It kinda is, never before have threads died so often, it was a rare occurrence. It all went downhill some time after S2 was released. Before that there was hype, waiting for news and discussing trailers, some regular shitflinging, it was stable and comfy. There were far more posters here, I remember that we were doing a demographic census at some point and there were several dozen people in total who self-reported, mostly burgers and slavs, so there was always someone here to bump the thread. And now it is what it is.

/sg/ never had more than a handful of posts per hour and used to be just fine having severap hour breaks between posts during the dead timezones. It's entirely disingenous to argue the thread is deader than before because the posters are gone while it's undeniably being actively killed by gacha.

Recently started playing Stalker Anomaly. Is it supposed to feel kinda empty? Love the random quest system, the gunplay is also very good, but the Living Legend questline (which is the only unique one I've seen so far) is barely more than a series of do this do thats. Is it worth playing the original games for better story content or is this as good as it gets? I'm in Zaton at the moment, working to get more hints on Strelok.
>>
>>576521612
That's everything surrounding Stalker 2 and why you can't(and nobody wants to) talk about it here. People are dead set on comparing it to 20 years of hopium of what it could have been like if that were actually possible it wouldn't have happened in 2012, or just hate it because it's tangled with modern politics. Its flawed FOR SURE but there's a lot of things i actually like about Stalker 2 that people just take for granted.

>>576535113
Anomaly is not something you should touch before playing the original games because it's a freeplay mod where the entire point is revisiting the locations and doing the fun things without any story constraints. You will spoil yourself from a lot of the games' best moments by seeing them out of context.
>>
>>576535113
Definitely play the trilogy before touching any mod like that. Vanilla first always.
>>
>>576535432
I figured as much, after the whole brainscorcher plot turned out to be just one flick of a lever and a 20 minute dungeon crawl.
The gameplay of the originals looks very dated to me and I'm a sucker for Anomaly's weighty gunplay, but maybe I'll give it a try.

The gameplay is extremely addictive. Most AAA games can't rival the feeling my Spas-12 creates when it goes woom woom. Feels like canon shots. Played it for four days straight, did barely anything else. I'm now in Pripyat, found Strelok and entering Lab X8.

Would you guys recommend I start with SoC for the originals? I heard Clear Skies is supposed to be garbage. I mostly care about the story quality, since I already have SA for killer gameplay.
>>
>>576537091
There's mods that make the gunplay better in the originals, though the thing is that they were designed around much more bullet sponging and magdumping so the amount of enemies you face feels drastically different. Sometimes it's just broken without extensive changes

>>576549630
look at this>>576502969 there's a few mods that are "vanilla plus" that can get the gunplay in the older games closer to anomaly, but as always your mileage may vary

I'm a gold mouth dawg, definition of the South
Ain't no quarters, ain't no halves, just some wholes in 'dis house
Ain't no bitch, it ain't no bed, it ain't no clothes in dis house
It's a drought, and my price will make yo eyes pop out
I can't neva count my stash 'cause I always loose count
I can't neva keep no bitch 'cause I put them hoes out
I was corner store and in the motel in it, selling it
You can check my rap sheet, its numerous felonies
I took twenty-three stacks, and bought some jet skis
Have pity for the cop who gotta arrest me
A front street, jump street, then jump out, it's a track meet
Use to have a ten-speed, now I got a Bentley

the WHAT. Nigga play IWP if you want some sralker action with proper modernized gunplay.

Vanilla gunplay is also overhated. Making the guns too accurate and powerful, what far too many mods do, makes the games more dull and removes the progression aspect, imo.

CS is the buggiest entry, but I'd still give it a try. It has the most combat in it, if you do the faction war stuff. I finished it vanilla just fine, but you might want to get SRP, if you really want to include a bugfix mod

I don’t like how the CNPP area has been cordoned off by international forces. It makes the Zone feel rigid as fuck. Where’s the free movement.
It unironically makes the expansion area feel very artificial because it basically illustrates «this is the expansion zone, so it’s locked away from the main game area».

