FACT: Minecraft was better before The Adventure Update
>>
>>578103663
He's so powerful he can even use lava to char wood into charcoal or perfectly cook a steak
>>
tried Allumeria
overall while it doesn't beat Minecraft it has some gameplay elements that I wish could be ported over
>bigger inventory
>painting blocks
>bigger stack sizes
>wheel system for changing block shape
also caving is way more fun with the fact that you find crates and chests with loot to keep you going indefinitely
will be buying
>>
>>578156420
>>bigger inventory
>>painting blocks
>>bigger stack sizes
>>wheel system for changing block shape
these would all worsen minecraft and i'm glad they will llikely never come to vanilla.
>will be buying
lmao
>>
>>578156562
how come? how would bigger stack sizes worsen minecraft?
>>
>>578157823
the inventory is completely fine as it is, making it bigger would be cumbersome. and, it wouldn't shut the idiots that complain minecraft having an "inventory up" at all, because they'd fill up the bigger inventory with garbage and then complain online about it not being big enough still. no matter what size it is. it's a bit like the highway problem, adding more lanes just causes more lanes to be filled by idiots.
>>
>>578157823
oh, stack sizes. 64 is iconic, making it 99 would almost be acceptable but it would be a lot more soulless, and making it bigger than 99 would look ugly in inventories and worsen readability at a glance for items. at most i'd say up ender pearls, eggs, snowballs, and signs to 64 instead of 16, there's not much reason for them to stay at 16 anymore, or at all ever really.
>>
>>578156562
I will never understand fanboys like you. Bigger inventory is the only option that wouldn't really solve anything. Better inventory management, like the one in Terraria, would vastly improve vanilla Minecraft, but because of people like you it will never come to vanilla.
>>
>>578158373
>I will never understand fanboys like you
i dont like most of the things numojang has added. the inventory just isn't a problem, though.
>Better inventory management, like the one in Terraria
elaborate. terraria is an entirely different game and the inventory works for different reasons.
also even idiots that play terraria think terraria has an inventory problem, which is exactly what would happen if you change minecraft's inventory in any way. people who can't organize or can't understand bundles will always exist and will always lose their shit when they don't have infinite inventory slots to make up for their retardation.
>but because of people like you it will never come to vanilla.
good.

Do you people seriously think adding more junk is better than just allowing players to simply paint blocks? How? How is having millions of different blocks better than a paintbrush? Give me a few blocks with different textures and allow me to paint them instead of adding each one of then as an individual entity. It's so retarded.
>>
>>578158625
>Do you people seriously think adding more junk is better than just allowing players to simply paint blocks?
Yeah, significantly better. Those all have unique textures btw.
>>
File: file.png (29 KB, 315x435)
29 KB PNG
>>578158625
This is a prime example of the stupidity of Minecraft. Let's just add 1000 new blocks instead of just 1 with a unique texture and then simply allow the player to paint it.
>>
>>578158914
>only add white concrete
>this has solved the inventory problem, now instead of carrying 16 stacks of purple concrete you must carry 8 stacks of concrete and 8 stacks of purple paint, and click on every block you place with paint.
oh, or you paint them in the inventory? thus making purple concrete blocks?
you are so insanely retarded it's not even funny. never be a game designer.
>>
>>578159026
the paint feature we're talking about makes you use a single paint roller item on already placed blocks
painting costs you no dye and it has no durability
in Minecraft terms they could just do something like BTA's paint brush where one dye nets you like 8 blocks, it still reduces inventory clutter a little
>>
>>578159652
or you could just keep it the same way it has always been, the way that works perfectly fine, and the way that is significantly better than any paint system you could come up with.
>>
>>578159754
yeah at this point I agree it's too late to change, but it's hardly "better"
>>
>>578159919
"no you dont understand, cluttering your inventory and hotbar MORE with a paintroller item is totally better, AND also making you click twice on each block you place is better, and breaking purple blocks giving you white blocks is totally cool, AND AND i also like radial menus that make you click a million times to get a stair block and then switch back instead of just scrolling your fucking mouse wheel"
yeah alright.
also terraria has colored blocks, many blocks that share the same texture but have different colors. just so you know.
>>
>>578159026
>>578159754
You should play other games, anon. Candles have worked perfectly fine for a long time, but then came electricity and it turns out it was a better option in the long run.

You've been eating the same shit for so long you're used to it and fail to see the benefits of change.

This is much better than the shit Mojang uses in Minecraft.
https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Paints

