i'm going through the Bungie games again with some friends, and since i'm the only old halo fan out of our group(the others have NEVER played many shooting games, much less halo), they keep asking me questions.the problem is, i don't remember what is and isn't bungie lore. i never got around to reading every book that was out when bungie were in charge still, and for simplicity's sake, i'd rather NOT get into 343 lore and retcons because i'm unsure if we're even going to finish the bungie games, much less go into halo 4.i am NOT here to hate on 343, i am not here to start a fight; i'm simply asking if there's an archive for my friends and i to refer to while they get into the series with the bungie games.
>>576694460>the definitive way

>>576706520>i'm simply asking if there's an archive for my friends and i to refer to while they get into the series with the bungie games.there's halopedia, and I believe it lists the source for most if not all of its articles at the bottom of its page. if the source is from a book that came out after bungie left, or from a post-bungie halo installment, you can ignore it. halopedia should also have a page on the books that differentiates them by release.you can also relay some of your questions here, and anons should be able to answer them. the main thing that differentiates bungie lore and 343 lore is this:>humans ARE forerunnersif you start hearing about "ancient humanity's war with the forerunners", that's retarded nu-lore shit where ancient humanity, who were on-par with the forerunners (y'know the guys who built the halo rings), fell into ruin because they found Flood jerky and fed it to their pets because they thought it made good dog food
>>576706520>>576710805oh, you also cannot trust any terminal entries even though they were technically bungie-era, because the guy that wrote them was not part of the main lore team, so he was basically writing shitty fanfic that later became the basis for 343 lore

best thing about 343 lore is how they made the covies literally subhumankilling a covie is no different than flushing a turd. Remember Reach, TCD.

>>576710805i'm aware of the Forerunner retcon, lol. what i'm mostly curious about, because it's been such a long time since i read anything other than the actual text of the games, is what we knew about the covenant species, the spartan i/iii program, and such.the iv program always bothered me, because it has almost no consistency narratively. the orion project/i program was just augmenting grown marines, and had poor results, as far as i'm aware, so it was shelved. so, four years after halo 3, the UNSC just... modifies fully grown marines and they grow three feet and become godly supersoldiers on part with even the best of the best ii program candidates, and THIS TIME it just works because.... it just works, okay? the only good thing to come from the iv program is that palmer is pretty, and that can't begin to make up for the dumb writing.anyway, rant aside, one of my friends keeps asking about the covenant species, what we know about them, how they live, etc etc. he's a writer in his spare time and enjoys worldbuilding and such, AND he's curious enough about both versions of the lore. to paraphrase, "i want to see the original vision, but i also am curious about the new lore too". i was hoping there would be a nice, clean archive that had the old stuff available that one could refer to, since Halopedia tends to have a lot of both.i don't really HATE all of 343's lore, either; some of the backstory for the covenant races is neat, and i enjoy the ideas, but my friend asked about the old stuff too, lol.thanks for the reply.
>>576712056Halo 2 did have another Spartan in it, tho
>>576711809nobody cares about bookshit, nor should theythis is why 343's games make no sense, all the major universe changing plat threads happen off-screen>the didact actually didn't die when chief exploded him off a bridge into a bottomless pit, but then he dies in a book. or maybe he doesn't. also he has an evil twin, or is the evil twin. who writes this shit?>elite who is now the head of the covenant is built up in the books as some huge badass>unceremoniously killed off at the start of h5 and nobody knows who he is>cortana is now the defacto ruler of the universe at the end of halo 5>everything pertaining to that happens in a book>she dies before halo infinite and nothing really mattered
>>576710038Higher upfront budgeting scare shareholders. Paying contractors down the line means we can put the cost into another fiscal quarter or year so it doesn't seem as bad, especially when we lay off the initial team and can put their salaries into the "savings" column
>>576711809I thought that cover and the idea of seeing Mark 7 was so cool but I never did get around to that book before I stopped trusting 343 lore to be worth my timeI even wrote a kind of Didact and Mark 7 into my own ideas prompted partially due to 343's public stance of not being a game's company, so when Marcus would later say many of 343's ideas are similar but not how he'd have done things I felt what he meant in my own wayMaybe we only got rid of the 343 art style because other parts of the games weren't strong enough to carry it, but maybe we only got it in the first place because of that "too traditional" reaction to that first 'vertical slice'
>>576696650>I liked Lumoria
>>576680354ouu shit
>>576710961His name is Frank O'Connor. A nobody at Bungie who got the keys to the franchise, somehow, when Microsoft formed 343.He was responsible for the terminals, which go against the entire trilogy's story and even 343 Guilty Spark saying to Chief "You ARE Forerunner". 343 "fans" will say they absolutely without doubt override everything that came before, because some lines of text, in some obscure terminals, written by someone that barely had any input at all in the writing of the games, that the majority of the playerbase won't bother looking for, take priorityThere are some that say the forerunner trilogy books are much better than the story told through the 343 games but anything that rewrites Humans as not being the Forerunners I immediately disregard
>>576712216not reading the green bitsi don't agree with your black bits at allpeople were incredibly intrigued, nay, mesmerized when i told them about halo lore in custom games back in the dayhalo books are cooland bungie agreed, which is why the games are full of references to it and lifted entire concepts from it like ODSTs, the Seraph fighter, and Cairo Stationthe books are shit tier literature but do not pretend that people don't carepeople who didn't play the campaign might not carebut those cod cretins aren't included in any game discussion