Ukraine is fighting against Russia, not the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991. That they dilute their own historical past in favor of historical revisionism and censorship due to circumstances beyond national control is misguided at best. To be nationalistic is fine, but this is defacement of a territory with actual historical value and undeniable roots. To represent Chernobyl as anything other than a Soviet initiative is dangerous. Not only does it alter the past to fit a current contemporary attitude and narrative, it robs the past both of its narrative power and as a tool serving a cautionary tale of culturalist repression and statist dominance. Chernobyl was Soviet built, there is no way around it, it was ordered built by the Soviet Ministry of Energy and Electrification, it was supposed to be the apex of Soviet engineering and culture, a fantastic Atomgrad built to attract the Soviet Union's brightest minds, and thus the Soviet council chose a two-part langauge solution that honored both Ukrainian and Soviet cultural importance. To represent Chernobyl purely as a Ukrainian product is misattribution of history and lessens the lessons around statist dogma and repression. It is to deny a historical place its rightful historical past.

I liked that Stalker 2 didn't take inspiration from Analmemery featuring 100 types of soaked underwear, and kept things pretty vanilla

Good morning my friend. Upon closer inspection to your image I see a monument with the words "Glory to Soviet Science".
We clearly cannot have this slogan. It is anti-ukrainian and is not a proper display of values for our modern audience.
We are not Soviet, thankfully. We are Ukrainian.
The left side of the image has presumably a GAZ and two ZIL trucks.
This is bad. These are S*viet era vehicles.
According to the current rhetoric, this is against guidelines.
In fact, the only relatively realistic design here is the monument, as it evokes Crimea's Yevpatoria center's dome design. However, this is still Soviet Ukraine style, so it must be removed.
The gun and the gear are okay, but I would like a closer look, as they are probably older reserve weapon from the U**R.
To be transparent: we are in 2026. War has come to Ukraine. It is a desolate political situation. As you may understand, we remove these symbols because they are remnants of a country that oppressed and terrorized our own.
But we will preserve historical accuracy in other ways.
Update 2.0 is coming on the 20th of August. See you in a couple weeks, stalkers!

Yes, the trailer still uses software lumen, you can see it from extremely blurry and ghostly puddle reflections.
My cope is that they are making these trailers on the version without the engine upgrade to not spoil the announcement of "enhanced visuals" in the new version.

they look(ed) kinda primitive or cheap, when I fired up the patch for the first time. I don't know how to rephrase it, but they just looked like a png floating around, but it's not as bad as looking at it earlier. It's a small DLC which is free for people who bought the ultimate edition. Why would you expect any massive additions?
It probably will be
1 new mutant
1 new regular anomaly
1 new arch anomaly
1 new artifact
1 new weapon of each type:
1 new pistol
1 new shotgun
1 new automatic riffle

That sounds about right. If it costs more than $10 I am installing CreamAPI to unlock the DLC on steam for free.

>>
>>576613440
I think my main problem is that they tried to make it so the zone was clearly 10 years ahead in time from SoC but they didn't add things that would naturally flow from that, if the pemise is that
>the zone is now known by the whole world
>stalkers are now regulated and the old ideological factions gave way to new ones compromised by other interests
>the zone is mostly "colonized" with a big lab complex and big walls sectioning off areas and a non-Ukrainian army taking care of the perimeter
So we should be seeing a steady flow of stuff like better food, better weapons and armor and equipment, maybe actual vehicles to traverse through some less dangerous roads, and communication arrays, and stalkers that are doing more things than milling around looking for decades-old loot. For example there would be a bigger business surrounding documenting the zone for curious outsiders, and bandits growing very large thanks to how easy it is to disappear stolen and illicit things in there.

As far as items themselves go, there should have been at LEAST all the pistols from the original games, one beretta, one sig, one walther, the deagle, the fort-12 OR 15, the hi-power, because the variety with them is pretty dire right now. As for other stuff, a couple more medical items like tourniquets and random painkillers and antibiotics (insert fent joke here),and just cheap shit food you can expect people to carry everywhere, like ramen chicken noodles and instant coffee.