But I do kinda agree with >>578159919 in that it's a bit late. It could still be implemented, but it would make a lot of blocs obsolete and would force Mojang and M$ to actually think and put some effort into this game for once, so it's never going to happen.
>>
>>578160084
>You've been eating the same shit for so long you're used to it and fail to see the benefits of change.
You sound like the type to promote LLMs and shit. So, no thanks.
>This is much better than the shit Mojang uses in Minecraft.
It really isn't. And it's for an entirely different game that has different needs. Minecraft is not terraria and the appeals and aesthetics and building playstyles are entirely different.
>put some effort into this game for once
lol. lmao. it's very easy to fuck up the game in terrible ways like what you're suggesting, so it does take conscious effort to avoid doing it and i'm shocked they have been able to for so long.
>>
>>578160238
Anon, take Mojang's dong out of your mouth. It's OK to realize they fucked up and implementing what is an objectively better system is a bit late. It's OK to play shitty games. We're both here and we're both playing Minecraft at the end of the day. You don't have to be such a fanboy and defend bad decisions and bad game design.
>>
>>578160446
I play all sorts of different games. Good games, like terraria, not shitty minecraft clones like allumeria that miss the point and are shit. Minecraft is a unique game and it's made incredibly well and it's design is incredibly good, and changing it to be like other games is such an incredibly shit idea. I don't even understand how someone could come to the conclusion that taking away things that make minecraft minecraft would be good for minecraft unless they were genuinely retarded.
>>
>>578160035
>cluttering your inventory MORE
yeah nigga sure a single tool clutters the inventory more than bringing along different amounts of the same block but colored differently (they can't stack with eachother so a single stack of the same block takes up 4 inventory slots)
axes and pickaxes clutter the inventory o algo
>making you click twice
yeah because you obviously just HAVE to color each block right after you place it, you can't finish your build and then hold right click to paint the different sections
>radial menus that make you click a million times
yeah because it's not like you can just hold a button and hover over a menu of 8 (eight) different shapes, too complex for you
what dogshit arguments dude
>>
>>578160553
>Minecraft is a unique game
That is true. Finally something we both agree on.

On my current deep revisit to the game in a while and I really appreciate the updates to caves. I find way fewer dead ends and way more entrances from the surface and even when I don't find structures there's so many openings and pathways that it almost feels overwhelming, in a good and exhilarating way. Even when I know I'm super unlikely to die I feel like there's a real risk and sense of adventure, it's nice

>>
>>578156420
>caving is way more fun
Meh, monsters never stop spawning, which is fucking annoying.
>loot to keep you going indefinitely
I've looted so much shit so many times that despite the (much) bigger inventory, I've had to TP home more than once. I wouldn't say that was a satisfying experience.
Right now I'm playing modded Minecraft. Say I find a modded mineshaft (a big ass thing), first I need to secure it. Then I'll branch out everywhere, looking for hidden paths and loot.
At some point I WILL be full, and I will have to backtrack home, coming back later to fully loot the mineshaft. I may need to repeat this several times.
With the semi-openness of the mineshaft and cave sounds, tension builds up naturally. You don't feel on edge, but you know you can get jumped whenever.
Now in Allumeria while you have some sort of underground structures that look like mineshafts, they're not exactly interesting to explore outside the (too many) "floating" platforms that contain workstations and loot. They don't feel like a "whole" structure either, if that makes sense. I honestly feel like they go on forever.
And with monsters always spawning, you don't exactly have time to take in your surroundings. So it's non-stop running around, fighting, breaking chests, TP home. Number of times you'll feel in actual danger: 0. You are kept busy, not challenged.
I dunno, maybe I'm not ADHD enough for that kind of gameplay.
>will be buying
Me too. I think it can only improve.
>>
>>578165626
There is no inventory problem. There is a block-bloat problem.
>>
>>578092723
automation games like factorio and its ilk (modded minecraft gets towards this but thats not really what people mean when they say "minecraft"), and paradox games would be the biggest two that come to mind. you have to be very autistic to get anywhere in KSP, but i dont think it has the same reputation as the prior mentions. ive never met an OSRS player who wasnt massively on the spectrum
>>
>>578180667
You're focusing on the wrong thing. We need some way of converting blocks/regions to another biome, that's the only way to fix it
>>
>>578183983
OSRS isn't exactly autistic, though.
It's just "repeat X so numbers can go up."
I'm still looking for an offline OSRS. pls help. Melvor Idle is shit, btw. I really like the world and writing, desu.
>>
>>578193118
>OSRS isn't exactly autistic though
>it's just (describes activity only an autist would enjoy)
curious.
t. 3000 hours in osrs.

melvor idle is shit, the best offline osrs is osrs.
>>
>>578193310
>it's just (describes activity only an autist would enjoy)
this kek
pokemon shiny hunting is massively autistic (at least formerly, now shinies are free as fuck) because no one else has the patience to sit around doing something massively tedious for tens of hours to get a slightly different looking pokemon that can be obtained in seconds through "illegitimate" means

OSRS is pokemon shiny hunting but its the entire game
>>
>>578194717
there's 2 halves of doing the same thing over and over again for many hours, one is for chasing after an rng drop (like shiny hunting) and one is purely to make a number go up with no rng involved whatsoever. both are enjoyed almost purely by autists, and osrs has both of them in their purest forms, through pet hunting or boss drop hunting, and pure skilling.
i spent 700 hours chopping trees to get a fox pet at 95 million woodcutting xp, the expected rate is about 30 million xp i think.
>>
>>578195190
ive never been that big on RS (somewhat before my time), but i did have a brief rs3 stint at the behest of a friend whod been playing it forever

all i did was fish. just hung out at the fishing place 24/7 til it got fishing 99 (or 120? i dont remember if it was one that had shit up to 120 or not) and the fishing pet
>>
>>578193310
But I don't want to give Jewgex my money... they're so greedy, man.
>>
>>578195491
ok yeah that's fair, i havent played in a long time and you really shouldn't give them a dime. there's really nothing quite like osrs though sadly, you could try a private server but they range from good quality and dead to horrible quality and active. though maybe you could live with it being dead if all you want is solo scape for free.

