Every DoT job has an ogcd damage skill (Star, Assize, Psyche, Energy Drain, and Bard's misc. ogcds like Sidewinder). It's flavorful and plays into a job fantasy, like Bard having poisoned arrows.OGCDs also just frees up action budget by gating the damage over time. You could in theory just have an ogcd that does one big nuke with a 10sec cd that equates to roughly the same damage, but what about vs multiple targets that are spread out? DoTs add flexibility where a single output ogcd with a cd wouldn't. You could just remove the cd and make it permamently uptimeable, but at that point you're adding another Glare to White Mage.