The "muh soviet symbolinos" fags never had to live with, and try to unfuck the disastrous consequences of the soviet union / russians for over 35 years already, and God knows how many more. So how fucking dare you complain about a UKRAINIAN studio making a game for UKRAINIANS first and foremost, not want to annoy the audience by throwing endless soviet shit in their faces. It sounds completely preposterous to me that there are those who would want that shit in the first place.

the chernobyl disaster zone is symbolic of everything wrong with the soviet union, the corruption, the lies, the abuse and disregard for human life, and the incompetence. Chernobyl isn't a monument to Ukraine, it's a monument to Ukraine freeing itself FROM the soviets, removing the symbols is stupid because it's like removing nazi symbols from Auschwitz, you're not supposed to find it a cool place to be proud of, it's a place of great shame and sorrow.

You have to be incredibly dense not to realize the entire story of STALKER is an allegory to the fall of the soviet union and the post-soviet world.

The group = secret society of technocrats aspiring to remove "greed" and "hate" from mankind to create an utopia by means of unethical science
C-Con = worldwide mind control and reality altering conspiracy using technology they can't understand or control
The zone = nature refusing to bend to the designs of men and instead creating terrible horror and suffering in response, Pandora's box being opened
Stalkers = men who live with the consequences of the zones' creation only concerned with their own survival, the individualistic answer to the ultimate form of collectivism
Duty = the militant and brutish red-and-black answer of trying to overcome through sheer strength and discipline
Freedom = the naive and idealistic answer to the zone of trying to convince it to be good and living with it instead, clad in German colors
Bandits and Mercenaries = the cynical and pessimistic answer of selfishly profiting from the zone without caring for the consequences because it can't be helped
Monolith = the true believers of the false idol of the C-con, they are soothed and comforted by lies that don't mean anything coming to them from an unknown place
>>

That's something else i really love about the whole setting, When you read how the pseudo sicence gibberish behind the zone is described it's all this vaguely esoteric new age speak that has a layer of disconnect from the objective perception of it which says there's always a denial of what it is and what it means. If the Noosphere is the informational field of the earth and everything that is in mankinds' thoughts and feelings is in it, and it leaks onto the physical world and all we see is literal horrors, mutation, anomalies, contamination, restless spirits and hellish sights of loss and decay, what does it say? what does it actually say about humanity? The ending sums it up really well, Strelok doesn't get to know whether what he did was the right thing, he doesn't get a nice and tight resolution or full answers, he is presented with a choice and he has to fllow through with it blindly because there's no turning back.

It's why for all it's flaws i do like some of the implications of the Stalker 2 plot because it says the noosphere might not actually be real and the shinning zone is a straight up alternate dimension overlaid with ours, and it wants to consume it instead of coexist, and the "bad" ending with the group taking over the world might be the lesser evil, I like to compare some of the Stalker 2 endings with the Deus Ex endings in that they're all Faustian bargains.

Let me explain it this way - Suppose the Chinese occupied your country, making it an integral part of China and installed a totalitarian system for 70 years. That systems kills tens of millions of Americans, including part of your family, before falling apart. Suppose they also cause a giant technogenic disaster during that time, rendering a part of your country uninhabitable due to pollution and everything there untouchable. You try to start anew, but it's hard, and is made harder by the same China under a different leadership and flag coming back for round two.

OG Stalker 2 art is so fascinating because they really went so hard into the communist eastern Russian-influenced aesthetics. Like, they had no qualms about making the games be like that, there was no nationalism or ""russophobia"" or whatever. Literally the only thing that has changed between their 2012 view of politics in their games vs. the 2026 view is the rusniggers invading them and killing off their people. I always install Mags redux for Anomaly and it just reminds me of how stupid it is that they go in the main inventory instead of the suit slots along with the artifacts and gadgets, but it's more the fact that there's so few slots or space for slots in that space in the default CoP UI that you couldn't actually work it that way. Using the old belt system would be the most optimal solution, you could have a couple dozen spaces for shit to put on pockets and pouches and you could have a little bit of extra inventory management with ammo and artifacts competing for them.
>>
>>576665579
The version of mags redux that I use adds suit-specific mag slots. The mags are shown in the main inventory but technically they are in the suit slots. There's also a toggle to show them on your HUD.
As for the question of why this system isn't used more often: because the majority of stalker players are casuals.