I've been meaning to ask here what Minecraft would look like if it were more like OSRS. I never played OSRS but pretty much every boy my age during primary school did. Also WOW.
>>
>>578196993
>I've been meaning to ask here what Minecraft would look like if it were more like OSRS
ive always just thought of hypixel skyblock as minecraft runescape
>>
>>578197109
skyblock is just runescape without any of what makes osrs good and all of what makes rs3 bad pretty much.
>>578196993
i guess it'd just have skills or something? minecraft combat isn't all that interesting and wouldn't be improved with skills, and i can't see many of the other aspects of the game improving with having skilling requirements either. sandbox games dont mesh too well with leveling systems i think.
>>
>>578196993
OSMC would basically be like if Mojang were to make an official version of those 'Better Than [XYZ]' mods like the old version of Better Than Wolves with some Better Than Adventure flavoring.

they'd use the beta-era codebase as a starting point, clean it up, and branch off from there. I think it'd definitely start with a focus on the more survival and progression elements of the game, adding new ore types, weapons, enemies. There'd be a lean towards the harder difficulties in terms of focus.
>>
>>578196993
If progression was tied to grinding, not necessarily limited by resources but the actions done by the player, then Minecraft would feel more like RS. It could be controlled by blocks mined or an XP system, doesn't need to be skills and levels. The rewards would be unlocking crafting recipes, tool usage, building blocks etc. Imagine being limited to oak wood, progressing into birch and then spruce. Farms would have inherit an drawback of not gaining stat-XP without direct player interaction, but it would also open the door for new farm designs. I'd like to see how stat-progression in a sandbox game like Minecraft would turn out, but perhaps it would go against what makes the game fun.
>>
>>578198601
A solo autist already proven you can make something decent out of the old codebase but you have to be clever about it:
https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/1294926-themastercavers-world
This one is an anti-farms sperg tho but imagine the possibilities
>>
>>578180667
I haven't played in the snapshots what's the problem with dappled forests?
>>
>>578203291
they spawn incredibly rarely, like ice spikes level of rarity, and replace plains so they'll pretty much always border plains and not forests. and they're almost always incredibly small. so you'll likely almost never see one unless you go looking for them, and if you do find one it'll likely be tiny.

why not
>>
I've been split for days between playing BTA, b1.7.3. or modern. I just create worlds back on each and delete them. How did you guys settle?
>>
>>578258897
i've been too spoiled by modern niceties, i want to make large scale builds that i think look cool and i would find it a lot more tedious to do it on beta rather than more fun. i played on the xbox360 but i have no nostalgia for old java versions, so it doesn't really do that for me either.
whichever one you find more fun playing, or could see yourself still playing a hundred hours in or a thousand hours in really.
>>
>>578259136
I too get excited about sinking thousands of hours in a world. I love watching world tours on Youtube. I just need to make up my damn mind lol
>>
I'm testing my new mod. I was so sick of half implemented barely more than visual season mods.

It makes the world an actual changing ecosystem. You have to plan to survive the winters because food is actually scarce and actually matters.

Crops have realistic growth windows. Cattle needs to be taken care of. fields need to be fertilized. shelters need to be build for winter. food spoils and can be preserved. You need to dress for winter, or you'll freeze on cold days. Realistic hours of daylight for each season, so autumn and winter are brutal.

The world actually adapts to the season. Flowers and tall grass grows and decays. leaf litter drops down from trees in autumn.

I added zero new blocks because I hate when modpacks do that.
>>
>>578229726
Stacks of 64 are OK. The only stacks that are a problem are those that do not get up to 64.
The inventory size itself is OK. I never felt like I needed more space.

I'd rather them focus on other QOL improvements, honestly.
>>
>>578265080
All building blocks and items should be 64, thrown items should be bumped to 32, and potions should be 16. That'd already help a ton. I don't get why signs are still 16, it doesn't make any sense with the rest of the game
>>
>>578269130
Agree.
>>
>>578269130
i think 16 is just a tad too much for potions and 8 would be a bit more "fair", but i also don't like the idea of adding new stack sizes to the game. which is also why i'm not a huge fan of throwables being raised to 32, they might as well go to 64. same with pots being raised they might as well go to 16. or, my favorite mod approach is to just have a big flask that's unstackable but holds multiple doses of potions, could be any number you want then really.
>>
>>578270278
32 is already accepted as half a stack, so I don't think that'd feel out of place. I'd rather have 64, but that's a harder sell if Mojang looks at this as a balance problem and 64 ender pearls would just be "too much". I also don't think potions stacking would be much of an issue. Most people don't seem to use them currently, and in PvP minigames you're more limited to how many you're given or can find, rather than how well they stack. I think increasing the stack count would make more people use them, just because they'd be easier to carry around. It's gathering the ingredients that should be the limiting factor in singleplayer, not fiddling around with shulker boxes because they don't stack. Not that I wouldn't happily settle for 8, but a quarter stack feels more appropriate somehow
>>
>>578206095

64 stack is iconic enough to MC even if it's just a coding quirk and not a MC exclusive.
The inventory most certainly can be expanded on already. When you get down to building it's not nearly enough
Alternatively we could have an interface that lets you pick if the block is a stair/wall/slab ect before placing it. but mojang is very anti-ui because other mobile/console platforms. Look how much drama they caused with the bundle which is as simple as it gets to implement. Another option would be a chisel type of deal like terraria has letting you edit the shape of a block after placing it
Whatever the case is there's a big inventory problem while building, there's too many blocks now each with their own shape set of stairs/slabs ect. Even with shulkers the process of building is very very tedious. It's a building game it should not be this problematic, even the creative mode menu is extremely limiting, you have to preset multiple hotbars for it to feel smooth and that's nowhere near enough space for all the blocks

64 is iconic, but I don't think anyone cares about the 27 slots of a chest. This would be a perfect situation to increase each row to 10 slots, which would also give us one more hotbar slot to work with. I think everyone would appreciate a small buff to chests and shulkers
>>
>>578281340
alright, i probably wouldn't hate that actually. a few more slots in chests and shulkers would be fine.
>>
Why isn't there a backpack which gives you a double chest worth of inventory in it?
It would replace your elytra so it would help nerf that.

