I had to work offshore for a couple months and couldn't/didn't really want to bring my desktop. So I brought a PS5 I still had laying around. Installed Skyrim and fucked around with some of the mods on there not really expecting much.I ended up with 115 installed mods. Officially external assets aren't allowed but unofficially they're everywhere. External sound files like Sounds of Skyrim and AI voice mods work, HD armor/weapon mods, custom spell mods like Kittytails, even scuffed Character Creation overhauls. To my surprise the entire Ennai suite (Ordinator, Wintersun, Wildcat, etc) all work. There's a guy who ported Morrowloot and even a Requiem-light. They even made their own version of MCM to support changing settings. The crutch is of course no use of external programs and a hard-cap of 1 GB on downloaded mods. The CC UI is also pretty dogshit. Still I'm fairly impressed, it will never reach PC levels of modability but for a solid Vanilla+ playthrough it's not bad at all. Haven't crashed once in 100+ hours either.

I played the Heart of Winterroot - To be honest it was just alright. One might say painfully okay. If I were less kind and more honest I might even call it aggressively mediocre.Stop me if you've heard this one before; due to (insert plot reason) you have to go out to collect 3 things from 3 different locations to defeat the (insert bad guy) and stop le tragedy from happening. I would tell you the specifics but I honestly forgot them as soon as I finished the quest sadly. Also why is the "collect 3 things thing so common anyway? Do they learn this in game design school?Regarding balance, it's a bit wonky. The 3 Spriggan bosses you have to kill are all quite easy to beat, if they had different mechanics between them I wouldn't be able to tell you because they all died in 2 spell casts (on adept difficulty with Wildcat to be fair). They're also all surrounded by 3 spellcasters which made them even more repetitive. Then we get to the last dungeon where you get to kill hallways filled with Dwemer machines, capped off by a boss that summons 4 bears in a square around you and is a powerful mage himself. It struck me as a bit spammy and it was pretty difficult on my level 16 character, certainly a step up from before, but I (barely) managed. After the last bear is killed you're also attacked by another Dwemer automaton and another right after, which I think was a bit unnecessary. I wasn't even allowed to leave until I killed the very last automaton either. The reward for all of this is a katana which does frost damage and has a chance to paralyze targets weak to frost, not very worth it to me but at least it'll sell for a decent amount. Only the quest reward bugged out and I didn't get anything even on a reload. Might be due to my load order though. No real choices to speak of either. All in all, not sure if I'd recommend it, unless you just want more content no matter the context or quality, then it's incredible.