I've had intrusive thoughts about what the perfect balance of variety and bloat is regarding the weapon choices in stalker ever since i saw they made a fucking PKM in 7.62x39. I think i've narrowed it to "every weapon type should have no less than 4 weapons and no more than 16" and "every weapon type should have no less than 2 calibers and no more than 6", so i've pegged it down to
>Pistols and SMG
9x18mak
9x19para
5.7x28
45acp
.357magnum
>Shotgun
12ga
4ga (for the KS-23 alone)
>Assault Rifle
7.62x39
5.45x39
5.56x45
9x39
7.62x35(300blk)(mostly conversion upgrades from 5.56)
>Battle Rifle/Sniper/LMG
7.62x51
7.62x54r
.30-06
.50 BMG
12.7x108
>>
>>576692030
Shotguns should also have slugs.
in any case I'm probably not the man to comment as for me there's no such thing as weapon bloat. the more /k/ommandofaggotry the better.
>>
>>576692030
Which guns would you want put in/ kept
>>
>>576693201
I had envisioned basically every gun that was in CoP + some of Stalker 2's additions, and some no brainer ones, for example there should be "a" Glock but not in 9mm because that's too generic, so the glock 21 for a third 45ACP option. I'd swap the DP-12 which is dumb with the KSG which is less dumb, as for rifles i'd totally have some really curious AKs to pad out each caliber, example

>7.62x39
Zastava M92
Zastava M76
AMD-65
Type 56-2
PM md 63 (Romanian dong AK)

>5.45x39
AKS-74N
AKS-74UN
AK-12
A-545
AN-94
Malyuk

And since you could have a lot of rifles have the option to swap calibers (a staple of stalker at this point) you get a lot more variety since a lot of gun models are just "gun but other caliber", that'd be basically the entire reason to have 300blk in game.

>>576693068
My rationale is that weapon bloat happens when you have too many guns that look the same and feel the same and are named almost the same and you get no "oh neat" feel when you find one in game. Like Anomaly/Gamma have a lot of Gun(Alternate), Gun(camouflaged) going on and they suck, they're just ugly textures with an extra % to a stat nobody really notices. In-lore, it's also too much when you break the feeling that these are guns either brought in to do real work with or because they were actually available in that part of the world at that particular time, like it's an alternate reality but there's no fucking timeline in which someone who can afford a fucking gyrojet decides to bring it to a shithole like the zone. It has to be useful for something, either mutant hunting or combat or at just being a last resort gun that some ecologist dweeb can use.

One thing I enjoyed about stalker is the inclusion of "weird guns' like the F2000, also weird bits of alt-hist lore like the sa80 being pumped into the zone because the UK decommissioned it early and maybe they intentionally dumping it in the zone. So what is the dlc anyway? Is it a standalone story path, or does it also add new things to do in the base game? When do you access it? Mid game? End game? VOA is easier than SOP, less refined and fewer quests but the story is pretty much the same with few differences. I think they are the same developers too.

>When do you access it? Mid game? End game?
From what I've heard, after SIRCAA and before Point of No Return.
>>
>>576787176
VOA is a bit more sparse than SOP. Far less running back and forth but some of the quests are different. It's also based on an older version of OLR so it has less item/stalker density and some of the buildings have fucked up collision problems. Still worth checking out but you might overdose on the buildo flavor if you play it right after SOP.

No idea, but it's guarded by the (not) military and it's heavily fortified.
My guess is that the wall was constructed after Duty, Ward and whatever tried to dismantle the brain scorcher. It's all retarded anyway. It should have been completely open. CoP was all about figuring out why military helicopters were crashing in the Zone and you're telling me they brought construction crews in there without issues? I hate everything.
>>
>>576819749
The iron forest and cpp is there, of course there is content. That's kinda the point of the dlc too. Which is why the wall should be removed as a perimeter once dlc content is added.

nigger the game came out a year ago, the DLC was not developed, and therefore the DLC content did not exist, does not exist in the game in it's current state, and removing the wall that blocks you from entering this area does nothing, because there is nothing in the area because the content is not in the fucking game yet
in case you need MORE explanation somehow, when the DLC launches in a few weeks, there will be a patch; in that patch will be the dlc content
BECAUSE IT'S NOT IN THE FUCKING GAME YET
it will be in the game on 20 Aug, but it's not in the game NOW, so there is nothing to access and the wall doesn't actually stop you from accessing this content BECAUSE IT DOESN'T EXIST IN THE GAME YET
>>
>>576823090
The DLC should remove the wall because content is added with the DLC. This has been done in other games that have previously relegated Zones to DLC.