>>576712056That tired meme long since fell apart under scrutiny (or even just paying attention to the games) but there were times it was worth ignoring previous details. I enjoyed TFoR greatly but I'm glad the detail about Elites showing up for the first time/en masse was changed to allow for Halo Wars and any other media that'd want Elites prior to Reach. Marty and Marcus have both spoken of plans for plot after the Ark that'd require a whole trilogy and I'm sure those also show appropriate picking-and-choosing what Bungie-era details to bring forward or adjust.
bungie lore is >See that alien? He glassed Reach. Here's a magnum.>ZOMBIES AAAAAAH, I WASNT TRAINED FOR THIS! THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM!>Wait, the the covenant is trying to jonestown the entire universe? Religion, amirite...

>>576718861Surprisingly, I can say I doubt that. What is unfortunately likely is H2A or even Infinite/CER Elites with their very visually layered undersuits that seem more like the UNSC made them.
>>576718320I'll tell what I don't want to see. Elevators, Gondolas, and holding down an area until the door decides to open very slowly. We don't need to spend 15-20 minutes in a spot fighting wave after wave of enemies. Either make this shit move faster or make it less of a slog.

>>576716961Neat concept to switch back and forth between old and new graphics. Problem is the model proportions don’t actually work in nugraphics. But it’s actually not that big of a deal because the new art style is shit too. So you can just switch to classic graphics. Except classic graphics are botched too because it’s the gearbox port. They’re somewhat fixed on MCC (after over a decade) But the 360 Standalone CEA is still a mess. Now it’s not unplayable but it’s hard to recommend. If you’re on an old console like the 360 why not just go one generation back and play the original?

I'd say the Prophet crowns and Councilor helmets are good designs, so I wonder what this design was that was considered funny.
Marty stated that Halo 2 was the intended ending because of how bad the profit sharing was between Bungie and Microsoft. Bungie made maybe 15% of the profits from Halo. They were going to leave Microsoft and make a new IP with 100% ownership after Halo 2.

>>576724752It's anyone's guess. For all I know Halo 2 will get another remake that will shift into a new path, whether it's slight, following the original ending to some unknown degree or more of a HS-original. Although, perhaps two remakes in a row is unlikely as far a releases go. Only counter-point to that I can think of is that an all-new release wouldn't necessarily be Halo 7 and could be a spin-off or MP-only title.I could even see a timeline where CER gets more bonus missions, Firefight and multiplayer, just to keep positive press rolling until H2R or a brand new game. Then again I'm not 100% up-to-date and maybe certain plans are already confirmed.
>>576718320On-rails sections like the Gondolas removed and instead replaced by vehicular combat sections, land or air or both. I understand that Marty's music tism and the need to stretch the game is why they exist in the original, but technical limitations are no longer an excuse now.

