Still not the slightest of clues what is going on with these floating skellingtons
>>
To answer your question, no I have never played Deep Resonance. It was in FTB Infinity and I never got around to touching it.
>>
I didn't get the answer last time, so I'll ask again - I have read some stuff about how 1.21 is more optimized, performance-wise, than 1.20. Is that actually true?
>>
>>576863675
neoforge lets you use sodium and a few other formerly fabric exclusive performance boosting mods, which is pretty huge for performance. the game might be slightly more performant in vanilla than 1.20, but there were no major fixes like 1.20's lighting engine fix so.
>>
>>576863972
>neoforge lets you use sodium and a few other formerly fabric exclusive performance boosting mods
So absolutely fuck-all difference if you were already using fabric mods, then?
>>
>>576865260
if you were using the fabric loader, yeah. if you were using ai slop coded connectors or whatever then it would be a massive improvement.
but anyway yeah version chasing is retarded and pointless, essentially.
>>
>>576865413
Well, I do need to chose an version, ultimately, so I'd still rather pick whichever is the best performance wise.
>>
>>576865702
if you want nuversion and care about create aeronautics i recommend 1.21 neoforge, otherwise probably 1.20 forge. or if all the mods you want to play are on 1.20 fabric, use fabric instead.
>>
i'm getting a seemingly nonsensical compatibility error on 1.21.1 fabric with these mods:
Sodium 0.8.12
SodiumDynamicLights 1.0.9
the dynamiclights I downloaded as 1.0.10, but it loads in the game as 1.0.9. i have re-downloaded both multiple times, tried using the beta sodium 0.8.13 instead, it just doesn't work
any ideas?
>>
>>576865865
Nah, I don't care about Create. I just want to have the best possible performance mods + a few mods which seem to work on every version. I'll take whichever is better.
>>
>>576866357
You'll get more mods on 1.20.1 than on 1.21.
>>
>>576865945
>the dynamiclights I downloaded as 1.0.10, but it loads in the game as 1.0.9
Open the jar as if it were a zip. Then open fabric.mod.json.
Then change its version number or the version numbers of its dependencies.
Try to launch the game again and see if it crashes.

That being said, I hope you're not that one retard who isn't worthy of any help.
>>
>>576854676
Do you guys ever have naval battles?
>>
>>576865702
Choose whatever version has the content mods you want to play instead.
>>
>>576873612
As I said, the very, very few mods I want, outside of performance enhancers, are present for every version.

In the end, since 21 has Java 25, which I believe is generally more optimized, I suppose I'll go with that.

>fuck them and everyone that looks like them with a stick

Remember when mods just had a config file and you didn't need to look in a .jar for a json or yaml file or make a datapack or add a discord. Buts its a good thing you don't need 200 mods for stability and finishing all the half baked unfinished shit Mojang abandoned before I actually add anything else.

I'll still take modded over vanilla but fucking hell why is this aids now for so many mods.
>>
>>576854676
Oh shit so that drains the pool so players can safely build on the ship? That's fucking rad. The パナマ canal.
>>
>>576875661
At this point I just unzip the mod to figure out the datapack structure, and look for what existing modpacks are doing with the mod.
>>
>>576877124
Wasn't any in this case that I could find is the fucked up part. It was a you can make a datapack, but didn't find any. Jar can be edited to sort it out but its just such a hamfisted approach when storing relevant values in a config is pretty easy, or worst case if you need cross mod then a json file. This was Fabric Seasons, but its hardly the only offender and unlike Serene Seasons at least has the ability to change so its not always winter when you log into a server (why the doofus thought nobody would need to change timings is beyond me)

thank you for the pointer. unfortunately, I have only encountered further mysteries:
namely, the sodium mod.json has, itself, a "break"/ban-list of mods, and dynamiclights is present on it. removing its line from the .json causes a different crash that suggests there's some extra integrity-verifying stuff going on that I would've dug into more later...
if it didn't turn out that the original lambdadynamiclights appears to work just fine with sodium.