>but shulker boxes!!
Both have their own uses still. There's no harm in having more options for fixing the inventory problem in the game. It's a more fantasy-like solution to shulkerboxes too, what kind of exploration fantasy doesn't have carry bags
>>
they should let you take stuff out of shulkers in your inventory like you can with bundles
>>
my inventory fix ideas
>Add new Deep Pockets enchantment for pants that has three levels. Each level adds another row to the inventory
>Backpack that can be worn instead of a chestplate to give you an extra side inventory
>Can middle click an empty space on your hotbar on a block to pull that item out of a shulker box in your inventory if you have no more of that item in your inventory
>Add ender bundle that will automatically add items to itself instead of the inventory when picked up, if one of the item is already in there
>The quiver should be added back into the game to hold your different arrow types, and you could quickly switch between arrow types using a hotkey or weapon wheel
>A new end game item should be added to store all your weapons/tools and you could quickly switch between them using a hotkey or weapon wheel
>Add a chisel which can turn blocks into their other forms (stairs, slabs, and walls) after they have already been placed. You can still craft stairs, slabs, and walls the normal way if you prefer
>>
>>578282457
It's dumb there isn't even a hover preview for all the contents of a shulker or bundle. That's the bare basics of what it should be doing.
Wdym I have to dump the entire bundle or place the shulker to check what's in that? It's meant to help with ease of inventory why is it so troublesome
>>
>>578283851
the vanilla way is to have cumbersome, obtuse solutions to problems. if it were too easy and had no friction, like most backpack mod implementations, it would not be vanilla.
see also: adding shit like the happy ghast or nautilous. instead of adding enchantments or items that allow you to hover or swim faster, you have to tard wrangle entities.

it's bedrock edition. it's shit. it's worse than classic PE edition, but because bedrock ui and design is essentially geared towards being played on phones by children first and consoles a distant second, it's probably the best way to play bugrock if you absolutely had to. my advice, don't bother. it takes forever to do anything because you're fighting the controls, you'll probably die to a bug or two or three, and even if you dont you're probably getting killed by a skeleton because you can't move and swing at the same time.

completely disagree, block vomit looks absolutely fucking horrid on smaller builds specifically. pulling up pic related as an example of this.
bigger builds it's both easier to have well defined shapes organically, but also easier to have a gradient in it without it looking like shit on a canvas.
your build looks a little flat and i think could have done with some more shaping instead of/in addition to the texturing or whatever, but i like the block choices and the gradient and i mostly think it works out nicely.

It's good, I remember playing it as a kid. Of course, like with any control scheme for 3D games, touch controls can suck to learn as an adult at first if you're not used to them from other games, but you can bring along any controller. It's also possible to play Java Edition on your phone if you prefer that.

Even though I think the block vomit goes way too far on that build I still think it would look worse without the block vomit just because the scale is so small that it would look flat otherwise because you just can't create proportional depth at that scale.
Pic rel for an example, the building in the back has no block vomit, and I can create depth because the offsets from a block or a wall or a fence are not going to overwhelm the build while the build in the foreground is smaller (7x5 footprint) and if i were to add in depth with walls or blocks (like adding in some corner supports) they would completely overwhelm the scale.
The criticism that my build is a bit flat still is fair but that's in part my inspiration was some scottish buildings and castles and they just sort of look like that.
>>
>>578321037
>>578325059
Depth can absolutely work at small scale. You just have to be careful of not overdoing it. Bdubs' golem house is flat as shit.
Add a roof overhang and a base foundation of cobble or stonebrick and you have a ton more depth without the need for coral

>Arrow damage from skeletons now depends on its velocity and difficulty, rather than being randomized between a range.

Common sense changes to the game that everyone should be able to agree with:
>Minecart buff: current gold recipe for powered rails are changed to "high power rails" and can go really fast, current rails turn to "low powered rails" and are made with copper.
>Phantoms: Phantoms are either removed from the game entirely or are changed to so that they spawn when you sleep *too* much (seriously is Mojang retarded, why are they punishing players for playing for building environments where mobs can't spawn, this is the opposite of encouraging game design)
>Remove the Anvil "too expensive" limit and remove the stupid combining orders.
>Beacon range scales with how expensive the beacon base is.
Nothing in here is disagreeable other than "these changes don't go far enough".
>>
>>578342143
You can simplify it further
>Minecart: copper minecarts that move faster than iron minecarts
>Phantom: spawns at night like any other monster
>>
>>578342143
>Minecart buff
>You know those 20 stacks of powered rails you crafted and placed 2 weeks ago after days of gold mining? Yeah, sorry, they're all gonna copper now, should've saved your gold.
>Phantoms
If the phantom didn't win, like with the other loser mobs, we might have had insomnia implemented in a different way anyway. Minecraft survival mode is a survival game and it needs to lean more heavily into that. Sleep is essential for survival, so you should be punished in some way for not sleeping.