>>576718803It's going to be the Infinite Elites again but with armor touchups. What i hope is that they fix the atrocious enemy pop numbers per difficulty. There were no zealots when playing as the Master Chief unless you did Legendary in which they were the easiest enemy of the bunch to take on because the sword doesn't get aimbot, and they don't really lunge anymore, that lack of lunge also needs to be fixed.
>>576725363>>576725658Back in 2005 and 2006 the biggest anticipation was the Halo 2 Soundtrack CD.>The most common question I get asked is, "Where is the Halo Soundtrack Vol. 2?" Well, I just went over to the very fount of aural pleasuring, Mr. Marty O'Donnell who looked me straight in the eye and with a glint of wry, grandfatherly wisdom said, "The soundtrack is done, and mastered and ready to be shipped off to the factories. It is not being held up by me, Nile Rodgers, or by any of the artists signed by Nile Rodgers, contrary to internet rumors." With a twirl of his cape and a tip of his top hat, he rapped his cane and bid me good day!>Pete Parsons and Joe Staten are, as I write this, in New Zealand, at WETA, with Peter Freakin' Jackson, where they're brainstorming the Halo movie, and more importantly, walking around in a starry-eyed haze, marveling at Orc costumes, Centaur swords and giant gorillas. Every ten minutes or so, uberfanboy Pete will instant message me with some new bulletin, like, "OMG I just saw Andúril, the Flame of the West!" Or, "Oh wow! I stole some soft leather green point-toed boots. I am Elvenshod! See how I prance, as light and airy as an Elf in his aerie." Yep, that is just how Pete rolls. >Sound tools are a big deal this time around, since there's no dedicated audio processor in the Xbox 360, so there's a lot more "book keeping" for our audio wizards. This time around they have to keep better track of what goes where and when - on Xbox they could rely on the hard drive for sloppy stuff, but this time around everything has got to be buttoned up real tight.Bungie loved Dead or Alive and Japanese gameshttps://halo.bungie.org/bwu/index.html?item=42https://halo.bungie.org/bwu/index.html?item=51Frankie jokes about ritalin kids and DBZ. >>576725073A side project that's a second remake attempt after the first was the start of a terrible decade for the previous iteration of the studio kinda shouldn't be a "big release splash". It just should've been a great start that showed they could at least follow an existing blueprint and just make the same structure with modern advantages. They did not. >>576728458>>576728694Masterz1337 was porting h2 levels to halo pc>So why port a H2 level? Well for one, those of us who have nothing much to do with CMT, are the ones who primarily focus on in gamed content. The second reason, is far more personal for me at least. I think Halo 2 is the weakest game in the series and I was severely disappointed in Halo 2 upon it's release. In fact, my disappoint with H2 is the reason why CMT was originally founded 8 years ago, as we believed we could take the ideas of H2, and do them right. . I think it's the worst game of the series. I believe this, because I believe the gameplay is inherently flawed, and that the campaign's story creates situations where the sandbox is limited (this mostly applies to Arbiter missions, but also chief). For every halo game since H2 everyone asks "Well, is it better than H1?">It is my belief that out of Bungie's series, Halo 1 has had the best gameplay. I also believe that CMT has created one of the best Halo gameplay experiences ever. So this is what we intend to do, starting with Delta Halo/Regret. We are going to port the level from H2, using as much data we can gather from H2 as we can. Unfortunately, due to castration of H2V, this is not as easy as it should. While the BSPs and scenery are value by value ported over, we are doing custom encounters, and custom cutscenes. Now, these encounters are not meant to be an exact replication of those in H2, but are rather based on them. There is also the challenge of content, as H2 does contain some new assets vital to missions. We will be releasing 2 versions of the map, one that uses the classic Halo Sandbox to the best of our ability, and another that takes advantage of the openly sourced CMT mod. With the H1 version, we plan to let you enjoy Halo 2's Delta Halo/Regret with Halo 1's legendary gameplayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEGF94FZ_BYhttps://forum.halomaps.org/index839f.html

They think multiplayer must been what the majority of the studio was working on. Right? Uh, far from it.>Marty O’DonnellThe famous Halo 2 crunch was so bad. We had to renege on so many promises. And this is such a typical Bungie story, as it happens over and over again. We just couldn’t deliver.>Marcus LehtoI think Halo 2 has the darkest memories for me, personally. We struggled the most as a studio at that time, just to figure out what we wanted to make, how we were going to come off of that success of Halo and to ante it up. But we just didn’t have the right leadership at that time.>Marcus LehtoWe were obsessed with detail and with quality overall, so whatever we were going to ship, we knew it was going to be something that played well. But we all knew what it could’ve been, had we actually had our shit together.>Joe StatenWe were driven by the strong desire to outdo ourselves, but we didn’t fully understand our limitations. And it was a hard process to admit to ourselves that we couldn’t do everything.>Paul BertoneIt was basically a death march to the end. Nobody will say anything different, and if they do they’re just trying to sugarcoat it. Just a death march.>Jaime GriesemerSome of Halo 2 was great—the Xbox Live component was something nobody had ever done, the multiplayer was excellent. And a lot of really cool tech and story stuff happened. But we had to kill ourselves to get it done.>Paul BertoneI honestly thought that nobody was going to buy it, because the stuff we had to do at the end of the project felt so gut wrenching. But luckily, nobody saw how it was before, so for them it’s like all the stuff we took out just doesn’t exist.