Assuming Cost of Hope includes some A-Life improvements, how much would you recommend modding it for a first playthrough?
Shay's Living Zone and Maklane's Better Gunfights still required?
Might even try it with gyro aim on my Steam Controller
>>
>>576881385
I played for maybe 30 hours or so on launch then dropped it cause of the utter disappointment in A-life and the potential gamebreaking bug(s) after a certain point in the story that I didn't want to get past.
Picked it up again with the announcement of the DLC and 2.0 and added the Better Ballistics (core) mod and another that increases the value of anomalies (anywhere from 2x to 100x depending on the pak file you want to use) and have been having a lot of fun
The Better Balistics mod also has a Redux version that makes a ton more balance changes to the game but requires a new save cause it basically revamps the whole game. That's probably the way I'd play it if I started over, not 100% sure about a first playthrough but probably would prefer that to vanilla (I initially didn't like that mutants felt bullet spongy so I used a mod to reduce mutant hp but that made it kinda easy and the better ballistics mod seems to strike a better balance)
Might try the Living Zone mod cause it has been feeling pretty dead lately coming back to it, feels like I can basically just run around from place to place and never really worry about anything

My playtime in OLR SOP would probably be cut in half if you could regen stamina while walking or if there was an artifact that boosted endurance without starving you to death in seconds. Artifacts are great for making money but pretty useless to actually use in this mod.

IWP has won me over. The mod has beautiful realism, a charming naturality that speaks to the subtle taste of the authros, a deep and rich progression system what has been carefully crafted and rivals even the Clear Sky. The author has my respect and can hold his head high as an honoary Slav. I can warmly recomemend the IWP as essential STALKER-core alongside I.W.A., A.R.E.A., C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E, R.E.D.U.X., R.E.B.O.R.N., S.H.O.K.E.R.

i have this idea in mind for the last few days, but im unsure if someone would like this idea

stalker soc but with permadeath, no saving and no loading, however, when you die, instead of saying the 'lost to the zone' screen, it says your orverall statistics like rank in the leaderboards, money, time played, pda points, kills and etc, and players could share their best run on teh interwebz for a little competition
>>
>>577007080
That'd be pretty cool. Without saving though, the most threatening anomaly in your path would be the game engine itself.
>>
>>577011754
true, hmm perhaps a campfire-only saving or let the autosave per level be the only saves the player can rely on, to mitigate loadscumming a bit
>>
>>577011931
If you had the capability, a system where players had to sacrifice artifacts to save would be cool. There's no way of getting around the instability of the game but allowing saves will open up its own can of worms (backup save spam).

It would at least be cool to have the makeshift tombstones appear where players died. Show their loadout, stats, cause of death etc.

I'm so tired bros. What confuses me is that people used to say Chernobyl and Pripyat are monuments to the failures of the Soviet Union and their incompetence, but now Ukraine wants to say "that big fuck up was all us right here, not those soviets". Very weird stance to suddenly take.

It’s tied to their newly implemented censorship law I believe, but it doesn’t excuse it. It is effectively erasure of a historical past in favor of a narrative that never had historical precedence. It is quite delusional.
Soviet sympathy in modernity is one thing. History is entirely another. Simply depicting Soviet symbolism at a historical site is not glorification.
>>
>>577026230
>Simply depicting Soviet symbolism at a historical site is not glorification.
To be fair, a lot of Soviet symbolism is propaganda in and of itself. That's why Poland is happily dismantling any Soviet monument of "brave Red Army soldiers liberating Poland" because, motherfucker, they kinda remember it differently.
Poland also wanted to raze the Palace of Culture and Science - known in Warsaw as Stalin's penis to the ground, but the building stayed and Poles simply built the shitton of skyscrapers around it that dwarf it in size, so that's Russia's penis is no longer the biggest.