But then a lot of contraptions that use minecarts and rollercoaster jumps break, because the timing breaks if you change the speed. This is an issue people are trying to solve. >>

No, they want players to always play on the latest version, and they put a lot of effort into making sure things don't break between versions. It's the default option on Java to always play the latest release and Bedrock doesn't even have an option. Why would they want to make people not want to update their world?
They don't make drastic changes like that. As long as something doesn't rely on a bug, it should work in any future version.

It's an important consideration, but I don't think it should stand in the way of major updates. Absolutely not. You'd need to make the inventory like 100 times as large, or let items stack to 9999, to make shulkers obsolete, and even then people would likely use ender chests for certain items they only need occasionally. If it was up to me, I'd only add 3 rows to the player's inventory, to match a large chest, and at most raise stack sizes to 256

Exploring caves is fun, but it's also kind of a pain in the ass due to all the twists and turns. It's all so confusing. How do you orient yourselves in caves? >>578393413
In conventional mazes, you can use the right hand rule to always find the exit. The same thing can be applied to Minecraft.

In tunnels, always place torches on the LEFT wall when exploring the unknown. When you want to go out, follow the right hand rule: torches should be on your RIGHT to find the EXIT.

what benefit does AI offer here though? if you want builds to look to as inspiration theres over a decades worth of pictures of actual builds on the internet, and they wont run into the problem of using hallucinated nonexistent blocks that would confuse a new player

unless the point is that theyre not 1:1 actual minecraft things, but then id say there are millennias worth of actual buildings you can look at. AI sloppa is just a shitty middle ground that works worse as either type of inspiration

Are you actually serious? Trying to build from a sloppy AI inage like that in Minecraft is harder than just using a real life image, because the blocks don't align to the grid and it's impossible to recreate, it's an exercise in frustration. With a real image you can simply improvise because it will never be 100% accurate. Might as well look at a real build if you want it to be easy to recreate. You're choosing the worst of both worlds.
>>
>>578503243
>because the blocks don't align to the grid and it's impossible to recreate
That's the point dumbass. You aren't meant to replicate it perfectly but get very close. Which is very possible in this case. Not with real image, you will always be far off from that.

>>
>>578552653
I think it's letting people see what you built. Not everyone's gonna post their SP world on youtube or social media to showcase their world. so your world is just for (You) at that point there's no clout chasing so it kills some peoples motivation by playing "solo"
I know when I'm on servers if I come across a base I usually snoop around. Especially modded servers you can see how they set up their machines or power tech. I've gotten inspiration for how to set up/build that better

building separately is kind of the norm for servers ime. all working on builds together can be messy and annoying (and not really work if theres not a concerted effort to be on at the same time), and be frustrating if you arent on the same page/have different styles or ideas for the direction of the build (especially likely with an autist-heavy community like 4 channel dot org)

working on your own areas in your own time but still being able to see what others are up to/having some communal spaces/exchanging resources is the sweet spot i find
>>

Back in December 2010 I used to play on a 4chan related server where each player had to build an apartment in a mountain before they were allowed to wander off. It was fun and it was a good and friendly community. One player went around and typed "us channers" in the chat. There was a mob-trap that we were all allowed to gather resources from.

Good times.

I'd like to recreate that on here if possible.

I'm going balls deep and just learning how to write mods with mixins so I can finally have renewable calcite (by injecting another lava + water hardening on top of x block behavior). Something simple like this shouldn't be hard to vibe-port into newer versions every time Fabric or Mojang changes something. For me the point of playing online was always the community and never what I did on that server. I had a mate on a server at one point, and we'd go on Plug.dj while we were just jumping around the protected spawn area talking about fuck all for hours on end. There was a parkour at the spawn that we'd mastered because of it. It was like speedruns in that we were constantly trying to get a couple of tenths on one another
I only do single player now and Plug.dj is gone now. I miss those days sometimes

building parkour into my builds, or just having fun 'courses' to run over rooftops in my builds is always one of my favorite things. more fun than standing around a storage room waiting for ideas to hit.

Of course the ONE time Bdubs himself says he doesn't like a build you come here to post as if he said he loves, attempting an out of context shitpost when other people have watched his video already is beyond retarded. This build was a challenge to use both cinnabar blocks because he doesn't like how strong the red of the brick variation is. This wasn't a build to top the next Reddit Bdubs appreciation post, it was him trying to like a new block but still hating it. That's exactly why he covered it leaves and surrounded it by trees to try and see if shading/lighting could fix how deep and eye-blinding the red of the cinnabar bricks is

The fact he managed to make something like this using a block he doesn't like speaks volumes to his skill and mastery over Minecraft building, I just hope you're a one-and-done shitposting retard and not an actual schizo like everyone else who tries to bait post about Bdubs builds

Nobody had an issue with major updates before caves and cliffs. They did that to themselves by overpromising in the update and had to split it into 2 (technically 3 lets be honest the deep dark was obviously intended).
It was never an issue with the the major update system. If anything the new system makes it so they can't do anything too impactful and big as they just don't have the time for it. That's why all the drops feel so terrible and juan meme related, there's not enough time to develop something of scale like the nether or ocean update

I haven't seen anyone really saying that and I can't really agree either. Like if you combine just the Summer, Fall, and Winter Drops from last year(Chase the Skies, The Copper Age, Mounts of Mayhem) you get a really solid and well-rounded update major update. Throw in the first drop of last year (Spring To Life) only further makes it a really solid update that addressed a lot of different parts of the game.