Did some higher-up sit down and make all the major bad choices? Just enough that the people under them decided to try and play into it since a more respectable vision for Halo was already denied? I wonder. Halo's fortunate: many series die and stay gone with just one Halo 4-tier entry. >>576745007well, that's the issue, right? why do we need Spartan IVs, lore wise, when ODSTs were getting things done? IVs exist purely for the sake of "now YOU can be a spartan too!" since all of the IIs and most of the IIIs were killed off-screen before 343 got involved, and i think MS and 343 were afraid of doing more crimes against humanity to create the player character for their self insert storyline in Spartan Ops(horrible, awful mode. i wish i could shoot Miller with a fuel rod. the only redeemable part of Palmer is that she seems to hate Miller as much as i do. not even being pretty will save you, sorry girl).

Staten wasn't kidding about Halo 2 being 15 levels long>Joseph Staten: This is the copy of the script, the cinematic script for Halo. This document needs to talk to programmers and artists and animators and everybody. This is 160 pages worth of cinematics. That's kind of crazy if you just think about it on its own, but when you look at a game which is 15 levels long, with a couple of protagonists and a fairly complex story arc—when you need to drive the player's experience for 20 hours of gameplay—say, 120 minutes of cinematics doesn't really seem that out of proportion. But just to look at it prima facie, it's pretty daunting. You think, "My God, you're making a feature film.">Marcus Lehto: We start with the story first of all. We get a good background to the entire game, just a foundation for things, and then we start building levels off of that. This particular level that I'm looking at right now is called the Sentinel Headquarters. The Sentinel is this hovering character. They don't need a floor; they can fly up through the ceilings, they can fly through portals that are 20 feet up. But you as the character will have the challenge of traversing this interesting terrain inside the structure, up and across beam-work and through these little portals throughout the space. So it's going to be really interesting for the player to explore.>Joseph Staten: We had a vision in our mind about what Halo 2 would look like, and that vision is really easy to see in the Halo 2 announcement trailer. Stencil shadows on everything, real-time reflections in the Master Chief's visor—this very crisp, well-wrought image. And we thought, "Well, that's what we're going to show for E3." When we got to the actual implementation of some of the choices we had made, we realized that it's impossible. And we went around and around on that and other questions for... perhaps too long.