Not yet, but we will. Believe me we will.
For a future event serb I will collect some ship design blueprints and spawn them in. Ideally there will also be an AI controlled enemy fleet to battle. With the navigation table and radars they would be quite dangerous actually.
The question is then, would all the players each have a ship, or multiple players to each ship, not sure. Since operating the create big cannons is pretty demanding. You'd be hard pressed to steer the ship and also aim the cannons at the same time. Going further there could even be ammo loaders, gunners, artillery spotters, damage control, engine room all as individual roles besides the captain, but we can't pull those numbers on /mmcg/ serbs so there will need to be some automation.
>>
>>576909049
two big ships manned by 3 people each could have a fun fight possibly.
alternatively we all have individual planes with offenses controlled by a typewriter so we can all fight each other that way.
>>
>>576909212
You know what the problem is, it's that these vehicles are a massive time investment to build in survival, particularly the big cannons. It feels bad to fight with them knowing that they could just die in less than a minute, and repairing them is tedious as fuck. That's why I'm planning a serb where various vehicles can be spawned in with a toolgun, or ideally some kind of command block system. Everone would be playing in survival still but you wouldn't have the gear fear so much.
I have seen others use a mod that greatly nerfs damage dealt by big cannons which is another solution but it feels a bit lame I think.
>>
>>576909907
In vanilla aeronautics the mounted potato cannon can already launch melons and place them when they hit something, including other ships. It would only really work for planes, but it's a non destructive way to get planes out of the sky that only requires a little bit of cleanup.
If there was going to be destructive battles it would be best to just restore the ships at the end of it afterwards or something.
>>
>>576910090
That's a really fun solution for plane battles. Very nice. I'd be up for it. But we will do a proper battle of the Tsushima straights believe me, I have plans for that and much more.
>>
Are there any modpacks that are good for larping as a type-moon/fate Magus? I feel like this particular depiction of mages is kind of under represented in gaming. Most mage gameplay is very straightforward and ignores the cunning/resourcefulness that I feel would come with something as versatile as magic. I really enjoy how magi in the nasuverse are generally less powerful and more focused on research and arcana, and a lot of the uses of magic are very methodical. I feel like minecraft is the closest thing since I would like the sandbox elements and having a workshop, and it feels like it would best accomodate the fantasy, but a lot of the modpacks I've played feel too directionless or like they fall short. I know Mahoutsukai exists and is heavily fate inspired, but it isnt exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe I am too biased against newer packs, but a lot of my favorite mods are mostly pre 1.13 and I can never tell which packs feel like modded minecraft and which packs feel like theyre trying to be a different game entirely.
>>
> https://modrinth.com/mod/cacb
Anyone use this? I see high praise and it seems to fix a lot of things but not too sure. There's so many sable bugfix mods but this one seems the most comprehensive. I'm particularly interested in the async saves to avoid big sublevel saving pauses but from what I've seen you do still get those with this mod installed.
>>
>>576911887
Looks like vibesloppa
>>
>>576911887
looks like at best it does nothing, what likely happens is it makes things much worse in unpredictable ways because it's vibe coded slop, and at worst you've got a bitcoin miner installed on your pc now.
>>
>everyone always talks about stacking a dozen performance mods and how it makes a world of difference
>they're all for, like, 1.20 and above
I haven't played a pack above 1.12 yet. Does this mean that nuversionfags are playing at 1000 FPS with insane performance boosts, or are nu-versions so much worse than 1.7 and 1.12 that you suddenly need 5-6 performance mods just to make them playable?
>>
>>576911973
>>576912072
Agreed, unfortunately this is now very common. I don't see anything like a bitcoin miner in the code it's a load of mixins which is what you'd expect. Suppression of error spam also seems useful and a lot of these fixes seem sensible but maybe its all hallucinations, no clue.
>>
>>576874331
1.7.10 has Java 25 as well
>>
>>576885795
Nomifactory. I recommend hard mode, but if you really wanna just coast along then easy mode is even more casual
>>
>>576912501
>nuversionfags are playing at 1000 FPS with insane performance boosts
i mean yeah pretty much, vanilla + sodium and some things i've seen my frames go up to 1500 or something stupid. throw in your favorite mods and it gets lower, and especially with shaders but that's for different reasons, but generally nuversions seem more able to handle a lot more than 1.12 because of these great mods.
>>576912518
frankly i'm just waiting for aeronautics itself to update and fix a lot of bugs, or waiting for proper bug fix addons that rise above the sea of slop. a lot of things work completely fine for the moment, at least enough for me to do most of the things i want to do.
>>
>>576912518
The issue with vibesloppa is that if you pay for an actually top of the line model, they almost never hallucinate anymore and it might well be fixing real issues. Especially in 2026 now, there's been a ton of cases of LLMs fixing a bunch of bugs (even some important or longstanding ones) in open source projects, and I mean properly fixing and passing human code review and being accepted into the project.