>The content within the drop is all disconnected from each other and really isn't up to par as they have to push them out sooner
A couple drops feel kind of disconnected but overall I think most of them feel pretty decent. There are definitely drops that suffer from 'needing' to be pushed out sooner. Like this upcoming drop could've used some more time tweaking the world gen of the Dappled Forest to not make them on average as small as they are, and maybe filled the biome itself out more.

But also as far as the disconnected thing goes, that was kind of the 'norm' for Minecraft updates. The Pretty Scary Update was the definition of 'random bullshit go'

>Constant updates screws over modders so nobody wants to play modded modern minecraft
Modders used to keep up with updates just fine back in the day when they were coming out every few months before Microsoft bought the game and update cadence slowed down dramatically, I refuse to hold a pity party for modders who whine about the more frequent updates, especially since Mojang recently de-obfuscated the game code for them.

The problem is that people don't like waiting a year for a lackluster update, and Microsoft doesn't like it when the graph goes down - which is what happens when players don't get regular updates

My project for the last couple of weeks was improving my overworld rail network, and I'm finally finished.

The first section is the connection between my base and the mining guild. There used to be chests of carts at either end, now I have put a redstone connection between them so that the launch button will summon the cart from the other station if there isn't one here already.

The other cart goes from the mining guild to the mine, which is now also a station, from which you can get to the 2 trial chambers I've found.

Activating either destination changes the tracks on a timer so it will automatically reset. Trial Chamber 1 (green), is very nearby so that works fine, but Trial Chamber 2 (red) is quite far away so the clock gets unloaded when you're out there, so I had to add in a third path (blue), which overrides the other switches using a NIMPLY gate (this took for-fucking-ever to work out).

Thanks fren. The reason for the goat is a few months back I decided to make a goat horn farm, and spent an hour bringing 2 goats home. The other one died like 5 minutes away from my base and I haven't summoned the willpower to go find another and try and drag it here.

>Add a new End armor/tool set that is the same speed/effectiveness as diamond, but has no durability
>It is a tier adjacent to Netherite, not an upgrade to it (Netherite's speed and damage will also need to be increased so it can insta-mine deepslate and wood)

>>A new end game item should be added to store all your weapons/tools and you could quickly switch between them using a hotkey or weapon wheel
toolbelt, worn in the pants slot. has all the same pants slot enchants (swift sneak works), same durability as diamond, but protection value of chainmail. for a more vanilla approach, right clicking the air with a tool in your hand cycles between the tools stored in the toolbelt. the ideal that won't happen, a hotkey and a radial menu.
i dont really love the idea of letting you move end portal frames, forcing the player to make transport to a stronghold and have a whole new area to decorate seems cool enough to me. even if hardly anyone actually does more than make a nether tunnel there and a portal in the portal room, but still.
i dont like trees in the end, at all really. if you really must, a single rare biome with very strange looking trees might be tolerable.
>>
>>578659018
>i dont really love the idea of letting you move end portal frames
I was thinking it would be something similar to the recovery compass, music disc 5, mace, etc. where you'll have to raid multiple of some new structure to get all the crafting ingredients for it. so it wouldn't be something you could just pop into the end once and then have. meaning you'll still probably want to build some infrastructure to get to the end originally. then you are rewarded with the ability to put end portals wherever you want after you spend enough time in the end
>i dont like trees in the end, at all really
I was thinking they would be more similar to chorus plants in their shape than any normal trees and they wouldn't have leaves. it's really just a way for them to add blue, green, and purple wood since they seem to want to keep the overworld biomes "realistic" and I don't see them adding any new biomes to the nether any time soon
>>
>>578660217
"trees" or "tree-like things" that look a bit like chorus fruit or something more alien would be super cool, yeah, that's fair. also definitely the best way to sneak funny colored wood into the game. imagine seeing blue tendrils extending down to the void on the underside of some end islands. spooky.

How do we fix minecarts other than "go faster" and "leash them together"
What kinds of new special rails or features could they add?
>>
>>578661947
Add the ability to right click the furnace minecart to see how much fuel is in it and add more fuel. I don't know how that's still not a feature. Also add some jump tracks or something that cause a minecart to be launched like when using a slimeblock launcher
>>
>>578661947
create has a way for a train to automatically travel through unloaded chunks to and from stations in loaded chunks, without loading all those chunks in between as long as it knows there's a track there. I wish there would be some way to do this in vanilla that wouldn't involve murdering performance by chunkloading a whole track, so you could easily send minecarts with chests from your mine to home many chunks away for example. Or a much easier mail delivery system on a server. These things are possible now with temporary chunk loaders and such, but a clean way for the average player to utilize minecarts in this way would be fantastic.
I can't think of many things that can't be done currently though that I'd like to see added. Jump boosters would be cool. Add vertical and upside down tracks, let us make real coasters. A slow down track piece would be nice as well if minecarts were allowed to go faster, as a nice inbetween normal momentum loss and unpowered powered rail instantly stopping a cart.

