yet, he's supremely likeable and I haven't seen any real hints outside of his extreme fascination with shadows which I mean let's be fair if you were studying wild shit like this you'd be excited too.
