Does VorpX actually do stereoscopic 3D or just some weird fuckery? I think I tried it ages ago but never got it to work...

As for the mod, it's been updated a lot in the past couple days. Relatively easy to set up too, 1946 mods considered. I think there are some headset specific quirks depending what brand you have but it's running smoothly on my Quest 2. Originally it had some clipping issues with things like gunsights, since the external model would essentially be poking into your cockpit. It also made dive bombing a lot harder cause the little floor windows like on the Stuka and Dauntless were obscured too. That's all pretty much fixed now. The map and other HUD elements like the speedbar have also been integrated into the VR view too. Its just bombsights that are still broken at the moment though, just due to how the camera works in that view. Aside from that I've been having a blast, and I'll probably be flying solely in VR from this point onwards.
No version for BAT atm though, just 4.12 with the SAS mod, and Ultrapack 3. The developer is giving it some time to cook first before porting it to HSFX and then BAT, respectively

Kind of wish there was a good sim for diesel boats. There's a few sailing sims now, but I kind of want "derail valley/spintires but for small diesel vessels".
The closest I can think of is either Stormworks (and fuck putting more time into that, I shouldn't have to enclose the hull for it to float damn it), or that one Deadliest Catch game.
>>
>>576522990
There are two options I can think of
>Seafarer: The Ship Sim
Looks like it's more of a cargo focused game, mixed reviews.
>Ships At Sea
Has various types of ships, the devs made Fishing Barents Sea/North Atlantic which were okay fishing sims. Positive recent reviews.

Both are early access. I remember playing a bit of the old Ship Simulator back in the day, that was very janky.

Since this seems to be the actual current simg thread, here's my important UBOAT review you all need to read.

Been playing UBOAT for the past two weeks or so.
Now nearing the end of the war, it's september 1944 and there are no campaign missions left. I missed a few while I was still learning the game.
Especially the Tonnage War last level missed by the value of like one coastal ship, which really drives me crazy.
And I will probably never (very ahistorically) get the one medal that was specifically made for Hans-Ulrich Rudel, so I will keep my highest non-MC Knight's Cross.

Now, what can I say? I like the game, in principle. Mission-wise I like that it's not ALL sink tonnage stuff, but I especially enjoyed the special assignments like recovering the Enigma or a boat full of nazi gold or just shooting oil silos on the African coast with the deck gun.
I think the cross section view is kinda neat, and the ego perspective is comfy for looking around.
I like the nice little details like getting an important telegram, and it's just some dude's wife having given birth, and you can tell him personally, and combat itself, albeit simplistic regarding the AI, is kinda fun too.

However, all of that was made way less enjoyable than it could have been by
a) the abysmal UI (or rather UX, as the kids say)
b) really, really shitty performance
c) all the bugs, literally all of them

1/3
>>
>>576598354
There is a key for every ego perspective device's knob, yet there isn't any hotkey for e.g. ordering machines full stop, or diving depths (at least I didn't find one); I didn't find how to access the radio menu without going ego and manually manning it.

The dials on the torpedo tubes are laughably small. Getting the depth correct often took way longer than it could have been with a properly scaled slider, or allowing to enter a number, like they did with the storage - the storage slider was also kinda bad. I often also had the problem of changing a view and then not being able to click anything, lay a course and so on, so I had to reload at least from the main menu.

Sometimes I had torpedos hit ships and banish them to the shadow realm. They literally just disappeared without any trace.
Time compression works like ass, you can't set the type of message that will reset the time scale, so any time there is a new hydrophone contact the game will slow down again, which is really annoying just trying to pass the Channel, for example.
Generally, the focus on customization seems to have been really misdirected. I can play Sims with my entire crew, but I can't customize the important stuff.
And how can my officers get medal points if I do all the torpedo solutions manually? They still help, don't they?
Points are another point (lol) - after like two patrols money becomes a complete non-issue, and reputation points also accumulate very fast, and later on there is nothing to spend them on.

