Duelists battled it out in 7 Swiss Rounds, competing to secure a spot in Sunday’s Top 64 of the Genesys Main Event. Today, 739 registered Duelists will start over in a brand new tournament – the Advanced Main Event!Today’s tournament will use the Advanced Format Forbidden & Limited List. Unlike Duels played in the Genesys Format, the Advanced Format permits Duelists to use every Summoning mechanic available, including Link Summoning and Pendulum Summoning. In addition, since there are no point restrictions placed on Deckbuilding, Decks that players use to compete are generally stronger and more capable of taking decisive victories.Kewl Tune Decks appeared to dominate the Advanced Format at the recent North America World Championship Qualifier, but Ryan Yu’s Sky Striker Deck ultimately took home the trophy. Lots of Decks using the new cards based around Light and Darkness Ritual saw some success as well, which is likely to inspire more Duelists to experiment with that recent theme from Chaos Origins. In addition, the new Legendary ARC-V Decks, which were just released on August 7th, include cards that bolster the Lunalight, Speedroid, and Odd-Eyes themes. We’ll find out this weekend whether the new cards in these themes will be enough to allow Decks built around them to compete with top contenders in the Advanced Format.