>>576816430>for an old action game, yeah, it's excellentEven by the sub-moho standards of shooters, it's far from "excellent".>>576816503>Halo 2 introduces a supervillain talking magic plant. And a species of lowly worm caliphs. And a silverback with a giant mochi mallet.
>>576816503made from space dust
>>576815505Probably some weird mandate from higher-ups that no one has a high enough speech level to overturn. One of Halo's fundamentals was being able to shoot while moving at max speed in any direction. If a game really must have a sped up state just give that state some trade-offs when it comes to accuracy. This also satisfies the "they're super-soldiers" reasoning. Some say Infinite's Sprint may as well not exist, so if we go with that thinking then I guess we just need a launch that's at least as packed with modes as Reach or even 4 were at launch. Have the tried, true and beloved that also doubles as a safety net in case any big new idea is more trouble than it's worth. Spartan Ops, Warzone, open world. All massive new undertakings that weren't needed. All stuff that could've come after launch instead of shoving ol' faithfuls out of the way for launch day. They just keep getting the order backwards.
>>576816313>a bloated mess that thinks it's grander than it actually isBut enough about final Halo 2.
343 deserves its fatebungie deserves its fatemarathon deserves its fatehalo deserves its fate
>>576815505You gotta remember, Halo was the dudebro normie shooter until that audience went over to Call of Duty in the late 2000's. Nothing ever did that to Call of Duty, so it stayed big and became the "buy the yearly game" to them. Somewhat too big to fail too.
>>576816313It was a solid series of events for dismantling not just the armies of the Covenant but the doctrine that tied it all together. Even then what we see is just the unfinished version that would've been improved greatly if they'd had the time. We got something great and we could've had something even better. Same goes for the story arc after the Ark that some employees have mentioned the existence of. With the way this timeline is going we may even get both, more or less. If history rhymes then Halo 2's remake will be a substantial improvement over CE's, much like H2A was over CEA. Great thing is there's no need to bet a pre-order on this outcome.
>>576817165my fate is to get double teamed and plapped by two thick...fuel rods ^w^
>>576817269the live service craze totally dethroned CoD, some things like Fortnite and Valorant earn more in a month than a single CoD entry does in its entire shelf life
>>576817351>much like H2A was over CEAH2A was genuine fucking garbage and so were Blur's cutscenes with desynced audio and the backward flying ship, stop the slop
>>576817497I know better than to get my hopes up for them to tap into its full potential is all. No miracles for H2R, merely improvements. At this point any right moves made feel like they only happen because they need to keep above a certain threshold, rather than passion for the IP in question. Wasn't long ago that it looked like Halo would simply be shelved rather than even doing the bare minimum, as if they got tired of doing even that.
>>576816313>i'm glad we get the truncated version with excellent writing and an iconic cliffhanger ending
imagine an RE2-tier remake of 1,2,3 told as one continuous narrative (in 3 acts) that expands on the politics of the universe and gives arbiter more prominence in the h3 sections
I mean infinite did something to get people back into halo at the beginning before they fumbled the bag like always>>576817397>my fate is to get double teamed and plapped by two thick...fuel rods ^w^lucky fag
>>576818070> that expands on the politics of the universe
>>576818312you want them to get into the forerunners are human lore? that's lame imo, that shit should only be in the background with a lot of contradictory in-universe (mis)information
>RE2-tier remake
>>576818503would've gone with RE1-tier but i think only a bolder re-imagining can save this franchise atp
good halo last night
>>576817497the backwards ship was in the OG too you poser
>>576818070The RE remakes cut a lot of content I liked. No
>>576816313kek>>576817130This. I'm glad they dialed that stuff back down in 3. 2 felt like they were force-feeding you too much lore and details every level. They rushed the world-building too much and it actually made it feel smaller and artificial. Sometimes literally, where the flat, low-res 2D skybox paintings didn't help, made the game feel too much like a movie set. Halo 1 felt so much bigger, and they weren't teleporting you around to every corner of the universe every couple missions. I hate how the Covenant lost all its mystery/mystique. They weren't that alien anymore, just another Star Wars/Star Trek-ish race that act like humans. It was better when only the grunts could speak clearly.
>>576819021well unlike the OG RE trilogy, MCC is widely available so you can go back and play the bits you like, cohesion is more important than your quirky chungus set pieces
>>576819021this bothers me deeply its like these people have never played the original games or something
"people" is a strong word
>>576819213>, cohesion is more important than your quirky chungus set piecesBut enough about Halo 2's Arbiter levels.
>discussion as though there's a futureHalo will be shelved as abruptly as 4chan went down that day and this time... none of you will be left behind
>>576819332AAAAIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>576819332WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
They should have never introduced the Gravemind in 2. He should have stayed in the background and hidden until the end of 3. They should never have introduced the prophets. They should have stayed in the background and hidden but you could hear their alien non-English voices in the holograms/broadcastings. In fact, they really shouldn't have let you play as the Covenant. We should have just gotten more Halo 1, but set on Earth. And then in 3 we head to the Ark. They still could have worked Arbiter into the story so that he and the Elites joined you in 3.
>>576819338ehhhh idrc, i stopped playing fps games for a while now