2/3
>>
>>576598492
What also annoyed me was that crew organization is not properly explained. Nowhere in the tutorial or manual is it explained what assigning a number of sailors or assigning sailors directly does, and I only later found out that I shouldn't assign sailors to shifts if I want them for my officers, and vice versa.
Sure, if you have been with this since EA you will know what's up, but they are now selling a full game at a very high price and you can't expect someone to pick it up because it looks interesting to go through years' worth of development.

Then of course the technical side. Oh boy, this is not even slavjank anymore. This is what slavs would call jank. Most parts of my computer, except for some disks and the case, were not even released when this game started development, yet I get stutters, long-ass "loading content in the background" and single digit frames when encountering convoys. I even put the game on an SSD, but I can't seem to notice any effect.

And of course the bugs. In addition to the aforementioned vanishing ships, I had ships spazzing out when hit in port so they wouldn't sink because a part was literally hanging on the edge of a harbor wall, in the last thread I mentioned suddenly not being able to order resupply anymore, effectively rendering all the milk cows I had unlocked at that point entirely useless (which came in really unhandy when transferring back from SEA to France), stuff like shooting a fan of FAT/LUT and them preemptively going into search mode because there were no settings for one of them, harbor menus disappearing, route resetting when entering a coastal area, because apparently the actual terrain loading in would disrupt the route, so you have to set it again, and of course a bunch of crashes.
Just shows again that Unity is a shit engine used mostly by shit devs.

It's a shame that we have so few sub sims that we are willing to put up with this shit. And it COULD be so good, if it weren't profoundly broken.

I was wondering how I could do TOT, since I have a watch and all of that, and I realized it shows ToF on the gauges on the fire console.
Then I realized that the watch itself shows the ToF of each barrel, which means I just have to watch the watch and pull the handle accordingly. And I just achieved a double whammy within a second or so.
I wonder if that can come in handy later on.

Time for Silent Hunter 3 blog posting (I'm playing OneAlex Extended version 1.5.2 with a mod I put together to make the Type XXI and it's technologies available in April 1944 instead of January 1945, if anyone is curious)
>June 9th, 1944
>Sortie from Bergen to try and interdict landings in Normandy
>North of the Orkney Islands
>pick up radar signals while snorkeling
>Drop the snorkel, dive to 40m to listen
>Warship on a patrol pattern
>Plot out it's course
>Zip over to intercept, slow down, up scope and see the smoke out in the distance
>Silent running
>Close to within 800m and fire one magnetic fuse G7E III
God I love the Type XXI. It's so nice to be able to fight back against these escorts and be able to penetrate into convoys again like it's 1940.