I genuinely think increasing the speed by 2 or 3 times fixes them completely, as they become worth constructing to get around, but some other features that I'd think were cool:

>Crossover rails (like an X shaped rail so you can go over it in either direction)
>Tanker cart (can carry, say, 16 buckets of fluid)
>Cow catcher cart (entities on the track are knocked out of the way instead of stopping the cart when you hit them)
>Cart elevator (goes straight up/down)
>Utility cart (any interactable block can be added to the cart, so you could have an anvil cart, a workbench cart, an actual furnace cart, basically you could just make a mobile workstation train)

It doesn't have to be a GUI, especially since Mojang doesn't seem to like GUIs, but could be part of the texture. Kind of like the oxidation stages for copper: much fuel, some fuel, little fuel, no fuel, and you'd be able to tell at a glance. What I want to do looks simple enough, just hand hokded by how vanilla does the same thing and change the blocks involved, but I plan to do more tweaks down the line. I.e. i want to buff golden tools in the Nether and copper tools underwater. Basically some total conversion shit that gets rid of vanilla enchantments and repurposes villagers into a new augments based system where you have only the semi unique ones (Fortune, Silk Touch, Frost Walker, Riptide) and the rest is granted through stat buffs you need to sustain. Maybe even buff diamond beacons so they have x0.66 multiplicative chance of not deducting durability from tools/gear.

>I refuse to hold a pity party for modders who whine about the more frequent updates, especially since Mojang recently de-obfuscated the game code for them.
Not all of them want to fix their mods for a new version every 3 months. That's just delaying work on adding new features to the mod and just plain tedious to do. Pretty big motivation killer for a modder when the game is updated so frequently with nothingburger patches you have to mod check for.
but the main problem is getting all the modders to cooperate and update. Otherwise modpacks fall apart or you have to cut stuff which may need to rework the rest of the pack. That's why modpacks remain on the 2 popular old versions

More plants. That's it. Have biome exclusive ones too. Many plants. Flowers, vines, trees, alien shit. Some with uses, why not. Glowing ones, edible ones, some for potions, I don't give a shit. Also some way to multiply them yourself because waiting for seeds to be spawned is shit and slow.
I don't even want an exclusive use, redundant shit is fine too, but now I just have a couple sniffers caged in a small enclosuse with minecart hoppers to retrieve the seeds because they're a pain to gather. Not fun, not interresting.
>>
It would be cool if torchflowers functioned identically to torches, gave off a light level of 14 and could be placed on walls. Just a crop you could farm for renewable torches instead of getting sticks and coal.
Because of how they redesigned the caves you almost never see coal at lower levels and you need shitloads of torches to light up the caverns

I've been thinking about adding sherd drops from sniffers through a data pack. I basically never build with actually-decorated decorated pods, because of how rare sherds are and how long it would take to farm like 16 of them in most case. I don't even have a sniffer farm at the moment, but if every 10 seed they dug up was a sherd instead, I'd suddenly see the point. And it fits thematically, since they're all about digging up ancient things

>and have a very rare chance to find a golden dandelion

>>
>>578724068
Chunks are vertical slices currently, which is why we have a build height. The taller the chunk, the more data needs to be loaded into memory. They'd have to implement 3D chunks first, so you only load what you can see, and anything below or above would remain unloaded. But then you run into the issue of lighting and sky access. If you can't see the roof, because it's outside of render distance, what do you see? Darkness? The sky? Does a cave suddenly get lit up because the roof got unloaded?

Java modders, primarily, do it for fun. At least the giants from back in the day and some of the giants now. Sometimes it's been for money, sometimes it's been for 'fame' or whatever, but mostly it has been for fun.
Every single person making mods for bedrock is doing it for money. They do not give a shit about the people that play bedrock, they do not give a shit about doing it for fun or even playing the game themselves, it is purely to get money from retarded kids. So, they hole themselves up in private discord servers because they don't want anyone else getting in on their clique. Additionally, in the wider modding community, they are pretty fucking reviled by both players and other modders. Of course legacy console edition would have people want to make mods for it, because it's entirely in the pursuit of fun.

between toolsmith and armorsmith, both importantly have the iron ingot for emerald trade which is how i get 99% of my emeralds because i dont feel like building a new raid farm, and both provide infinite diamond equipment. toolsmith is probably better, you save fewer diamonds per trade but i'm a lot more likely to want a shulkerbox of pickaxes rather than a shulkerbox of diamond pants or something.
close 2nd is probably the farmer, even with a gold farm i just buy golden carrots from him and stock up once in a while. also a decent alternative to trading sticks for emeralds before you've got a good iron farm setup/had one run for a while.

the worst one is a little interesting i guess.
i never see anyone use a butcherer but 1 emerald for 5 porkchops is like not THAT bad for early game at all.
cleric has xp bottles, mason has lots of things, fletcher is still useful earlygame, weapon smith has the diamond sword + iron trade.

unpopular opinion but i like the butcher for that tier 2 cooked pork chop trade if it rolls, i know a farmer is better because you can set up auto pumpkin/melon farms, sell and then buy golden carrots but i like eating meat and hate constant breeding animals
worst for me is either the fisherman or leather worker