But there's dozens of shitty models available which are a lot cheaper or even free, and those absolutely do hallucinate and write random shit. And there's simply no way to tell if the viber paid for quality slop or just shat out some free tier hallucinations that will fuck up your game.
>>
>>576912870
Easy solution, don't trust vibe coded slop at all. Ever.
>>
>>576913028
I fear that means turning oldversionfag and going back to 1.7.10 or 1.12 at this stage. 1.20 is mostly, but not fully safe. 1.21.1 is infested with this shit. Although you can't even tell with certainty really, when the mod description is LLM that doesn't necessarily mean the code is also. For the fuck sable mod it's also conceivable that the chink wrote the code and only used GPT for translating the descriptions. Usually it will all be completely AI of course.

Thank god the LLMs at least have their typical writing style with em dashes, bold font use and "not this, but that" writing which makes it easy enough to spot. Won't be long before there is no way of even telling anymore and at that point we might as well abolish ourselves.
>>
>>576910908
The research of Thaumcraft, the crafting and aesthetics of Witchery, and the nuanced spells of a parametric spellcraft mod like Psi. Maybe with rituals like Blood Magic or that magical rune mod. With a focus on preparation without automation, I guess? Modded minecraft really does lean pretty heavily into the factory simulator genre just because it's an open world and game mechanics are exploitable. Not being able to automate something makes scaling it up difficult. Though needing to form a circle of 6 other players to perform a powerful ritual could be pretty fun for multiplayer. For singleplayer maybe you could hand instruction manuals to coven witches or whatever. It's less the concept of automation that's contrary to this type of magic modpack, rather it's the aesthetics of a factory that don't mesh well. Botania manages automated magic with decent aesthetics.

Anyhow, you could maybe try to make a (1.7.10?) magic modpack with the aforementioned mods, but integrate and trim them to be a monolitic experience? Thaumcraft in its entirety leans towards steampunk arteficery. Maybe you could build a pack around Spectrum's research system instead?

They definitely used the cheap ones. Maybe they stole anthropic tokens, but probably not.

>>576913028
>>576915204
It is the dilemma. As time goes on, AI will have more of a presence in programming. Both in bulk, and for incremental streamlining by competent programmers.
I think the only answer is another AI arms race. Just as AI were used to detect deepfakes and GPT essays, AI should be used to audit code changes. Both for excessive use of AI, and code that actually does what you want it to do. Shell out for the tokens whether you support its use or not, prole.
>>
>>576919484
>Shell out for the tokens whether you support its use or not, prole
I think I'm going to stick with 1.12 and real human code, thanks. Absolutely abysmal how shitty modrinth and curseforge, and well, really everything is getting. Too expensive to build a pc ever again, and my reward for already owning a pc is having all my favorite things online be raped and tortured into unusability.

with the 1.21.1 port of TFC Butchercraft I've elected to add a separate farm next to my vineyard, just a short jaunt down the road.
I will keep cattle and horses here. I have sheep now, too, but I want to keep those at my vineyard as their wool is useful for my purposes.

I eventually want to build a farm on the opposite bank as well, and connect them all with a main road running on the riverbed (crossing with a bridge south of my vineyard.