>Too far out to see visually, and weather is also shit with visibility only extending maybe 4,000 meters, high winds and waves
>Drop the snorkel, slow down to 3 knots and listen
>Dozens upon dozens of screw noises
>Big ass convoy, probably out of Halifax or New York
>Coming right at me
>Plot their course, plot my intercept course
>Turn towards them, silent running
>Raise scope and see massive passenger liner, escort carrier, and dozens of large merchant ships
>Get into position, slow down to 1 knot
>Escorts pass within 200 meters of me, stay undetected
>Up scope just enough to see above the waves
>Fire 3 contact fuse torpedoes at the passenger liner, 1 magnetic fuse at a large cargo ship, and 1 impact fuse at the carrier
>Ahead full, dive immediately to 220 meters directly under the convoy and slow back down to 1 knot
>All 3 hit the liner, 1 hits the cargo ship, and 1 clips the carrier, other misses
>Liner and cargo ship sink, carrier is down by the head heavily but still makes enough speed to keep up with the convoy
>Slink away to the northwest while the escorts go into a frenzy looking for me
>>576704389
In SH3, you will receive visual damage, things like bullet holes, burn marks, shell impacts, etc. but you don't split in half. When you die, it's an instant black screen. The game's damage model is based primarily off of "hull integrity" for the player sub, with compartments and modules having simple health bars, for lack of a better term. The lower it gets, the more shallow your max depth becomes and you can get crushed at relatively shallow depths if you're already damaged. I believe it's the same in SH4, don't quite me on that though.
>>
Ditto for the sinking passenger liner turned troop transport.
The fact that the Type XXI crush depth, given you're completely undamaged, is 320m is so fucking amazing. The depth gauge in game maxes out at 260m, so needless to say you don't have to worry much about imploding.
>Get pinged
>Just shit out a decoy and flank speed to 230m
>Silent running and get away no issues
The fact that OAE also has the thermal layer modelled is nice too, it almost feels like cheating. Just drop below it and escorts will almost never find you. Granted, the game doesn't tell you how deep the layer is, your only cue is when all sounds of the sub and everything on the surface becomes more dull quiet sounding. And granted that in almost every other U-Boat aside from the VIIC/41, you can't take advantage of the layer because it's just too deep down for you to get to.
>>
>>576705913
What happens if one compartment reaches 0hp? Is it just completely flooded and unusable?
>>
Continuing with U-2502
>Later in the same day, 70km or so south of where I engaged the previous convoy, make hydrophone contact with another inbound convoy
>Weather and high waves in my favor, keeps the escorts from hearing me as I race into position
>Silent running, slow down and wait
>Up scope, convoy comes into view out of the mist
>Not as loaded with large ships as the last one, mostly small freighters and transports, less than 5,000 GRT
>Spot an escort carrier in the center of the group next to a larger, 7,000 GRT freighter
>Fire one magnetic pistol G7E III at each ship
>Run time 90 seconds, plenty of time to get to depth and slip away before escorts can hope to find me
>First torpedo hits amidship on the carrier, huge secondary explosion, carrier slows to a stop and starts listing heavily
>Second torpedo strikes freighter just in front of the first mast, freighter still making headway but begins to quickly go down by the head
>Carrier rolls over and sinks
>Freighter makes it another few kilometers before the heavy seas swamp it and finish it off
>U-2502 again slips away and continues south, by now only with half of their torpedoes remaining
>>576706346
Yep, it be flooded and either completely destroyed and irreparable, forcing you to pump the water out (if you can) and then RTB, or if you CAN repair it, it'll take over a day. Maybe more.
As compartments flood, naturally that affects your buoyancy. Most of the time, you're screwed if one compartment is completely flooded. Though if you're lucky, you might be able to survive long enough not sink, break contact, then surface and head home. That's very rare though.
>>
>night begins to fall, now 100km south of the last convoy action
>Recharging batteries with only conning tower sticking out of the water, snorkel is up and radar is scanning
>Radar contact to the south east, range 18km
>Contact moving west at a fast clip, maybe 15 knots
>No radar signals, probably not a warship
>Plot intercept, get into position
>Distance closes to 4km, no visual, drop snorkel and radar
>Listen on hydrophone, it's a fast merchant
>Range closes to about 2,000 meters according to the Nibelung, still can't see it
>Races out of the fog and rain at 900 meters, speed 14 knots
>Fire torpedo with contact fuze at practically point blank range
>Hits right under the funnel, immediately starts a fire, ship slows to a stop and begins slightly listing
>Fire spreads, crew abandons ship
>Ship suddenly quickly begins to go down by the stern, now raised almost vertical into the air
>Slips straight back into the water
>Sank in less than 3 minutes

No more in-game screenshots from that patrol, but I rounded it out with a few more sinkings after attacking a third convoy and failing to sink anything and finally making it to my patrol grid in the Celtic Sea
>sudden radar warnings, bunches of them
>Drop snorkel, hear convoy
>Get visual, see another passenger liner and a revenger class battleship
>Get into position to launch full salvo of 6 torpedoes
>Waiting to launch torpedoes, then see a destroyer turning right towards me as if to run me down
>Forced to Launch torpedoes early from farther away than I'd like, crash dive
>Entire convoy starts to evade, all torpedoes miss
>Fuck
>Evade escorts, leave in shame and without the almost 80,000 GRT I could've sunk