>>576819836>We should have just gotten more Halo 1, but set on Earthsounds like fucking garbage brother, the contrast between the militaristic earth levels and the religious context of arbiter's levels is what makes 2 memorable, the liminal y2k thing in CE doesn't work when it's earth
The only way to save Halo is by making a dating sim and a hentai
Oh there's a future alright and it's just getting started!
Ive got a bad feeling about this...
this is our GOW Reloaded, our own E-Day is coming soon, stay strong
Boy, you always have a bad feeling about something.
I jizzed my pants when the grunts said that in 2
>>576820176this
>>576819338Not so fast.>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkiZGnzI600
why are there no halo clones? people make doom clones, COD clones, CS clones and even titanfall clones but never pay attention to this franchise
>>576820229
>>576820336It's called Splitgate
>>576820491what is that?
>>576820549IDK ask Grok
in the original game on the second level the groups of marines you find all went to a defensible location during the waves of covenant attacks. in the remake they all instead run around like spastics, often times not even sticking together, making the game of "save the marines" unreasonable difficult
>>576820336I've seen a very recent reveal about a Halo-inspired game, but what people who care about Halo want is good Halo that looks and sounds like Halo. Doing this right in one's free time takes a lot of work and most of those projects are either chugging along or don't have long left until they fizzle out. For anything intended to be monetized it feels a bit soulless to make a Halo mimic because you'd rather be using the IP itself without reserve.
>>576820549It's halo but you have a portal gun strapped to your wrist
>>576818997may we see it?
>>576819969>mc is a femboy armor tech who services a Spartan-III futa team
>>576820549Halo + Portal free to play game, that of course gamers abandoned because it was complete at launch and didn't dripfeed you content. Sure it had skins to buy but everything else was available from the get-go
>>576820890I'm talking about the original Splitgate here btw, the sequel was live service trash
>>576820336thats the secret captain everything is a halo clone now
>>576819957Whenever I replay Halo 2 missions, I usually skip Arby's levels (I might play the first bit up until you have to grab the Banshee and then quit/skip) and the parts where Chief gets teleported by the gravemind. The Earth missions were the best part about 2. The last 2 Arby missions are pretty good though, I don't mind playing those. But most of the game feels like filler and just makes you want to rush through without fighting so you can beat it and get to the good parts. Delta Halo is kind of okay. It's surprisingly linear/claustrophobic for an outdoor section though. I was expecting more open spaces for the vehicle sections, not just being funneled through literal hallways (in some cases). I'm still annoyed that it took us away from Earth. And I didn't care much for High Charity. They managed to make an entire city planet feel like an empty mall. That's plenty liminal. The most interesting part of that entire area was the skybox, and we never even went down there to where the Covenant actually lived. Imagine the earth missions but now in Covenant territory with all their cool architecture and alien civilians running around on the streets. We played the worst, most boring part of that environment. It was a waste.
>>576821003Didn't they kill Splitgate just as it was getting attention so they could advertise Splitgate 2?
This blu-ray rip of Halo Legends is so good quality-wise, it feels great finally having it in the best quality possible (and with the original Japanese voice-over)
>>576821537>The Earth missions were the best part about 2.Then go play Call of Duty and shut the fuck up
>>576821583Servers got shutdown yeah
CE > (massive gap) > 3 > 2 > Reach > ODST3 > 2 = CE > Reach
>>576821712I already am
>>576821815What did she mean by this?
>>576821760our cheaply made game went viral and finally turned a profit, let's stop updating it and eventually turn the servers off so we can focus on making a sequel that plays nothing like the original game!!!!!!
3 > Reach > 2 > Marathon 2: Durandal >>>>>>> Marathon Infinity >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CE > Marathon
>noble hierarchs>surely you understand that once the newfags attacked--
nah
>>576821712Nah. I'll just play Halo CE or 3 while I wait for Ruby to fix Halo 2. He'll make the Arby/Covenant sections fun.
>>576822134>I wait for Ruby to fix Halo 2

>>576823192That’s just halo 1

This mint?

We'll make it.
I jizzed my pants when the Arbiter crashed his banshee like that in 2
>>576823354yeah it's almost like halo 3 ended where CE began and the whole thing is a king under the mountain allegory.you say it like halo 1 is a bad thing.>>576823461looks kinda kino until i saw whatever temu plasma pistol the arbiter is limpwristing.i was more talking about a new IP anyway since halo is kill and even if it isn't, it's never going to return to its roots that make it fun, which a spiritual successor could. you also avoid the whole getting sued for making a fan-made halo game by making it a new IP.you could also just make an unofficial official mod that replaces every asset with their halo equivalents.
>>576823192People have toyed with the concept but they're all fans like you working on things in their free time. I have seen very recent projects about remaking CE's levels, or creating a custom campaign with more effort pop up. We might have reached a new degree of fans deciding to make something of their own since 343 perished and their replacement isn't off to a stellar start. But even in the simplest Halo-friendly engine anything major will take time. It's almost been 20 years since Halo 3 and there's at least one series that more or less didn't get a new game until about 20 years had passed. If anything remarkable gets made we'll enjoy it once the time comes.
>>576824173>there's at least one series that more or less didn't get a new game until about 20 years had passedwhich is?