>AI should be used to audit code changes. Both for excessive use of AI, and code that actually does what you want it to do.
Everyone already does this. You have AI write the code and then AI reviews the code, finds issues, and then AI fixes the issues, and then AI re-reviews the code, then you have AI audit the code at a high level, and you have AI look at the code architecture to make sure it doesn't need a redesign, etc. etc.

Well at least if you're actually trying to make quality vibeslop. Obviously someone can just go "ok chatgpt free tier write me X" and dump whatever garbage comes out directly onto curseforge with zero checks, but equally you could always have a pajeet hand-write utter garbage code with abominable quality too, it all comes down to whether you want to do things "properly" or push out the shittiest slop ASAP.

Why does modding for this game have to be so frustrating. Goddamn it's always something. I struggle through the incredibly user hostile Create Big Cannons and when you finally think you've got something. I fire ONE shell from the Heavy autocannon from Military Supplement and it bricks the world. Just sends it to a full on crash loop. hi, im a total noob at minecraft and I have no idea how to host multiplayer servers for mods and such.
Can someone tell me how to set up an online server to play the original Dropper map in multiplayer with other ppl?
I tried uploading the map to an aternos server but I kept spawning/respawning in places outside the map itself. I assume it has something to do with command blocks or certain configs?
>>
>>577031413
you should be able to set the global spawn point with a command
>>
>>577030039
I dunno man I just install my favourite greg pack and press play and it works without issues for the next 2000 hours
>>
>>577031413
premade maps aren't mods, you're looking for /mcg/
but you should host servers locally when possible
>>
>>577031413
https://modrinth.com/mod/e4mc
try this if you can, you'll also have to watch a guide on how to get fabric installed but i'm sure you can handle that. it's easier than setting up a local dedicated server (and a lot worse, but it should work perfectly fine for playing the dropper map with friends)
Otherwise look into setting up a dedicated server locally, it's not the hardest thing in the world.

I have no reservations towards slopping a niche backport for personal use when mod devs have no interest in going back and are outright hostile to people who ask for ports. The alternatives are giving up or learn how to code in fucking Java, a herculean time sink in itself, for a dead modloader to boot.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the source code for Immersive Portals for Forge for 1.20.1, and all I managed to slopcode using Vista's mirrors as a reference was a mod that turns entities into a greenscreen to the skybox before the LLM panicked and started looping. I probably need a better LLM to do this properly.

That said backporting vista is what I'd do too. Try one of the higher end chink models, alternatively chatgpt luna (or sol if you wanna drop the dosh). There's definitely a world of difference in capability between a high tier model and a cheap/free one nowadays.

I still think that backporting a known good mod that works well on 1.21, is probably a better strategy than trying to fix a known shitty mod with a bunch of weird bugs and incompatibilities.

LLMs are very good at operating by example, so if you say "implement exactly the same thing as A, except adapted for this version B" they will likely succeed, while if you say "uhh fix all the bugs here" it's a much more open-ended task and much more annoying to check to make sure it's REALLY fixed and doesn't just fuck up again in slightly different conditions.

>is probably a better strategy than trying to fix a known shitty mod with a bunch of weird bugs and incompatibilities.
I just need the mirror to work and there's only a few hiccups when it comes to entities rendering. I don't need stacked dimensions or fancy portals with no transition and I'm not running the game with shaders either. I should be able to hopefully just trim the fat off if I can manage to make the mirrors work.

>LLMs are very good at operating by example [...]
You say that and yet my attempt to backport Vista ended up with something that completely broke the rendering engine for entities. But then again, maybe that was just bad luck with the LLM.

In either case I'll probably have to mess around with this for a few more hours.

Has there been a single Aeronautics modpack that actually required you to build moving vehicles/contraptions to complete specific goals?
I know there's the sky island one but flying around from A to B in a straight line isn't particularly exciting, was thinking more of having to traverse dangerous terrain or sieging a fortress.
>>
>>577086380
no. building aeronautics contraptions is its own reward. if you just want to go from point A to point B even vanilla has better solutions
>>
>>577086478
>if you just want to go from point A to point B
That precisely what I said I didn't want.
Think Bad Piggies or Besiege type gameplay (maybe mining fatigue applied in that area so you can only use the contraption you've built).