>>578784505
To be fair though I have a shit ton of farms in my world and have 6 of every villager profession so my perspective might be a bit different then what's optimal
>>
>>578783756
Most useless is easily is the leatherworker by far, its only value is getting rid of surplus from a fishing or hoglin farm. Butcherers have really good value for new players because sweet berries are among the easiest automatic farms to do (just a minecarts track and a dirt platform with foxes roaming there enclosed with anything you want to decorate with) they often have excess of coal late game (cuz they buy shit you'd use coal for, or smelt things with lava) and also there's immediate value on buying cooked meat. Fishermen also save some time if you need buckets for something early game, and can eat excess string from bartering and regular mob farms (something an average player is more likely to do) and those crap collectible fishes Mojang added. Sometimes they buy coal, too.
>>
>>578784505
>stack of bones
>bucket of cod
What am I not getting here?
>>
>>578784505
The thing I dislike most about the fletcher and why I like to get away from using the stick trade asap is because of how annoying it is to trade for emeralds that way. Your entire inventory is full of sticks and you barely get any emeralds before needing to craft more sticks, and you have to click a lot if you don't have mods to make trades instant. The last thing I want to be doing with my time if I have the choice is filling my inventory with boats for 1 emerald a piece, clicking twice as often as stick trades.
>>578785343
Well, yeah, the leatherworker is definitely the worst, but op stipulated worst besides the leatherworker. I don't think most new players are going to capture foxes and wrangle them back to their base for a sweet berry farm anon, they'd only do that if they take up home in a taiga and most people don't do that either (even though old growth taigas are the best biome in the game). The bucket trade is probably the best thing fishermen have going for them, it's pretty alright for early game.

>>578785837
Is also not hard to get some good fish stock with a prismarine farm, between that, string and coal is a decent dump of excess resources for late game players. And saves you 5s of your life whenever you need to catch a mob in a boat (I always carry half a stack of emerald blocks for stupid shit like this).
>>
>>578783756
Wool isn't bad as emerald source, brainless to automate, cheap and basically legal for fags that patch iron farms out in servers (you can buy shears from shepherds, effectively making it a self fulfilling thing once you pay the initial rails + hoppers investment). IIRC they also buy dyes too sometimes, an excesos of bonemeal could be turned on emeralds .
>>
>>578786816
>patch iron farms out in servers

Nvm they BUY boats not sell them. This probably was something I modded in.

The only immoral "gameplay mechanics" are duping and tnt/sand duping. The latter is fine for now because they refuse to make sand renewable

>The last thing I want to be doing with my time if I have the choice is filling my inventory with boats for 1 emerald a piece
Fair enough. It can get annoying since they're unstackable. That's why I built an auto crafter next to my fisherman so I don't have to deal with boat clog as much

I am spiritually obligated to say I have no problem with the owner of 'DolaCraft, but the server started going completely downhill when the owner says he started taking HRT hormone changes, and de-opped me for protecting some builds, and dared to call me a retard for sass-back. Then removed my OP completely for 1-week muting one faggot who kept harassing and insulting me and banning him for an hour but unbanned by "popular demand".
Because of my increasing skills with command blocks, I'm no longer allowed to enter the server under the same name, and I'm only allowed back in with different name. Very manipulative and it would make me "bootlicker" of him. So I quit completely from them.
The sad part is the majority of the players there have almost never complained about me using command blocks, and if they did, I rectify the situations easily. The owner and his two "friends" are trying to make me a LOLcow with harassments and bullshit that makes ICA organization look more of a Sharty joke than a serious group that teamed up together to make the owner of /v/craft fix the mess.
>t. Former player of 'DolaCraft at the time of this writing. I still need to learn more about command blocks.

>Doola has repeated the same mistakes as anoncraft just as it before repeated vcraft's mistake. History is like pottery, it's rhymes [Which is allowing the same people to occupy the same roles like last time, thus already attaching a a familiar face to dola. According to a friend, certain players would like to play on the server, but won't cause of the people in it who were in the previous one.]

Gentlemen, I need your help with building a couple of small hillside (?) houses, I need your wisdom to help me get inspired, I am going to use them to hide small automatic farms but Google is not giving good results that fit my building style, I also have this idea of instead of building houses, build a lot of inner interconnected rooms inside the mountain, I already have build 3 inner rooms on the other side of the mountain (see purple X) so I would just start from there, but if I build the houses around the mountain, I want to build the inner rooms too.

Yeah, I started playing a couple of days after 1.8 came out. I primarily build with wood, especially oak. Here are some of my other builds; the last one is a terraformed island into a bamboo forest/personal zoo, which I plan to fill with a lot of rabbits, since I really like their newer design and I already have enough of the other animals. Also, I only took 2 pics of it because it is massive, has too many details, and has 2 massive artificial lakes. Not enough pics would do it justice.

why does minecraft endorse slavery?
>>
>>578828978
getting resources is somewhat tedious, especially given that enchantments do not feel magical at all but merely a small upgrade, so slavery is the only option if you want to build an actual big base not some small house.
>>
>>578828296
careful with the rabbits escaping, they can jump over a fence. 2 high blocks or 2 high fences they can't though. they'll also be safe assuming you have no foxes nearby since foxes jump 4 blocks high

I usually retexture light source blocks to make them flush with the environment. For instance, I've retextured verdant froglights (pic related) to look like grass blocks, and I retextured glowstones to look like polished stone, since I need a light source at the back of big paintings in my base (I used polished stone for the walls). I haven't retextured the other froglights yet, come to think of it, maybe I'll try to retexture another one to look like oak logs to see if it works or if it's too distracting.
>>
>>578899837
Woops, sorry, I edited my post. When a painting doesn't have a light source at the back, the lightning on the painting is off. Wait, I'll make a test.
