Maybe you didn't like the form of the difficulty when you could get screwed by bad colors and bad items in your act 1 vendors, but giving everyone white sockets made everyone progress noticeably faster. You don't have to fuck with your socket colors to do anything in the game, and if you do you probably just take your free 10% quality on your main gem. The game is just plain easy now, and it's not just about the chromes. There have been tons of changes in the past couple years that make the game easy.

The problem is that there's nothing difficult in the game until ubers. The entire adventure used to be a bit of a struggle but then they decided to streamline the ever loving shit out of the game and then throw in ubers to be like "see, it's a tough game still!". The game needs to be slowed down by 40% and be made more difficult all the way through. You think you won't want this but currently seasons feel like D3 seasons where there's no real reason to play more than a week. This will soon drop down to one weekend, just like D3 did. Some friction is good for the game. This isn't subjective. Also pausing ruined any sense of danger in hardcore.
