SfP just had a lot of technical issues. Even if models and backgrounds were higher quality, how weird the character animations were still stood out, because of lack of motion capture. It didn't have motion capture for commus, like because of budget issues.In many ways, it was in a rough spot to begin with. Low budget, staff with no experience with 3D games, and ambitious scale on top. Not to mention how SC is to begin with. An extremely story heavy game, most players play it for story, and it took 5.5 years to come out. By then, new players will have too much enza context they're missing, and enza players have to migrate to playing two games at once to handle it. Have new developments in SfP and most of the enza playerbase, the main playerbase, will miss it, so SfP's story side got shafted, mostly ending up filler. It's a bad situation all around.It's still too early to mourn it like it's gone. SfP has stumbled every step of the way, but also recovered after doing so. The early produce mode focus got revamped, the story commus being in bad quality got addressed with V2 story reader, they added Episode 0 for new players, and Refractions as a whole gave enza players a reason to care about this, without messing up original storylines. They still care to try and do new things. Even the current state of it, it's to prolong it, keep it going as long as possible, so even if it'll never be as shiny and fashionable as Gaku, it'll still be able to serve a purpose to SC players.

We were stuck with just casting collection and nothing interesting happening. Now, there's the new solo songs to look forward to, the Axe8 stuff in enza, and Refractions being added to enza. So SfP took the backseat. It is a guess, of course, but my opinion is that this is the main reason SfP is taking a backseat. Reduced writing in it, so they can focus on enza writing properly, and no new songs in SfP, because we're getting new solo songs outside of it, plus a new set of albums for all units. Once they're done with it, and have more leeway, SfP will get some content.