The key part why i used to adore the franchise and it's visual language had to deal with the area being a time capsule to a culture, world and catastrophe that no longer exists and feels alien. It's also why i think adding decidedly Ukrainian nationalistic imagery and revisionism feels like such a blow to what made the game and it's world unique. If you have to abide to some ass backwards censorship law or something else, simply make the environments neutral in imagery. Stalker shouldn't be a political and societal bludgeoning tool.

>Feelings are irrelevant in the grand scale of time.
Same goes for nationalism. Countries have reformed, collapsed and been born anew even in the time span of our current century so the only thing everyone has in common is their historical and cultural heritage. Both of which usually cannot be erased in the span of a simple war or territorial changes. If the Swedes didn't manage to stamp out their ugric neighbors cultural heritage in 800 years of them being a peasant tax & draft farm with aristocratic and cultural occupation, then i doubt nations with even closer hereditary ties will ever rid themselves of their larger heritage. It's why the current political and military debate feels so pointless. Even if you dissolved Russia on the spot, you'd still be left with a culture that is inherently Russian with a population that still culturally identifies as Russian. The same logic applies in reverse too, which is even more ironic considering how much certain forces in Ukraine try to escape that realization.

Never played it but what makes these mods fun is the hobo phase. If you remove that, it would just get boring unless there are some interesting quests in them.

Imagine if there was a way to make npcs have limited ammo and shitty equipment just like the player. Now that would make it fair. And instead of npc spamming gun fight, they'd fight intelligently and escape if they couldn't win.
>>

I just realized "Spark" is just a watered down Monolith and the "shining zone" is just the "~*democratic socialism*~" version of the Monoliths' stalinist marxism.

Stalker 2 has a lot of good ideas and it doesn't do a good job at presenting almost any of them.
>>
>>577089458
It's lacking worst of all since you barely spend any time with any major factions. Duty and Freedom are now just soulless background characters.
>>
>>577076378
what point?
>>
>>577091962
that GAMMA is for faggot retard heckin' hardcore survival enjoyers and not traditional STALKER fans.
>>
>>577090030
I think the metanarrative is that the old factions were ideologically "pure" and their decline was a natural result of the zone itself undoing their hubris and fanaticism, while their new replacements (Spark and Ward) are expressions of the same general concept but warped. While Duty were extreme and uncompromising to the point it almost destroyed them, their pragmatic side made them enable stalkers to fuck around in the zone even against their strict goals, and in the end they were just doing the military's job for them. Ward is even more pragmatic being the zones' self appointed cops, but they're all but cucked to the perimeter forces and the institute, even doing their dirty work.

Meanwhile, Freedom believed in the openness of the zone in the most ambiguous way possible and they essentially just defined themselves by what they opposed and what they wanted to get away with doing unmolested(like true lolberts), and yet they still operated with a paramilitary structure and kept the up the barrier among other things as literal boundaries within the zone Spark takes the wishy washy nature of freedom and adds a pie in the sky goal to unlock "the shinning zone" which is just a poorly understood and downright comedically optimistic way of being soul-trapped by the noosphere into a nightmare alternate dimension of the zone forever, essentially being fooled into doing the bidding of the zone without any mind control or magic wish granting rock at the end, only being brain damaged utopians.

"Undercooked" is Stalker 2's slogan but i don't think people really examine what it means story-wise more than gameplay-wise. The rough concept is pretty good, just botched hard.