>>
>>577076446

>>
>>577092968
I don't think the scenario in which AI is bubble would be meaningfully different from how things are now. AI gets shoved into everything, it sucks, and I don't go out of my way to use any of it. However, it does get implemented into various things that everyone uses (search engines, primarily) while people continue to wonder why those things consistently get worse year after year.
Minecraft.
>>

There's a mod for aeronautics that adds shipments you have to bring to villages, don't know if it's any good and forgot the name of it.
>>
>>577086715
How would that even look?
You get a small shipment of blocks and you have do some task while controlling the contraption from elsewhere?
>>
>>577094093
>>577094469
https://modrinth.com/mod/create-aeronautics-delivery-required
i believe it's this mod. you look at a board that has random items it wants delivered to random places in a certain amount of time, choose one to do, fill a chest up with that item, fly your helicopter or airship to that place, get the chest with the items into the delivery field, then return back to base and collect your reward.
the mod also allows you to buy things from a market using the coins you get from delivering, and you collect them by flying your airship to that spot and picking up a package then taking it back to your base.
the config allows you to add any items you want to the buy and sell lists, and there's a p2p market system in place for multiplayer servers.
>>
>>577086380
I've been thinking a bit about this. I can think of a few things that act to encourage vehicle construction, rated approximately from shit to good:
>just make the world really big (e.g. large flat plains for speeding about with cars)
>floating islands or other very vertical terrain (e.g. skyserb)
>non-renewable resources needed in bulk larger than inventory capacity (e.g. large ore veins)
>otherwise impassable terrain (e.g. layer of sky full of cloud blocks you can move through but not break)
>PvE mob spam requiring enclosed vehicles to move safely (e.g. zombie apocalypse)
>PvE infection requiring you to not stay in one area for too long (e.g. parasite mod)
>PvE highly mobile mobs that attack unprotected or insufficiently fast travellers (e.g. dragons)
>terrain that's exceedingly difficult to build through (e.g. a big cave to fly through)
>thing that can only be moved as a vessel, cannot be picked up (e.g. levitite geodes, NPC shipping containers)
>requirement for mobile machines (e.g. resource exclusive to a mining drill)

That layer of impassable cloud blocks is what I've got my eyes on. With Thick Air to make it toxic, and an altered Aeronautics air density function to allow skyroot wood or whatever to make boats that float atop the cloud layer.
Because besides things to incentivse use of vessels, I think a pack that incentivises use of different types of vessels for different applications is what makes a pack open-ended and creative. Instead of a one size fits all giga-airship approach.

The problem with vehicle is that when you build one you will have less incentive to build another
Also they are nigh-invicible
>>
>>577108808
>you will have less incentive to build another
Meh. If you make a large airship that contains a lot of your storage and create machinery that's great, but it probably isn't very maneuverable. So you could then make a small helicopter to land on the airship and take off from it, and you can use that for general purpose exploration off the main ship.
Maybe it isn't fast enough for transport between two developed points with runways, so you make a plane.
Maybe neither are convenient enough for movement on the ground, so you make an ATV.
None of these can mine so you also make a mining vehicle. Maybe you'd even need a helicopter or airship big enough to transport that mining vehicle too.
Also if you don't have the addon that lets you box up airships, you might repeat this sequence across dimensions. And even if you do have that addon you might want to make specialized ships for those other dimensions anyway.

Any tech mod or addon for a tech mod that adds a cool gun that grows in power as you progress through the mod. I’m mostly talking about the dwarfpunk laser rifle from embers but also the nailgun from some BC addon from 1.5.2

I can't. Or actually I can. I fully can and will. Fuck this shit mod jesus christ. Why does it look so cool when others play it and then turn around and just completely screw me over.
It needs serious rebalancing too, does way too much block damage and way too little entity damage. The famous QF-18 spread lethal shrapnel shot in a 30 x 200 cone shape, whereas the shrapnel shells in this don't kill anything and the spread is fucking tiny. I'm firing at a big clump of zombies and they just shrug it off. But of course it does destroy dirt down to the stone level which field guns just didn't touch at all, it's stupid, how am I supposed to larp like this.

