It goes a long way to giving each character their own identity and role, which is something I really liked about Sonic games over Mario games and a big reason why I hated how they took 06 as a reason to depreciate everyone but Sonic. It took out a whole dimension of the series for me, and it’s never quite been the same. It’s to the point that I actually played that one fangame Sonic World that tries to follow in Adventure’s footsteps, but it’s SO janky and poorly programmed, and the devs turned out to be faggots on top of that. It’d be really nice if Neptunia could pull off something like that. Neptune, Blanc, Noire and Vert all having their own story paths and perspectives if not styles. Again, VII TRIED this but it was just too halfassed, didn’t really do enough to elucidate each character and/or nation, and converged back on Neptune way too early. Yeah, the Sonic Adventure stories all converge on Sonic eventually, but not until the very end.