I could try to implement base ZRP with no extra additions to the mod to at least make it somewhat stable, it's better than nothing

About the makeshift tombstone mechanic, that sounds super cool, i have no idea how it could be implemented exactly (imagine someone making a makeshift tombstone in a Xlab), but it's really nice, it reminds me of dark souls, even though i never played any of them

I had another thought, you can ask some traders to save your game, however it costs money, the closer the trader is to the north, the more expensive it is, so players can make a decision to go to all the way to Cordon to meet Sidorovich to save their game or decide to save at Lukash's for example, though the artifact saving mechanic could be good, i dont know how it could be balanced since artifacts in SoC are quite abundant, like the tunnel to Yantar in Wild Territory

I think if anyone were to play the mod they'd be understanding of Stalker's unstable nature but ZRP would still be appreciated.
I have no knowledge on the logistics of what you're trying to build so the tombstone idea could be a complete pipe dream. The Souls games did come to mind but also since the makeshift cross/gasmask is already so prevalent in the series.
Paying traders to save your game would probably work out better while still being semi immersive. I forgot how easy it is to stock up on artifacts in SOC. It'd be far less cheesable to pay traders since you'd have to risk making loot runs to build up rubles too. You could add some weight to the ranking so that less saves or a 'no save run' would place someone higher in ranking.
>>
>>577124793
yeah, they didnt seem to make a difference
however adding some UI mods through jgsme actually made it much more stable, now it might crash every 2 hours or so, rather than every 5minutes
>>
Do you think love can bloom in The Zone?
>>
>>577094040
I fully understood the concept, it still just feels like a cop out that we pretty much have absolutely no dealings with either faction. The Duty base is utterly boring since there's really only one quest there and it disappears if you don't activate it as soon as you discover the place. I can't even remember if Freedom has anything to do at all.

As people always point out, there is a painful lack of side quests in the game and when you look at a map and compare it to progression of the plot, you notice that all the side quests are at the very start of the game and taper off to maybe 1 or 2 (or none) by the latter half of the game. My best guess is that Freedom and Duty didn't have no quests for plot reasons, they simply just had no quests because the game is undercooked.

AK-74M or AKS-74U?
Sorry for the graphics, I was playing on my old laptop.

74m
74u is always the worst AK
>>
>>577214190
74u if you are considering using trenchcoat or leather jacket for mobility and running around if you dont have any stamina artefacts or suit upgrades

74m is the best overall

>>577215747

Yeah, but I think 74U is kinda cool. Honestly, I'm torn.
>>
>>577216663
Really? I'm not a gun faggot but the holographic bits and folding stock look worse than the full sized AK.

The 100 series is the best the AK got looks wise, they just look nice with straighter mags than with the really curvy ones. The 74M is also the best kind solely because it had all the quality of life improvements while still being well built and not jank as fuck like the AK12.

it's just a shortened 74 that's mediocre in game AND in real life. You get none of the benefits of it being short and it does mediocre damage, it's not meaningfully cheaper, and frankly its just uglier..

Is it me, or the weapons in OLR/VoA feels better than vanilla SoC? i prefer vanilla guns and gunplay, i usually avoid weapon packs since they make the weapons time to kill really fast, bt in OLR andVoa they feel acurrate and hard hitting but not too homogenized, was it like this in the earlier stalker builds? or it was a modification from the mod developers?

Is it fair to say that Anomaly/GAMMA and derivatives have nothing to really do with liking the vanilla STALKER games? Playing either of those modpacks never felt the same as playing the actual games to me.
>>
I had a dream about driving dirtbikes and even roadhogs through the zone, would they be better as vehicles than cars and trucks? If you stuck an anomaly detector on a long fishing pole in front?

>>
>>577311378
I would recommend to start on easy, but since you're already 20 hours in, it's too late.

Your goal is to continue doing random quests until you get advanced tools in yellow stash, craft C weapon and medium armour, clear X-16 lab, clear X-10 lab, move to the north, continue doing random quests until you get expert tools, get D weapon and exo armour, finish the main quest.

OLR SOP is shockingly long. Tons of quests to do without feeling too excessive or immersion breaking. Very bleak atmosphere as well. The Garbage and Yantar look like Hell on Earth.
>>
i'm installing iwp again
>>
>>577316240
nta but how long is OLR SOP? i dont like really long duration mods because i prefer to replay games or mods time to time, so longevity is a factor to me
>>
>>577322910
I have no way of tracking my current playtime but I’d guess I’m at 50+ hours and I’ve only just unlocked Radar. It’d be a bit less if cars didn’t bug out and refuse to move sometimes. Also if I wasn’t lead astray by the fucked up translation every so often.