What can you do with the Power Grid power, in the context of Aero? Are the servos useful? I imagine being able to run wires to motors is more convenient than running shafts everywhere, but I'd also want electric speed controllers to make speed regulation easier.

focusing on waterwheels this time instead of windmills because I think they look a bit cooler. Also I can fit them nice and snug up against my base rather than ran a bunch of wires up a hill to a remote windmill farm. I also want to build some enderio solar panels at some point and maybe just line them up on the roof of the energy plant (far left structure in this pic that is currently just a platform)

>crafting stuff with ae2 and a greg multiblock
>crafts are 1 tick each, but there's no parallel
>there's no space for the parallel multiblock version, but enough for another 3x3 one
>sandwich the pattern provider between the two input busses

>this also works on 2 fancy ebfs (has big parallels, so crafts takes more 1 second)
>queue a big craft
>works fine for the first couple thousand items
>ae2 eventually shits itself with this somehow
I'm guessing ae2 can't keep up with 2 1tick crafts at once per pattern provider and just gets confused and gives up. The cpu says the items are being crafted, but there's nothing in the input or output busses. The craft just stalls.

Tunas require constant forward locomotion to pump fresh water through their gills, aka they cannot breath if they stay in place like so, so this is torturous for the fish.
>>
>>577232797
i think the bubbles imply water is being pulled towards the magma block, thus fresh water is moving past the tuna as he spins. this should achieve a similar effect to swimming forward and therefore the tuna is perfectly fine.
>>
>>577233038
If it ever stop swimming, the natural frying pan will pull it down and start cooking it's flesh from the outside. So beside the motivation to keep breathing, it needs to do so to avoid hell fire, neat.

Blaze burners are my single most favorite design from any mod because it shows how well Create's devs understand automation in a fantasy setting like Minecraft's.
Fulfilling the expansionist dream takes more than making magic computer boxes out of metal ingots and redstone. The point lies not in destroying the natural and magical to replace it with man-made and familiar, but to take what's there and subjugate it.
You could replace chickens with automatic egg printers to achieve your desired output, but where's the fun in that? An industry that isn't built on suffering is like soup with no salt. Hence why instead one should opt for selective breeding, inhumane living conditions and automated meat grinders.
That's why I wish to see less computers and circuits and more Flinstones-esque designs that aim to exploit Minecraft's magical elements in their purpose.
>>
>>577176852

Perish the thought! Begone thee, foul demon, never again trouble these innocent folk with such wicked dreams. Have not our labours been enough? Have we not braved the wildest and most inhospitable lands for the mere scraps of automation? Yet now you ask us to scour the mires, tread the marshy grounds and be swallowed up in bogs? One cannot reasonably expect the humble autist to engage in such a mighty quest.

I'd easily trade it over searching for a blaze spawner. Also from today you will misread frogport as frogporn, you're welcome

The problem is that nature is limited in what it can provide. We used oxen for plowing, sheep for wool and chickens for eggs, but we wanted more, more and more, and there were not enough oxen and the sheep did not grow wool fast enough. So we built our own mechanical plowers and we built our own synthetic wool, and now the oxen roam free again and sheep are kept in comfortable conditions for more expensive fabrics.
And we haven't found a way to make artificial eggs yet so we're cramming chickens into ever tighter cages to make more, more, more eggs. As soon as we can remove the chicken from the process, and just make our own eggs ourselves, chickens will immediately go back to roaming on free range pastures as a hobby farm animal, no longer feeding the industrial machine with their suffering.

Blaze burners are nice when a few blazes is the limit of technology your mod provides. But they can never replace the heat output of an electric blast furnace, once you start itching for more advanced alloys and smelting.