>Early morning, Weather clears, nice flat sea
>Radar contact, 19km out
>Go to investigate
>Lone destroyer making 14 knots
>Haven't gotten a chance to use the homing torpedoes yet, decide "why not"
>Fire one homing torpedo from 2,500 meters
>Goes into search pattern and quickly picks up.on the unaware destroyer
>Goes for the props, misses, loops back around and blows the stern practically clean off
>Ship lingers in the surface for a while, then slowly slips back under the water

>Night falls, heavy fog rolls in, two radar contacts in a column, medium speed, likely unescorted small "convoy" going northeast to Cornwall
>Intercept, it's two freighters
>Fire one torpedo each, both hit, one freighter sinks immediately, the other is listing slightly but making out fine
>Suddenly an warship comes racing in from the northwest going mach nigger, doing 30 knots
>Pings me, drops a pattern
>Pattern set too shallow, no damage
>Drop decoy, sprint away for a minute as the warship loops around, then silent running
>Depth charges the decoy for 10 minutes then fucks off back to where it came from
>Catch back up to the limping freighter, send another torpedo at it to finish it off
>Very low on torpedoes now, turn for home and end the patrol

Been a while since I played UBOAT but I remember that the AI for the escorts will ALWAYS drop the depth charges at your exact depth, which naturally isn't very realistic. I remember seeing a mod that fixes that. AI isn't very good and sometimes they do strange things like either telepathically always knowing where you are, or they just drop a pattern then fuck off permanently.

Anyways, this is what I do in SH3. It's pretty universal for all WW2 subsims though.
The deeper the better. Shallow water is a death sentence most of the time because you have less depth to maneuver with.
Don't be broadsides to the escorts if they're pinging you with sonar. You want to try to present as small of a profile as possible, so have your stern pointing towards them or your bow.
When they start their attack run, do a gentle turn to whichever direction away from them
When they drop charges, you need to get away as soon as possible. Change depth, and course radically to put as much distance between you and the charges before they reach your depth (once again, deeper is better. takes longer for the charges to fall to you). Once they start exploding, rudder 0 and stay flank speed for a good few seconds, maybe 10 or so, then go back to as slow and as quiet as you can. The explosions will drown out your sound for a bit, but not very long. You can use that to slip away.
Change course and depth every now and then and rinse repeat the above steps until you get away, the escorts fuck off, or until your luck runs out and you die. Sonar decoys help alot, drop one then change depth and course and put as much distance between you and it as possible.
It's not an exact science, sometimes you just get raped (hedgehogs, ASW mortars)
It's why early war, I always try to conduct attacks on the surface at night. Escorts can't hear you, and you have more time and space and speed to slip away from them after you fire torpedoes. Once radar becomes a thing though, that's not very feasible.
>>
>>576711978
So max speed to get away and then go quiet? I think I kept getting fucked by crawling along because I didn't want them to hear me.
>>
>>576712698
Pretty much, gotta open up that distance as much as you can somehow.
If you're silent running and they begin pinging you and start dropping depth charges, the jig is up and there isn't any use to staying quiet anymore.
What helped me a bunch with how to evade is watching Wolfpack345 play UBOAT and SH3. There's also steam guides as well for both games on how to evade and minimize the ass bungling that will surely ensue.
Again though, the AI in UBOAT is almost criminal sometimes. Either it's John Depthcharge himself hunting you down, or the destroyers are screwed by Britain's finest selection of deaf quadriplegics. A shitty ASDIC set in 1939 wouldn't be able to pick out a submarine sitting on the bottom completely motionless making 0 noise, but somehow in UBOAT they can. A seasoned destroyer crew in 1942 should be able to hammer down on a u-boat at periscope depth with the snorkel up going at flank speed, but somehow in UBOAT they can't.
It's why I play only SH3 nowadays for my submarine autism.

NTA but settling on the bottom (which you can do in UBOAT if you're careful but can't in (vanilla) SH3) seems to make the AI lose track of you pretty quickly. Not sure if that's intended or a bug, it mentions in the manual that settling hides your sonar signature but I wouldn't think that should mean 'enemy instantly forgets your position and fucks off'.

To be fair, the "fun" part of DCS is mostly learning the various aircraft inside and out, learning the quirks, the weird ideas of how the different systems should operate, some of which died out and some of which formed the bases of how it is to be done in later aircraft. It's more of a digital museum then anything, and actually flying them is more of a demonstration to yourself of how much you have learned.

Most of them alternate between Escalation and Terminal Control (or modded versions of them), switching and resetting everything once one side completes all their objectives. A couple run custom missions I think but I've never tried them.

https://blog.scssoft.com/2026/08/road-trip-atlas.html
It looks like certain areas will have postcards available, and you visit certain points to contribute to the postcard, which you get once completed, you can also do this in trucks.
>With the introduction of Atlas, you will be able to find Tourist Boards in California, and in the Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota DLCs. We will then be gradually adding them to all the other states as well.

The dogfight AI in Korea is astoundingly bad. You get 7 wingmen in the final exams, but for the Yak-9 / F-86 / La-11 exams, you have to do 100% of the work yourself because your wingmen will not shoot down a SINGLE plane.

Iron Nest potentially dumb question:
Are they using an actual ballistic model or is it just some "fantasy" one.
Disclaimer: I know jackshit about external ballistics except that it's some kind of e based parabola.
Now what I realized during the mission where the firing solution calculator us broken is that I can easily calculate the elevation as a fraction of the current load's max distance.
E.g. if I have 2 charges that go to a distance of 10km at 60°, and to 5km at 30°, it will go 7.75km at 45° and so on, making this a strictly linear relationship.
For some reason I was under the impression that it were more involved irl.

He fucked up early in development using the wrong references and misunderstanding how such big shells behaved. He was a solo dev and would have to redo a bunch of stuff so he just kept it as is. So, the ballistics themselves are not realistic. But it doesn't hurt the gameplay.

learning and mission making is my main draw to DCS but it would be nice to play multiplayer sometimes.
Idk what is up with online. I close every other window and I have 48GB of RAM (Slightly missmatched DDR 4). Syria in single player is playable.
I don't like iL-2 or BMS that much. I know I'd love NO but I sunk too much money into DCS to switch sims.
>>
>>576863090
Are you still running out of RAM in the game?
>>
What's the point in DCS if playing it is the shittiest part
>>
>>576863090
Mixing RAM speeds might be fucking things up a bit for you, but Syria is hungry in general and will max out 64 gigs if things get busy on higher settings. There are a lot of options you can tweak for better performance, but start with lowering preload radius to 10k or under and see what happens to your frames.
Core parking issues had me chasing performance gremlins for a while too
>>
>>576857780
All good, I'm just joking. It's true that it doesn't affect gameplay, so it's definitely tolerable.
Though reading the FAQ right now I am a bit bummed that there really doesn't seem to be any kind of way (e.g. through some upgrade or something) to increase elevation.
So no shooting over mountains ;_;

>UK Releases RFI for New Jet Trainer and Red Arrows Aircraft
>Boeing offers partial final assembly in the UK
>Leonardo is open to final assembly but hasn't said much
The sources I have also said that apparently Leonardo is pissed off with the UK both because of the shitshow with Yeovil and the heli contract and the fact that they dragged the trainer choice too much. Apparently the UK bid is now "low priority" and they are focusing more on the USN bid and the Japan bid as both would open new and bigger markets (Big contract with USN will make every other airframe and spare part more available and cheaper for new potential customers in the americas, and the same goes for Japan if they go for local production).
My dream of the M-346 becoming the defacto GCAP trainer might be over.
>>
>>576916258
Leonardo probably also factors in the backlash that british tabloids would unleash due to the initial russian origins. Winning a contract for barely 24 airframes just to have your reputation dragged through the mud doesn't sound like a smart move.
>>
>>576755495
>>576756274
That's why you're fucking morons, where is the body? Where is the plane? You're posting your perspective of the model and asserting that its the model itself.
>>
>>576916661
Leonardo (through AW) has a factory here though. Refusing to even license build american aircraft like in the past is like telling all the factory workers at AW here to go jump off a bridge. Not an uncommon sight in the UK as far as the defence industry goes, even the typhoon is at risk of simply not being made anymore because the government refuses to buy more.
>>
File: s-l1600.png (2.16 MB, 1600x1555)
2.16 MB PNG
>>576918662
Yeah, but I think the issue comes before Leonardo can even say anything. The issue is that if the UK only buys 20-40 units (no matter who they choose) the economy of scale even for just having a FACO isn't there.
If the UK says "who cares we need to make the next trainer at least british assembled" for propaganda purposes then you're wasting money that could've went to GCAP or other defence projects like your new CCA, etc.
Realistically Leonardo won't refuse local assembly (local production is impossible for both)

>Across at Leonardo, though there was notably less emphasis on the UK bid, both of the company’s potential options were featured at the airshow in the flesh. Leonardo’s own stand featured one of its M-345 jet trainers, while an Italian Air Force example of the more advanced M-346 was shown off in the static display park.
>Nigel Colman, Managing Director of Leonardo Helicopters UK, ruled out the possibility of the company’s Yeovil site being used as the local manufacture element of any bid made, but Leonardo’s significant UK presence would almost certainly see local industrial involvement regardless of where final assembly takes place. The RFI calls for a “significant UK workshare”.
IIRC Yeovil should still be safe with the AW149 order at least, but Leonardo was really close to just shutting down there due to the massive budget delays.

Heh, I just reached this one, but I found the landing boat one already rather stressful (though I guss just waiting for them to land and then HCHE'ing their asses would make this rather easy lol), so I am currently taking a break.
But regarding the moving and CBT (cock and battery torture), I found that in the earlier mission where you get CB the first time the timer also doesn't pause or something, because I used an emergency moving there.
Maybe it's a general thing.
But then again, the game hasn't been out for a week, so I would assume there's a patch coming soon. I personally would love to have different settings for controller or mouse because currently I have to invert/re-invert anytime I change between them.

>>
>>576945802
The landing boat mission had just the right amount of time pressure imo. Thought I did poorly but it worked out in the end. This one is just rough though. Sure I could be faster with plotting but even if I get faster at it there would only be seconds to spare. The timer works differently in that mission also. You getting acquired isn't tied to your rounds landing but happens automatically after a set amount of time and right now I can't re-establish my own position fast enough, locate the target and load/fire before I have to emergency move again so I'm just stunlocked having to redo everything without being able to shoot back.

Been Hosas'ing with twin VKB Gladiators in some space gaems and that's fun but I want to fly a real plane (or something very close to it).
Could stick to VKB and get their STECS since it has lots of buttons anyways and it looks nice. But also like some of the other mid to high end ones I've seen too.

Either way I'm not shelling out more cash to have a mounting plate for a chair mount I've spent a lot on already shipped to me from who the hell knows where so I'm thinking of making one. Finally finished the campaign in UBOAT. From like November 44 on I only did like two or three patrols and sent my dudes on vacation as often as I could. In fact, they all saw the end of the war in the bavarian village. During the service quarter timeskip I got a bunch of pauses where I had to press the "Continue" button, but there was no notification or message whatsoever. Well done, devs, well done!

The last few patrols were getting really annoying; everything was swarming with battleships and rarely and freighters. I shot some cruisers and destroyers out of sheer desperation.
Also, the constant car door slam sound you get when there's a new hydrophone contact or something was getting increasingly irritating.

All in all I don't regret playing it, but in its current state I wouldn't pay amy money. Glad I pirated it.

I'm the first to bash my own country, but in this case it's not on us. The UK MOD should've replaced their trainers at least a decade ago by funding a local company (Aeralis was DOA, let's be real)
The moment they saw a british trainer was impossible they should've bought the M-346 and be done with it simply because it's a proven product which is already training RAF pilots, it's already in production, it's European, it's from a GCAP partner with massive UK positioning, and has known costs.
Had they immediately chosen the M-346 back then they would've had priority production, delivery and bigger local industrial collaboration than anything they can get now since we have backlogs from 4-5 different customers to deliver. Boeing is desperate to get a first export customer, so they might go all in and promise the moon but deliver a rock like they did with the USAF, with these unknowns Leonardo is in a way smart to not expose themselves too much, especially considering it would be a normal sized order, and they can still try to push the "gcap trainer" with Japan and possibly Canada and Singapore seeing as they both want to join gcap.
>>
>>577075810
The T-7 will be built here, I'm not sure the 346 would have been which plays a big part in the deal.

>The T-7 will be built here
It will be not, Boeing and BAE never offered that. it will have at most a final assembly line.
But it's extremely unlikely as it doesn't make economical sense (for both the UK and Boeing) unless you're buying 100+ units no matter who they choose. Leonardo was/is open for a final assembly line if it's the straw that breaks the camel's back as well, it's just that they're not as desperate as Boeing for this bid.

I did hear that the M-346 is quite expensive so that would have been a factor.

It's been on my wishlist for years, it's quite pricey so I haven't got round to getting it.
>>
>>577141594
>I did hear that the M-346 is quite expensive
Compared to previous trainers yes, compared to the T-7 I doubt it but it's impossible to know as the USAF bid has been a clusterfuck and Boeing has eaten the costs. I still doubt it will be cheaper to procure than any of the competitors seeing at how they are still in pre LRIP.
Operational costs are definetly higher due to the afterburning engine and no other users.
What worries me is that the UK is still talking about getting a replacement before 2030, which is literally impossible unless they plan to choose the M-346 or FA-50 and ask for the transfer of already in service jets. (similar to what WK did with Poland since they are still unable to produce the PL version)

jesus fucking christ how are you supposed to be able to hover in an Mi-8 this feels impossible

even with pedals jeez I feel like I'm trying to balance on an ice ball with one hand, one foot and my tongue
>>
>>577183570
Is your collective curve set up properly?
>>
>>577183717
I don't know, what should it be like? I've left all the axis on their defaults because I feel like mucking around with it will probably screw me up.
The worst part is
>slowed down
>get to about <50kts
>heli starts shaking
>either retain collective at the same position, enter VRS, crash
>increase collective, gain altitude, fly away from where I'm trying to hover
>>
>>577183870
From my experience your physical throttle and the curve for it can make a big difference in hovering because you can't find a sweet spot, so I would fiddle with the sensitivity and other settings and see what works.
>>
>>577184141
I'll try.
I think possibly part of the difficulty is having the throttle set in reverse like a collective - maybe it's confusing my brain and making me go the wrong way by mistake
>>
>>577184674
That sounds awkward. I have a T1600000M throttle which is shit anyway so helis are a pain to hover, but adjusting the sensitivity helped, it's easy to get stuck either sinking or ascending when you can't find the sweet spot on the collective.
>>
>>577185379
it's not just that, it's probably just because it's early days but I feel like I'm really struggling to coordinate both pedals and stick and collective at the same time.
>>
>>577186129

Winwing is the next highest recommended simslop here, it's also good shit but it's made in China so you may have to do a return to replace a faulty unit, something you NEVER have to worry about with mom and pop Lithuanian craftsmen.
